@@willmiester4051 Oh no worries, let me explain. Benito Mussolini was the leader of Fascist Italy during the second world war. He is the guy that came up with the term fascism in the first place to describe his political ideology. He didn't necessarily create fascism by himself since historically it has its roots years before, but he IS the one that officially named it and is considered the official founder of the fascist movement. Anyway, to the point: Benito Mussolini, the man credited as the founder of fascism, was in fact a bald Italian guy, so the joke is hilarious because it's a blatant contradiction. this is likely the most obvious thing ever, but the scene about max wanting to murder goofball is probably him wanting to remove his deep laden love of immature shock humour, and has likely always been the reason that goofball exists- as a reflection of a part of max that gets in the way of his "true artistic passion"
@farronblaze2952 Жыл бұрын
What compels me, is that he kinda needs Goofball. The videos so far prove it. Their back and forth makes the content interesting. And Goofball needs Max too. A wacky guy is only as funny as the straight man he bounces off of. The culmination of their growth may be them realising this. As a symbol of Max finally accepting who he is, instead of reaching endlessly for who he wants to be.
@Astro_Crunch Жыл бұрын
I think that's what the glass of "milk" was about too. Much like how Goofball's ambiguously identified glass of milk ran the risk of jeopardizing Max's sponsorship, Max's history of ambiguously natured jokes have done the same for his reputation as an artist. Ironically, while so many people that don't like Max were combing this video for "dog whistles," they completely missed the fact that the glass of milk was symbolic of the relationship between dark humor and dog whistles. Whether or not it was a glass of milk is unimportant because the effect is all the same. Max still lost his sponsorship. Same thing goes for his past edgy jokes. Whether or not they were genuine bigotry in disguise or merely shock humor is irrelevant because people still see him as the guy who drew Steven Jewniverse.

Honestly, Brain Dump has broke its peak in the best way. I love Goofball's more specific, cartoonier expressions, the sublte direction, great storyboards and drawings. Not to mention Max's struggle actually felt relateable. I'm not sure what the show's next form will look like, but if it's as good as this, I'll gladly wait another 8-10 months or so. @nichls2 жыл бұрын
This Brain Dump episode really hit hard. The fact the video progressively points out many stances of Fash Ism with subtle references and even a huge comeback to the plot really screams out how much of a misunderstood GENIUS Max is. The animation's quality showing the ambience changing throughout the video and the channeling of emotions in each tone and phrase brought at least 5 different meanings to Fash Ism. The glass of C-U_M, for example, bringing "A Clockwork Orange" to the table; The "all this/that are the same" speech; The censorship of media and information vehicles; The "blame" on someone for what they're feeling... Heck, even the hard words spoken firmly to "assert dominance"... Terrific, the entire plot behind this episode was through the roof and easily one of the best videos I've seen on KZbin, like, ever. The jokes were perfectly placed and everything sorted out as if you had the entirety of the video planned in mind for about 3-4 years straight. The outcome, the tension break, the tension recuperation. Amazingly well done, brother, thank you for being who you are, after all these years you've been a content creator.

@@khaylittle8286 I mean not all friends are on 100% friendly terms all the time. Some friends get along through a weird dynamic of getting along or completely antagonizing one another; it keeps the relationship fresh because despite it all, you still have each other's backs. I would view Goofball as the antagonist freeloader archetype - the guy who hangs out, eats your food without checking if its ok first, is never around when you want him and always bursts in when you dont, but when you're actually in need that person will basically do everything physically possible to have your back (because up to then you've let them be their pain in the ass self and without you they couldnt goof off. They know they have a good thing going and your responsible nature enables their chaos - their actions arent malicious, but they're thoughtless a lot of the time and that gets on your nerves, but at the end of the day you're both important to one another on some level so you'd be sad without the other). As much as I hate to say it: I would love a friend like Goofball. That sort of laissez faire attitude towards life is like a breath of fresh air; the energy is intoxicating and the lack of inhibition is on another level, like I cannot imagine living life that unrestrained and at least being adjacent would give a taste. I have had friends like that in the past and though there were times we did fight or times we did want to strangle one another: it was nice having them around.

It really stings when you find the one thing you're good at and very proud of only to have everyone you grew up around with telling you it's just "a waste of time" "you're not good enough" "you won't make money doing that" etc. I use to be very happy and optimistic about my potential and looking forward to what I was capable of in the future like any 12 year old kid with a pencil....now I'm 28 years old, unemployed, alone, haven't made anything worthwhile while people wayyyyy younger than me are doing amazing things for themselves.
