@candicefrost4561 yes a very small minority of women benefit from working but the breakup of traditional families and marriage has ruined society. Feminism ultimately didn't benefit most women. As I said the employers benefit the most. While virtue signalling their new cheaper employees. The vast majority of divorces are instigated by women if you want to argue the case for who is mainly responsible for this destruction.

Women are often harsh to each other sometimes, not just men to women. I can recall when I was a housewife looking after my child, I often felt the working women looking down on me for not working in a ‘what-is-wrong-with-you’ way, but then when I became a working mum, I often felt I couldn’t be there for my child and it also felt wrong. It’s hard for both whether you’re a homemaker or a working mum, we should understand that and try not to be too harsh and judgmental towards each other.
@femininelounge9240
@femininelounge9240 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose, so sorry to hear about that. I often find women who are judgemental are jealous and envious. If I was your friend, I would have encouraged you to do what you can to stay at home and f**k those friends. Sometimes as women we know the truth but were waiting for other people to cosign our choices. 9-5 is definitely overrated and unhealthy at different chapters of motherhood. But like you say we all have to make decisions for ourselves. My cousin was a VP at JPMORGAN. She went back to work after her daughter was 3 months old. She was divorced within a year and found out she had lupus. I encouraged her to become a consultant as that was more flexible. Don't let people force you into a box.

A Human-being You’re obviously incapable of reading a comment fully. I didn’t need a man to save me. I married a man I fell in love with and we have a child together, which is called ‘marriage’. By the way, I did get a job when my child started school. So you think a child grows up by themselves? Motherhood is a sacred job that’s in fact no comparison to any jobs I have had so far and I’m in a teaching position and I work as a translator and interpreter as a career woman but being a mother is a tricky job of all. You know, people like you are the ones I’m talking about. I bet you don’t have a family to look after, or you just don’t get the idea of ‘looking after someone else’ other than yourself, and yet here you are talking as if you knew what you’re talking about. By the way, calling yourself a human-being does not automatically make you one. You need to possess some level of ‘humanity’ to call yourself a human. Otherwise, what are we? Even my dog has more humanity than you.

Keep in mind men still expected to be the top bread winner and also provide domestic support and often not to the wife's satisfaction. The wive's career and wealth often only benefits herself. So yes husands end up not helping to try to avoid this lose lose scenario seeded by Feminism. The issue is that women cannot give up the benefits of the patriachy while still demand more privileges from society.

You give the truth to a character people are going to hate, then people discount everything the character says, even if it’s obviously true. Your emotional disdain for the speaker kills your logical acknowledgment of the truth being given.

"Women are going to find themselves with two full time jobs" My God this is so true. My family is the prime example of this. I hate that I have to work even though I want to be a housewife. All that education and money my mom spent on me but I despise the world outside, it's a scary place and I just want to stay home and take care of the house, bake things that make me happy and workout whenever I want. And have one child down the line. But the expectations to succeed and take care of my mom financially is too significant to set aside.

For this to work, you have to eradicate Female education, because you don't expect women to have the opportunity to dream of becoming something other than a mother and not take it. So you eradicate Female education and the revenue to work out of the home is cutoff. You will just be raised to be a wife and a mother.

I fully agree, it seems she took the anti feminist stance, and rode on its coat tails for her own agenda and gain. She was in an 'I'm alright Jack' situation, of being married well, having domestic help, having an education, being in the upper echolons of society; to me she did not want black women and white working class women to have choices and opportunities, so exploited their fight for these rights, dressing it up a a destruction of the so called American way of life (white, anglo saxon, and middle class).

Morgan Kenning How do women not have the same opportunities as men? Women make up more college enrollees. It’s been illegal to pay women less than men since Kennedy. Women often benefit from affirmative action hiring as well. Women have reproductive rights, where men have no say in the child. Men make up more victims of violent crime (and rape if you include prison). Men get longer prison sentences for the same crime. The pay gap has been debunked so many times, yet it’s still repeatedly drilled into everyone’s heads. In America, where is all this so called oppression?

Tamara West I recall my mom telling me (in the 80s when I was a kid) that she always thought the women burning their bras were crazy. She said women will go to work full time, and still have to make dinner, do dishes, check homework, give the bathes, grocery shop, run all the errands, run the kids around, scrub the bathroom, do the laundry, etc. She had four children, and said running a house of six was already work. Of course, there was no fast food, my mom didn’t consider ordering a pizza dinner either. Now kids are obese because it’s rare to have a home cooked meal because both parents are running around. When I was in my 20s working, I recall so many women with families running errands during their lunch break, just constantly looking frazzled. My mom was right in a lot of ways. I’m all for women having choices, but I think one of the biggest lies of feminism is “you can have it all.”

"It is ludicrous to suggest that [other jobs] are more self-fulfilling than the daily duties of a wife and mother in the home." "Most women would rather cuddle a baby than a typewriter or factory machine. Not only does the baby provide a warm and loving relationship that satisfies the woman's maternal instinct and returns love for service, but it is a creative and growing job that builds for the future." "We want a society in which the average man earns more than the average woman so that his earnings can fulfil his provider role in providing a home and support for his wife who is nurturing and mothering their children." Does this sound like someone who liked free, successful women who weren't her? A classic Hobson; you can choose any life you want as long as it's in the house, and if you disagree I'll guilt trip you into thinking you're a failure of a woman.

Considering I live in a country with high living expenses, I can safely say that this is not entirely true. It is perfectly viable to only have one source of income and maintain a household, the problem really is how materialistic you are and how pampered you want to be. If you're fine with minimalism, in order to cope with the high expenses of frivilous side features, then you'll even end up saving more money and having a better retirement than the household making a higher gross.

@@cash_eye I would appreciate it if you used punctuation in your text because otherwise it becomes hard to understand. If you have read any feminist literature you will clearly see that they consider the entire western civilization to be a perpetual oppression of women and everything that the western mind has created is discriminatory and evil. If by chance it has created something resourceful, it is the consequence of enslaving women. I think this is an appalling and dangerous doctrine at every level. Just look at the terminology used in the feminine mystique. It's designed to paint an image of unnecessary victimhood and scare women away from marriage. It's tolerating and even encouraging promiscuity and discouraging stable familial relations.

MRiitta What happens if a woman chooses to dedicate her life to her career, let's assume she becomes very succesful as a stockbroker and has dozens of wealthy clients whose portfolios she is managing. And one day, when she is 52 years old and all possibilities of building a family have expired, the stock market crashes for the 2nd time. She loses her job, her career and a fair bit of her money. Even if she still has enough money to sustain her for the rest of her life, what is she going to do? She has no family, no work, nothing meaningful in her life. My point in saying this is that disasters happen and if you try and make choices by imagining the worst thing that can happen, you will never find something to do becausd anything can end very badly.

I recall as a kid my mom having Phil Donahue in the background and the yelling between working moms and stay at home moms was crazy. I assume that was during this time. Women have more choices today than they ever had. If women choose to stay at home with their kids, and she can afford that (not advocating welfare dependency) good for her. If a woman decides never to marry or have kids, good for her. If a woman wants to be a fire fighter, and can pass the same criteria as a male coworker, good for her. If a woman wants to juggle her work and family with hopefully her partner/kids dad, and they can make it work, good for them. There is no one solution for everyone. Working moms and stay at home moms do seem to shame each other, and this should stop.

@GarthanSaal444 your comment is somewhat ignorant and mysoginistic. Not all women want children, not all women can have children, not all women find the right man, due to luck of the straw. Some women don't want to be married for whatever their own personal reasons are. Women do not lose their looks at 40 and can still have children, and do. The statement you made about is mysoginistic and ageist, as not all men want to marry a slip of a girl, who does not yet know herself and what she wants from life, and do also go for someone in their age group. Before you start about fertility, marriage is not just about children, there has to be a common ground.

Ok. I agree, but the difference is women have had a critical evolutionary role that has lasted 100,000 pluse years of darwinistic social norms leading up to current humanity success of procreation leading to the human animals success. Much of the traits that worked are innately evolved into ages of successful gender pacific roles. We are literate made that way. The last 60 years are an anomaly driven but advances that has enabled women to be freed from the realities of their sex role as the mothers of all humanity. Unlike the evolution of humanity passing on the success of the best traits for survival where this gender roles were key. There is buckets of evidence that the rise of feminist doctrine has been a failure. Don’t confuse feminism with equality, it’s really not. Modern feminism has decided that in order to be equal women needed to be like guys while demolishing the very sex s pacific traits they are trying to emulate. Women’s happiness has gone down constantly from the very start of modern feminism. The denial of the sexes differences and nature roles has increasingly destroyed or tried to female femininity and male masculinity and its lead to the decline of birth rate, fertility, male testosterone levels, life contentment and happiness. By almost any metric modern feminism has been a disaster for humanity. Not gender equality, that is a desirable thing that has been proven to be of great benefit for those countries that has embraced it. But as we are not the same trying to force equity by acting the same will never be successful. Each of the two sexes have many benefits unique to thier sex. Male aggression female empathy, male protection instinct, female making humans, these differences are strengths if nurtured and embraced. If not by act but in deeds that results are equally valued in the contributions equality should not be measured by how the same we should be but by what our differences can be combined like different fruits in a fruit salad create a combination that is better then the sums of each part or fruit in this analogy. Eat a apple or eat cherry , both are ok, put them together any yum a new and better taste. So stop the feminist crap. It’s evolved into a detriment, embrace egalitarianism and encourage the contribution both sexes bring to the table. The results will be way better for people’s Heath, happiness and life satisfaction. Stop trying to teach a banana to be to be a orange. It’s is doomed to fail because the only result you’ll ever get by trying to teach a banana to be a Apple wil only result I a very confused banana doing a poor imitation Of a Apple.

I agree with what she said as a man, not because gender equality won't favour men interests but some feminist ideas like she said creates lots of negativity to the woman to live and work confidently and independently. Because feminists think men take over their jobs and disallow women to express their social and political views freely, which makes them hate men. On the job part, it is the complete opposite of what feminists think because firms always want to hire a worker who could do the job well. As long as the worker could perform the job up to the employer's requirement, gender remains secondary to the employer. In fact, some industries like education have higher female to male ratio due to demand characteristics (i.e: parents regard female teachers able to nurture students as if their children). On the politics part, women have a strong presence in politics despite it is traditionally dominated by men. As a voter myself, I think a politician is still counted as a job who should represent us well and deliver relevantly good policy, voting for a man or a woman is not the only major concern. I live in a city where the head of state is a woman, who is notoriously noted as not democratically elected by the citizens but by a selected group called the election committee and delivering ineffective policies. She hasn't ever advocated woman' rights explicitly and has only been concentrating on policy areas without gender factor. Not all female politicians represent women, some only serve their interests only.

Feminism is one thing. It had a reason to exist back then. There were actual issues that needed addressing and solving. Neo-feminism on the other hand , (what they try to pass as "feminism" in our times) is a pre-designed social engineering project which exploits many feminine traits by spreading confusion, resentment and misunderstanding, for political gain. It works wonderfully, like in how it also fosters things like single mother famililes, hence parental alienation syndrome, which goes to perpetuate the vicious circle by breeding women who resent men from childhood and come primed for it.

The problem is she's right but also rallies against the solution to the problem. The position of homemaker should not be underestimated. We've created that world where women work 2 full time jobs and are unhappy at both. However, she dismisses the idea that men can be homemakers too. The role is important and we have the economy to allow 1 parent to stay at home and raise the child while the other works. Having a parent there is probably the best thing for a child's development but we now look down on the role as outdated and either sexist or unmanly. We need to make it socially acceptable to stay at home and raise our children again

You make some good points, but nowadays it is economincally impossible, especially here in the UK, where rents and property prices are out of proportion to salaries, that 1 income is simply not enough, especially if there are children to support. Looking at heterosexual relationships, especially omes with children, there is an economic need for both parents to work. However, sadly, most of the time, the burden of running the home is left to the women, hence they cannot have it all, when their husbands/boyfriends do nothing or only the minimum to do their share.

freemayo It’s more complicated than that. Most people want to raise a family and it’s generally expected that men are the breadwinners while the women look after the kids. So therefore most men would want to start a family with someone who’s able to take good care of the kids while they work. Parental leave is so brief for men that they’ll have to get back into work sooner than women. It’s a societal issue and it’s hard for people to change so easily.

Yibro I don’t know where you live. In the US, it is not generally expected that men will be the breadwinners. It is so hard to make it on one salary here that it would not make sense to live under that expectation. Personally, I don’t believe one scenario is necessarily better than the other. Children do not need a stay at home mom. They need a mom who is happy and able to care for them. Some of the most well adjusted adults I know spent some time in daycare. I was raised by a miserable stay at home mom and I wish she had been able to just find a job. Every family is different and people should be free to make their own choices.

@@free22 Well it depends on the needs of the child really. Some children don't need their parents around all the time and some do. You're right in that most children don't need a stay at home mom, but they do need either one of their parents around the house most of the time, especially if they're young. It would be pretty stupid for both parents to work full-time for 40+ hours while their children aren't recieving the proper care and attention they need when they're young.

Yibro Nobody wants children who are not well taken care of. Caregivers and extended family can be very good at taking care of children though. What bothers me is the lack of choice. fmla in my country provides 12 weeks of paid leave. So many people are forced to go back to work before they may want to out of necessity. Longer leave would help families at all income levels make the best decision for themselves.

Well she’s not wrong. Women can’t be expected to be both main caregivers and be fully work-oriented. That’s why women shouldn’t aspire to be everything men are. The whole society needs to change so every person would be able to fully realize their potential not in the mold of the privileged but in their own ideal way. If merit is our goal - this is the only way to get the optimal results.

"That's why women shouldn't aspire to be everything men are" That's where you're wrong. Women can study, work, and be as productive to the world as men, and sometime during the middle take a break and raise a child. Might be women can be *more* than men are.

INFJ Elphaba Supporter You misunderstood my meaning. Women shouldn’t aspire to be everything men are in addition to their already extremely full roster of traditional responsibilities. Women shouldn’t be expected to continue doing everything all the time and realize their professional dreams on top. Men should take half of the duties (or all of them if they don’t plan on a career of their own). That’s what I’m saying - the traditional way of life impedes merit.
