I like MGC at Dior and l also liked Virginie V at Chanel. Their shows may be underwhelming but when you see the clothes in person, they are beautiful. They both design for the PAYING clients who want consistent and reliable clothing. They are not pandering to the hypebae internet critics. Why is it so wrong to design clothing for real, paying clients who don't want clothing that drastically changes every 6 months. Both designers have plenty of shoes, bags, and other accessories for the trendy crowd.

So true! I think so much of fashion commentary is focused on what is on the runway vs how the clothes exist in real time and in real life. Great points❤❤❤

Honestly that could be said for the clothes made by H&M or Uniqlo, they are beautiful and look like clothes. Whats the point of putting out 2 collection every year if what you're going for is reliable clothes, you don't need to force a runway show to sell clothes that'll last for years, at that point theres no need to tell any story. Hermes is probably the best example of a heritage brand that put on good runway designs AND products, and the CD is a brilliant woman too.

I can't imagine Loewe without Jonathan Anderson. The fact that he might leave the house makes me anxious cause there're many pieces from his time at Loewe that I dream of and that are going to stop being produced or become more difficult to acquire (crying in poor).

Similar to Viard, MGC may profitable today but often times today isn't good enough for these huge conglomerates. They want to see young customers falling for a brand and desiring and buying the work and thus cementing future sales for years to come. They want profitable today and even more profitable tomorrow, and I'm not entirely sure MGC - with her eye for making practical, purchasable clothing for today's mature woman - can promise that.
@MarysRoom2 ай бұрын
Yes good point about luxury conglomerates wanting young customers to "fall for the brand". Thank you for your perspective!

Dior needs help. MGC has betrayed her own ethics with the last collection. LVMH is not going to play around with market failure and lack of inspiration. Agree. No credibility on the supply chain.

I think she was just doing what has been commercially demanded of her. But Dior will have to announce that they are making changes as its one of their major houses and its flopping right now bc of the business demands

Could Maria Grazia's reason for being sent away be because she always harmonizes her inspiration with the theme of feminism in every show? Karl Lagerfeld, for example, didn't have such an obsession. He did a Dallas-themed show because Jackie Kennedy had a pink tweed Chanel suit, but he didn't do it because a woman did it 🤔 Perhaps Bernard Arnault has started to find this feminism thing boring and has other plans for the Dior brand he excitedly bought 😎

I think it has to do with the Dior the scandal and for many customers the brand is cancelled and sales are down. A creative director change means they can rebrand and they have JWA lined up for the role. Thank you for watching and sharing your perspective!

Hum..Maria at Gucci?? I can see the interest due the commercial success, however the Style has to be SO SO something DIFFERENT than what she did at Dior. No alas Alessandra Gucci/ Valentino and Slime Dior/ Celine. UGH- Please stop. But Fendi and Pier Paolo Picciol- Yes Please. Thank heavens. Kim Jones is Fine, but just doesn't have the panache. Anderson at Dior , alright... Looks good a bit of a refresh and Vibe/ I hope that he can capture the Fantasy and Romance of Dior.

poor Anna, she got cynical and stopped trying to be an innovator for sometime now, instead deciding to try and become a power broker. looks like that paint is starting to chip...but i'll give her credit for how cunning and ruthlessly she has secured her position at conde nast, digging into them with an eagles claw - they would probably have to hire a swat team for the coup they would need to pull off so they could pry her from her from that throne. But that day is going to come, and it will happen so fast you wont even have time to blink, let alone make your head spin (I have a feeling only hers will).

I could see Chiuri at Gucci, especially with the last collection which I frankly thought was an aberrant monstrosity, especially against the refined feminine elegance that is THE Dior code (it kind of reminded me of Michele's final excesses at Gucci). But, Sabato seems to be on the upswing (and I absolutely adore the pendulum swing into a more streamlined, wearable aesthetic).

This is like saying stop talking about Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, or Tom Ford at Gucci. We can all acknowledge that the world has moved on, but the reason we speak about them is because of the profound impact and intertwined stories of designers and houses/brands.
@joelgarlejo71523 ай бұрын
Yes that ship has sailed and gone, with that said Sir Galliano designs are in the metropolitan museum and forever be and never forgotten . AND TO BE A MATTER FACT designers of today try too replicate his work and they don't even come close. That's like saying Rembrandt, Picasso or Einstein work was no good . The rest is just for Money !
@nathalieduran73552 ай бұрын
@@joelgarlejo7152 I don't agree that your argument is matter of fact because you associate fashion designers with artists , which they are not. There is no comparison with Rembrandt and Picasso . Their work is fine art. Galliano's work is the fashion business. It's not art and it's not science. In his line of work , luxury fashion , it is 100% about money. The fact that some of his stuff ended up in a museum doesn't mean it's sacred art. At Dior he designed frocks which fuelled the sale of perfumes, leather goods and make up for the average consumer. The Frocks themselves deserve to be preserved for the craftsmanship, historical value and for the future. But he's not the only one with dresses in museums.
