I had a hypnobirth my second natural delivery having no idea what it was. It just came naturally and the craziest part was my nurse who sat with me was reading a book about it. She told me after how wild it was that she was studying about it and got to witness it at the same time. This was like 20 year's ago so it wasn't a "thing" that was talked about but it was such a cool experience!

I had my baby early and only got about 3 weeks of practice but it was SO helpful. I stayed calm through the whole thing and didn’t end up using any pain meds, even with an induced labor. There was a moment right before I pushed where I started to panic (because I was afraid I had a long time to go) but overall I really loved it. I had a complicated pregnancy (delivered in the ICU) but it made labor and delivery the easiest part.

Love Hypnobabies and Ina May's Guide to Childbirth! I think it's important to distinguish between the general term "hypnobirthing" and the particular class Hypnobabies. Hypnobabies teaches medical grade hypno anesthesia, not just deep relaxation. I wouldn't want someone to just read a book on hypnobirthing and think they'll get the benefits of Hypnobabies. I used Hypnobabies with my second baby and I'm using it again for my third baby. Highly recommend it! ☀️ Heidi

I did Hypnobabies for my first birth in 2018 (and I'm 5 weeks out from doing it again). I love it. My first birth was FAST, too. Active birthing was 3 hours. Got to the birth center, was 5cm, and was pushing within an hour, then baby was out 20mins later. Crazy! As I approach this birth, I'm feeling prepared for a faster birth and excited to see if HB works even better this time :) Thanks for doing this video about it to get the word out.

I think youtuber Lily Pebbles did hypnobirthing and she ended up having a c-section. I think she talked about how it still helped her, and she often mentions how she uses the breathing techniques when she feels anxious etc. I think the name "hypno-birthing" is a bit unfair cus people think it super hippie, but it's literally going back to the knowledge women used for centuries before science and partiarchy changed the way we view and discuss childbirth. I'm a bit of a history nerd and it's so interesting how we sort of lost a lot of knowledge about women and their bodies during the 19th century. And I mean, in the 20th they started to give such strung drugs during labor women would sometimes be restrained because they were so high and confused, or they were put into "twighlight sleep" and would not remember anything. Sorry, went on a ramble and I don't really know much about it, but it is very interesting to read about what brought these changes of views on women and childbirth during 18-19th century. Love your videos as always! :D

Hypno Babies!!! After having PPD with my first baby I had read there was (very slight) evidence that the pain of childbirth can sometimes help induce that oxytocin hormonal response; and for me that was enough (if nothing else it wasn’t worrying). I’m the opposite of crunchy, I like hospitals… it was my OB who suggested it when I expressed interest in “natural birth.” Yes, some of the stuff is a little absurd (like the refusal to use the word “pain”) but what SOLD me was the fact that for the first time in YEARS I was able to fall asleep to take a nap after playing the CD. I had an epidural with my first vagina birth (which was fine, though it’s an extra day in the hospital and there’s not much insuring for it ). The copay on my epidural was going to be like $4,000 and so I’d I forwent it we (husband was still in med school) could get my own laptop (2007; before this I was using the 3rd-hand one from a relative that came pre-haunted with viruses, lol).. but I digress… When I want to go to the hospital because I was so calm and quiet Ppl didn’t think I was in “active” labor but when they checked me I was8 cm at which point it was “oh sh*t, call the midwife!!!” She was at a horse-show/beach vacation but hurried over; she only had enough time to put on a gown before little Charlotte came! Delivered her in a beach-coverup + surgical gown and flip flops!! (Thank you, Irene Besser!). I couldn’t believe how well it worked; the hypnobabies kit was like $100 at the time (back in CD days) but I ended up saving money, a lot of time,and since I knew I was probably not going to plan a 3rd baby during the end I thought “Remember this! Remember this!” Trying to take in as many details as possible because it really did feel much more connected in a way. Anyways, I’m a pill-popping, hospital-loving, non-mother earth type, and I would absolutely use HypnoBabies again

I tried to go natural, changed my mind after 24 hours of painful contractions and no dilation. Got an epidural, epidural FAILED. They started pitocin and broke my water to get me to dilate. I felt EVERYTHING and the pain and fear got the best of me. I was a screaming banshee and felt so embarrassed afterwards but the nurse said “they don’t call it labor for nothing, darlin’.”

@MPaez-lq5ig

@@oliviaa5559 I agree. Before I got pregnant, I swore I’d never go natural, give me all da drugs lol. Once I was pregnant, I thought “I’ll try natural for as long as I can and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll change my mind.” Unfortunately for me, the waiting 24 hours led to a late epidural which led to them NOT being able to fix it when it was botched because by then the pitocin took over and there was no getting off the ride so to speak. So in the end I had no choice but to go natural. Would I do it all over again? If I absolutely had to, yes. Will I ask for an epidural next time? ABSOLUTELY.

Trying to conceive and from when we first even decided to try I was terrified of the birth element. I'm super squeamish and just find it all horrific and gross to think about. I will like faint when I'm ill and that sort of stuff. Initially I was like NEED to get an elective section but I'm now considering looking into hypnobirthing and water and at least trying that route first. It's weird but I have two approaches which are like the polar opposite because I just hate the idea of induction or any kind of assisted delivery. Love your video style, you're very natural, open and at times a bit ditsy? There's just no fakeness or pretension and I really appreciate that. Makes sense that labor can cause women to go into a sympathetic response (fight or flight). I bet hypnobirthing helps a ton to get more into the parasympathetic state. I’m curious how something else that gets people into parasympathetic (like massage) would help women during labor 🤔

I'm 3 minutes in..its real hippie! Lol yes it is. The book was recommended to me for natural birth, which was in my living room, on a birthing stool. Fun crazy story...i heard about hypnobirthing just days before I ended up in labor so I didn't actually get to use it....will next time for sure

What if you have really quick deliveries. Like first one was induced and the start of labor was 10am to her time of birth 11:45am same day. Second was not induce and start at 4:30am to 9:15am same day. Yeah. I've only had three pregnancy.

Why does everyone try to be quiet when the baby's sleeping? They sleep better with background noise.
@MPaez-lq5ig
@MPaez-lq5ig 3 жыл бұрын
I agree! We made it a rule in our house to NOT make it absolutely quiet while baby is sleeping. We go about our day while she naps with the tv or music on. She sleeps right through it!

I’ve been doing Hypnobirthing track for a while. I had a Hypnobirthing coach come to my house and I did a 5 week class with her for five weeks. Something that I’ve been noticing and running into is that when I listen to any Hypnobirthing tracks on KZbin when the track is over or at some point in the night I am waking up and then I have a hard time falling back asleep. It’s almost like because the person is talking for 45 minutes it isn’t as relaxing as say soothing music might be. So when did you listen to your tracks? Did you find that just putting them in your subconscious during the day works better than at night?

I’m doing the course and reading the book and your content sounds a little different to mine. One of the huge things in HypnoBirthing is that you don’t actually push the baby out. Did you actually push or were you able to breathe the baby down? Maybe it has to do with the method you chose? Did you do the Mongan method?

With my first, I had an epidural and lost all use of my legs. With HypnoBabies can you walk around the halls with the tracks on or do you have to be in bed the whole time?
@heyshayla

You can walk around! I love that you were so mobile! They didn't numb the pain but they made them easy to get through
@SuperRedhead2010

I stayed in my room but I was able to move and walk. If you have informed Nurses they can get you into positions that make contractions easier. For me I could breathe through things easier and focus more in bed. But if movement focuses your brain that is what you need to do.

Yes our bodies are "made to have babies". And I'm not against hypnobirthing in and of itself. But it doesn't always work that way. Things can go wrong and do go wrong. People have issues in pregnancy, infertility, and delivery. Women and babies are not always healthy as they are "supposed" to be. Please talk to your doctor about all the risks that are involved with your own personal health.

I did the hypnobabies course but did not really use it during my labor. I was just extremely relaxed, happy and breathing calmly and had a 1 hour painfree labor at home (second child). With my first I was trashing and screaming during transition in the hospital. So it made a HUGE difference for me to read Ina May and do hypnobabies to be able to relax and just let it happen.

I think if you’re into it it’s still a go! They guide you through the whole thing so it’s not like “clear your mind” it’s more like think of X and imagine your muscles relaxing etc.

I too am not a focused person in terms of meditation but I have gotten so much useful information from my hypnobirthing course. Information I didnt event know I needed to know lol! If I didn't take this, I would have gone almost completely blind. Now I know what to expect when my body does something or what phase I'm in or what things I can deny etc etc. Do it for the info alone.
