I SO recommend this!!! I am in a wheelchair and was putting on a significant amount of weight! I am 61 and Male.I had already eliminated starch, carbs (90%) fats, desserts and snacks. So I was left with eating virtually meat and vegetables for lunch and supper plus whole grain toast or a very, very small bowl of cereal with two boiled eggs. Also I have a VERY slow metabolism. I am unable to exercise to as my legs are non weight bearing. I have M.S. so I have virtually no strength or mobility in my right hand and arm and very reduced in my left. So exercise of ANY sort is out of the question. But with Intermittent I have Breakfast and lunch using the same parameters. I drink PLENTY of WATER infused with lemon. The thing I take are my meds but don't eat till breakfast the next morning. I've been on it for 9 weeks now and have taken off almost 3 INCHES!!! YESS!! THANKS to Intermittent Fasting I DON'T have to feel guilty anymore if I have a dessert or go out for supper or go out with family/friends and have a sweet treat cuz what I'll do is I won't have lunch but then can have supper!! YES!! I FINALLY have control over my weight!!

I followed Jason Fungs advice and reversed my type 2 diabetes. Lost 28lbs and reduced my high blood pressure. Lots of people I have directed to Dr Fung have done the same as they had seen my results. My sister and ex-partner were the first to ask me what I did. I told them and sent them what diet I had created for myself. I always said look at Jason Fungs posts on KZbin First. I have put back on the weight after Christmas 2020, but I'm going to start again and try to keep it off. My last blood test only showed me as on the border of Type 2 so although I have put the weight back on I have kept eating very healthy food most of the time so this change was obviousy very important to the overall changes. I will start my excercise regime back from today. I shall get back to my intermittent fasting. I will also restart my daily weight, blood and blood pressure testing. Thanks Dr Fung.

@@seal0118 well actually many people (including me) fast but the bible says to not brag about it but to keep it private because its a deed between you and God. MATTHEW 6:18 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. During the fast you substain from natural desires(food not water) to reach a higher spiritual goal. That goal: spiritual breakthrough and hearing his Voice is not reached with food because food is always on our minds. Beside from that your prayer has much more impact because God can do so much more in the life of the believer because then your mind because clearer and without food in you head you can fill your thoughts with the Word of God. Many people in the bible did so much wonderfull acts AFTER a period of fasting. Even Jesus fasted. Look up : "Why you should pray and fast" and see for yourself.

@@seal0118 well I respect your faith but this how it goes for those who believe in the bible and we believe that the bible was written through the power of the Holy Ghost but you can encourage other people of course but in the end its only about you and God and not you and other people. Of course in the bible they're are times people fasted TOGETHER and openly but your prayer must no depend on others. We also did fasting together in church but that also means something differebt for everyone: some fast for choclate other for social media but the main point was not to eat pleasant food but rather sober food to set your mind on God.

It's sad the medical industry is not getting this information out there. I've reversed my type 2 in 3 months eating low carb and Intermittent fasting. I have been following the Dr Berg healthy Keto diet and Dr Jason Fung intermittent fasting. High fat moderate protein low carbs and I have also included fasting eating at 6 pm not eating until next day same time frame 1 meal a day. I am officially by the numbers in normal glucose control anywhere from 80-110 after 2 hours of eating my meals, always on the lower end when I add 40 - 60 minutes of walking 4 days of a week. . I've lost 4.2 KG and feel incredibly healthy. I have recently introduced eating twice in a day and increasing my calories, and I have noticed I am on that higher number end but still good for me at 110. I do not take mitformin or any other medications although they are prescribed I don't need them now that I know how to control with diet and exercise. My last visit I told for my doctor I reversed my type 2 she seemed annoyed I was able to achieve such great results without any advice from her. But when she saw my HgbA1C 5.2 I can see from her face she was surprise. OH! It works for you. Huge thanks to Dr Fung and Dr Berg who are telling people proven methods that actually work. He stayed there for two years or so and then he wrote the marriage (wedding) contract with Aishah when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consummated that marriage when she was nine years old. Sahih al-Bukhari 5158-Narrated Urwa: The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death). Sahih Muslim 3310-Aisha reported: Allah’s Apostle married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old. Sahih Muslim 3311-Aisha reported that Allah’s Apostle married her when she was seven years old, and she was taken to his house as a bride when she was nine, and her dolls were with her; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old. Sunan Abu Dawud 2116-Aishah said: The Apostle of Allah married me when I was seven years old. (The narrator Sulaiman said: Or six years.) He had intercourse with me when I was nine years old. Sahih al-Bukhari 3895-Narrated Aishah that the Prophet said to her, “You have been shown to me twice in my dream. I saw you pictured on a piece of silk and someone said (to me), ‘This is your wife.’ When I uncovered the picture, I saw that it was yours. I said, ‘If this is from Allah it will be accomplished.’” After having this dream about Aisha (who couldn’t have been more than six years old at the time), Muhammad proceeded to ask her father Abu Bakr for her hand in marriage. Abu Bakr understandably objected at first, but Muhammad was able to persuade him to consent. Sahih al-Bukhari 5081-Narrated Urwa: The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for Aishah’s hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said, “But I am your brother.” The Prophet said, “You are my brother in Allah’s religion and His Book, but she (Aishah) is lawful for me to marry.” The marriage contract was subsequently written. However, Aisha became extremely ill, so she wasn’t taken to his house for consummation until three years later: Sahih al-Bukhari 3894-Narrated Aishah: My marriage (wedding) contract with the Prophet was written when I was a girl of six (years). We came to Al-Madina and we dismounted at the place of Bani Al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on, my hair grew (again) and my mother, Umm Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became normal, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Messenger came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. Once Aisha was a part of Muhammad’s household, she became his favorite wife, even after he had married several other women. Indeed, Muhammad’s other wives had to plead with him for equal treatment (to no avail): Sahih al-Bukhari 2581-Narrated Urwa that Aishah said: “The wives of Allah’s Messenger were in two groups.” Urwa added: One group consisted of Aishah, Hafsa, Safiyya and Sauda; and the other group consisted of Umm Salama and the other wives of Allah’s Messenger. The Muslims knew that Allah’s Messenger loved Aishah, so if any of them had a gift and wished to give to Allah’s Messenger, he would delay it till Allah’s Messenger had come to Aishah’s home and then he would send his gift to Allah’s Messenger in her home. The group of Umm Salama discussed the matter together and decided that Umm Salama should request Allah’s Messenger to tell the people to send their gifts to him in whatever wife’s house he was. Umm Salama told Allah’s Messenger of what they had said, but he did not reply. Then they (those wives) asked Umm Salama about it. She said, “He did not say anything to me.” They asked her to talk to him again. She talked to him again when she met him on her day, but he gave no reply. When they asked her, she replied that he had given no reply. They said to her, “Talk to him till he gives you a reply.” When it was her turn, she talked to him again. He then said to her, “Do not hurt me regarding Aishah, as the Divine Revelations do not come to me on any of the beds except that of Aishah.” Thus, Aisha held a place of special favor among Muhammad’s wives, which caused a great deal of tension among the women. Since it may be taken as historically certain that Aisha was very young when her marriage to Muhammad was consummated, critics sometimes charge that Muhammad’s preference for Aisha reveals his preference for young girls. We find some amount of support for this view in Sahih al-Bukhari: Sahih al-Bukhari 2967-Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: . . . When I took the permission of Allah’s Messenger, he asked me whether I had married a virgin or a matron and I replied that I had married a matron. He said, “Why hadn’t you married a virgin who would have played with you, and you would have played with her?” I replied, “O Allah’s Messenger! My father died (or was martyred) and I have some young sisters, so I felt it not proper that I should marry a young girl like them who would neither teach them manners nor serve them.” Sahih al-Bukhari 6130-Narrated Aishah: I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah’s Messenger used to enter (my dwelling place), they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for Aishah at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) You're welcome. 🙂

My wife fasts everyday. We are Indians but atheists, so there is no religious connection to our fasts. She does it for health reasons. She does 18/6 for 4 days a week and 24 hours fasting for 3 days. Her HBA1C is 4.8. She also looks way younger than her age. Eats no junk. No sugaror gluten. Occasional grains. No dairy. She does moderate fat, moderate protein and low carbohydrates. Includes coconut in her food daily. Beetroot and carrots, bottle guards, peppers and cucumbers everyday. Green leafy vegetables daily. So it comes to almost 10 cups of vegetables and greens daily. And additionally 2 cups of cruciferous vegetables daily. For protein it is mostly fish. Boils chicken feet for 24 hours and drinks that broth. Says it heals the gut. Also drinks mutton bone broth. Fats are mostly coconut oil and animal fats. One spoon of ghee.

He also said best fasting type was David's fast.... prophet David fasted every other day...... also prophet Mohammad fasted monday and thursday every week and 13th 14th 15th of every lunar month.... so other than ramadan we were encouraged to fast so all my brothers and sisters.... don't eat yourself to death... food was meant to provide us with energy and nutrients... not to kill us.... eat to live but not live to eat

It is hard for beginners who has been addicted to fast food. But your health is so worth it. I started on my healthy eating journey by getting rid of refined sugar in my diet, and consequently, sweet carbs, pastries, etc. I only take palm or muscovado unprocessed sugar and only in my coffee. Everything else, I flavor with natural sweeteners like spices and fruits and raw honey. Then I started taking away baked breads from my diet. I rarely eat baked goodies anymore which is hard for me at the beginning as I love desserts. I even took two years of Pastry Arts Management school because of my love for desserts. I started eating more veggies than meat. It is hard to get away from yum bacon, but I did it. I eat more fish and chickens now than red meat. This week, I started my first ever fasting. I am on my 3rd day. Two days I had 3pm-7pm as my window of eating a full meal. 3rd day is going off on food from 7pm last night to Thursday at 11am. Wish me luck! :) From the Catholic Gentleman: Monday - 20 hour water-only fast (Sunday 7pm-Monday 3pm). Eating window: 3pm-7pm Tuesday - 20 hour water-only fast (Monday 7pm-Monday 3pm). Eating window: 3pm-7pm Wednesday - 40 hour water-only fast (Tuesday 7pm-Thursday 11am) Thursday - Two meals, lunch and dinner Friday - 40 hour water-only fast (Thursday 7pm-Saturday 11am) Saturday - Two meals, lunch and dinner Sunday - No fast, but no sugar, carbs or any junk food

I started my weight loss journey 10 months ago. I started with having 2 small meals a day, one at lunch mostly ate a can of tuna and a slice of bread 🍞 and dinner which was some kind of (unfortunately) canned soup 🥣 and a salad 🥗 needles to say it was very low calorie and left me hangry and grumpy. It worked but I knew it wasn’t healthy and it was unsustainable. I did drop my weight from 200 pounds to 175 over about 2.5 months. I knew I needed to drop more and learned about intermittent fasting. Well I can tell you that this is the way to go for weight loss and better health. For the last 5.5 months or so I have been doing one ☝️ meal a day. I eat dinner only at around 6:30 and done by 7:30. I do intermittent fasting Monday to Friday and eat relatively normal on the weekends making healthy food choices. I am now 155 pounds and down from a 36 inch waste to a 29. This intermittent fasting has now become the way I live my life, in other words it’s not a temporary diet but a permanent life style change. Honestly its absolutely a game changer. No need to count calories no need to worry about what you eat just try make better food choices 75% of the time and NEVER snack!! I drink black coffee ☕️ and water 💦 during my fasting days and absolutely nothing else.

I am doing this now and for the longest time, i've never felt this good physically, mentally, and even emotionally! I have thyroid issues and was always thinking of how impossible it would be for me to lose weight because of my disorder but intermittent fasting proved me wrong. I started with my heaviest weight of 67/68 kg(i''m only 162.5cm btw), and after a month of fasting, i lost 7kg. What i did was start with 16:8, then turned it into 24hrs fasting. Honestly, it was a very easy transition because i don't do any rigorous exercise so i am always full of energy and i don't feel hungry at all. In case people are wondering, i don't restrict myself of ANY food. I eat whatever i want may it be carbs or high in calorie food. In my case, since i am from the Philippines, i eat white rice every single day paired with a protein. Of course i control my portions at the beginning and it was hard but naturally my body and mind adjusted with my lifestyle change and fasting for 24 hours(tbh sometimes i eat before reaching 24 hrs and sometimes more than 24hrs) became so easy as if i've been doing it for years. I believe if people really wanted to see changes in their bodies, they should treat intermittent fasting as a lifestyle and not as a diet. Turn it into a part of your life and see amazing changes! I've never felt so physically strong and i feel more energetic throughout the day even if i don't consume anything. I know some people might be triggered or see this as a "starvation" but no. I just want yall to know that my body has completely adapted to my change, and if i feel hungry before reaching 24 hours, i of course eat. What i am trying to say is even if i followed a 24hr fasting rule, i still listen to my body when it is asking for something to eat. But yall should know the differences when which is asking for food. Is it really your body or your mind? Anyway, i am hoping to reach my goal which is 50kg in maybe less than 2 months. 😊

If you truly study the dietary laws in the Bible...they promoted health! Pork and shell fish in that day would have been very dangerous. Whenever God asked people to fast in the Bible...there was more to it...than just simply starving. The benefits are now being realized from a health stand point. Fasting is amazing! The hunger does slowly disappear. The first and second days are hard, but I've done a seven day fast and I LOVE FOOD! If I can do it...anyone can. I didn't fast to lose weight...I just felt like God wanted me to. I felt like the number 7 was what I needed to do. It's crazy how after two days...I was never really hungry.

If we fast we would be healthier, mentally sharp, no more eating our self to an early death and along the way being sick and fat that we can’t enjoy our life while we are alive. Our profits did t eat much and definitely not the way we are barbarically raising animals. Our land and ozone will be better. We will be kinder to each other and all living beings.

Incredibly true!!! Remember fast food joints, sugary coffee shops, bakeries, pharmaceuticals, cattlemen associations abd big corporations are looking to keep us sick!!! But if you fast one month out of the year (water fast especially if you are over weight) and if you are not overweight to eat a very healthy clean diet of organic free roaming (not ones labeled) grass fed in your grocery stores that get to stay in a slaughterhouse holding pens for three months .... yes those poor grass fed cows .... they ingest those poor cows with GMO corn abs soy to bulk them up undoing the farm grass fed farmers intentions. Pigs are even worse. Stay away from eating them all together. Chicken full of chemicals. Also, if you are a diet that is high in nutritional fiber rich plants abs veggies and very low amounts of clean, healthy proteins and enjoy the healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oils is great!!! Add salt it’s okay. You will not have water retention as your body is eliminating them on a high fat no sugar/starch diet and moderate protein diet!

Hello.. I am new to your community. thank you for your helpful videos! I am a homogenous APOE4 carrier - which puts me at the highest genetic risk for late onset Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease. If you know anything about this then you know that the wise choice for a way to eat is a whole food, plant based diet. As an APOE4 carrier my body tends to hyper-absorb saturated fats and cholesterol - even saturated plant based fats i.e. coconut oil, palm kernel oil and cocoa butter. I have undergone numerous lipid profiles, some more detailed than others, which have indicated that any added dietary cholesterol and saturated fats to my diet results in an elevation of both my triglycerides and LDL. Therefore, a lot of what is proposed for the ketogenic diet can actually harm those of us who carry APOE4 (which is approximately 15% of the US popluation). To help mitigate my risk factors, I eat a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables, other colorful veggies and fruits, orange and purple sweet potatoes, lots of beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, and complex carbohydrates in the form of quinoa, brown , black and wild rice, oats, millet and barley. All of my fats and proteins are plant based - very little, if any oil (EVOO & avocado, only). No foods containing preservatives, that are heavily processed - usually not processed at all (thus "whole"), no added sugars, etc. I began the 16-8 intermittent fasting regime over a month ago. Fantastic! This is the pattern of intermittent fasting that has been recommended by Dale Bredesen, M.D. (an internationally recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurogenerative diseases & researcher out of California who specializes in Alzheimer's risk mitigation and in some cases reversal of symptoms in the early stages of dementia). Please provide more information in your videos for those of us who cannot eat a ketogenic diet for health reasons. It seems like everyone and their grandma is on this high meat, high fat diet - which the majority of the nutritional research indicates is extremely dangerous to maintain for anyone, not to mention for those who are APOE4 carriers (please read, if you haven't already "The China Study," by T. Colin Campbell, Phd & Thomas M. Campbell II, MD).

Fasting essentially is reducing calories. So why doesn’t your metabolism slow down when you are putting in zero calories?
@rakshas69256 жыл бұрын
it's a naturally selected mechanism. if ancient humans were to slow down every bodily function after periods of no food they died quite quickly. no healthy human now would do that because we have good genes.
@ciao6146 жыл бұрын
Because your metabolism speeds up because you're now burning fat.
@flash92gaming6 жыл бұрын
As far as I have read, metabolism slows down when you are at risk of starvation as a natural response for survival. If you have an abundance of fat to burn, the body will not slow down the metabolism as you are not as risk of starvation. Basically, if you are very lean, you shouldn't fast too much because then your metabolism will have to drop due to the risk of starvation and you will lose muscle since it is more "expensive" for the body to maintain if you have too much muscle in proportion to fat (more so at "shredded" body fat levels). If you are at a nomal/healthy body fat level (or even more towards the overweight side) then fasting should not impair your metabolism. People on calorie-restricted diets with no fasting seem to have "slower" metabolism because they tend to eat more frequently and so insulin is never at a minimal level, thus causing them to store fat from meals due to insulin being too high (especially from junk food for a lot of iifym followers) and losing muscle as their bodies have to compensate for the caloric deficit by burning muscle instead of fat (as insulin spikes reduces fat burning regardless of the deficit, you still burn some fat though, just not as much...). Essentially they never let their bodies efficiently burn just fat for fuel with the elevated insulin levels and so they lose a lot of muscle along with the fat from the caloric deficit. As for caloric needs often dropping after prolonged fasting, that is not your metabolism "slowing down". When you lose weight, you literally have less mass to maintain so metabolism is decreasing on an absolute basis but not on a proportionate or pound-for-pound basis. Exaggerated example: similar to how a child will need mushc less food to survive than an adult, a smaller body needs fewer calories than a bigger body. Both muscle and fat need calories to be maintained, you lose either and your caloric needs drop. I honestly don't know the validity of the sources of this information as I read such things from a friend's Nutrition notes a while back just out of interest, but they sounded pretty logical to me.
@scuzum2u6 жыл бұрын
westfield90 It’s about being in a parasympathetic vs. sympathetic state. In the former you are typically slowed down, this is our “rest and digest” function. Sympathetic is our “fight or flight” so we are in a state of higher alertness and relying upon stored energy. This is why you get sleepy after a big meal. Eating promotes inactivity, by design, so you slow down and digest properly. Nobody wants heartburn ya know? This is good shit.

westfield90 You can fast without reducing calories. Fasting is not reducing calories, it is *depleting* sugars.

I've been on intermittent fasting for 10 weeks. I changed my diet slightly to include kale based salad to replace potatoes with most meals. Otherwise i have not changed much in diet. I've gone from 286 lbs to 256 lbs, and I feel wonderful! My goal of 200lbs that seemed impossible 3 months ago, now is definitely possible! I now understand that my weight-loss is a by product of my better overall health. Watch out for mood swings. I don't know if it's hormonal change brought on by the fasting or something else, but I experienced some temporary deep depression during week 7.

I fasted a couple years ago and went from 145 lbs to 180 lbs in 3 months. I never thought I would be able to loose the weight and I felt like a new person
