It is NOT a coincidence that many of these parents are overweight themselves.... Edit: I'm not trying to poke fun or be hurtful. I'm pointing out that the parents disordered eating habits are reflected in the childs' weights

Yeah, especially if their first comfort is binge eating, I wonder where they would get that from? I wonder who kept giving such high amounts of food, at a young age, that would impact their growth and perception on diets, and would later always leave them hungry after normal amounts? Strange. It’s almost like someone pushed that lifestyle onto them. (Obviously /s here, cause we all know it’s the parents getting them started on these terrible lifestyles.)

I think a healthy weight is all about moderation. You can eat McDonald's, but don't go for the big Mac, large fry, and large drink and a dessert. I get a single hamburger, a small fry, and a large coke, and I feel stuffed afterwards. I don't know how people eat like a Big Mac and a Large Fry and a Large Coke, I would feel like comatose eating all of that. I've lost 50 lbs recently and eating McDonald's hasn't slowed me down, I don't stop myself from eating the things I want, it's about moderation and calories in calories out.

@@AbigailsCorner4444 That is nice to hear Mcdonald's in the UK or Europe may have the option to switch the drinks to water instead of coke. Where I am from in South East Asia, Malaysia, the McDonalds here do not even have water as a drink option, heck all fast-food chain franchises only offer soft drinks ( KFC, A&W, Burger King) though Mcdonalds may sell tea and coffee, there is no option to switch to that for those meal set of burger with soda and fries.

@@aarondeer5719 okay, I'm not technically overweight (I've been dancing for 12 years, am pretty thin, and weigh like 140) but when you are a child you do what your parents say. I stayed thin as a child because I was in a dance studio at least a hour a dance 4-5 times a week by the time I was two. But, parents tell their kids to go on their phones, to go read, and such. A 6 year old can't say "I don't want to eat pizza and then take a nap." They do what mom and dad say. After 14 is when kids can start making their own decisions about their weight and how they feel about it. Because 14 yearold are in the final 4 years before they are legally a adult and can fully make their own decisions. So, some of these kids it's not their fault if mom gave them a burger every day. Not gonna lie sounds a bit like behavioural problems above a parent’s control. It's not that fats are bad. They're just fed more than they burn. It's literally as simple as calories in, calories out. It doesn't help that the foods that they buy or make are high in saturated fats. Those are linked to heart disease, saturated fats clogging arteries therefore increasing blood pressure and risk of heart disease. The parents are literally setting her up for a miserable life. A short one at that. Type 2 diabetes doesn't exactly sound fun at that age either.

Really annoying how the parents of these kids seem to act like it’s entirely their children’s fault for being heavy when in reality the parents are the ones who gave them the food that they’re no currently addicted to. Like if you expect your child to take responsibility you have to as well!

Me and my sister, raised by same parents, same food, same attention. I'm 170 cm, 63 kg , she was 180 cm, 135 kg. She had weight loss surgery at 23, my mother was desperate with her. So it's not all the time the parents fault. Some children will eat bread and sugar, parents can t lock all the food from them. My mom tried her best, my sister was let s say chubby when she was living with my parents. But when she went to college and had her own money, she became obese.

I understand where you are coming from, but many parents feel pushed to feel their children because they would feel entitled to continue giving and if they stop, it's bad. A more effective step would be, the school menu and instead of chips everyday, they could be given tastier but better alternatives.

I think one of the first steps to achieving weight loss is focusing on your mental state first. A lot of food addictions start with emotional roots. Like how one of the boys in the documentary said he ate often out of boredom. And personally, I've experienced linking food as rewards for good deeds. We need to realize that food is a resource - not a prize, not a form of entertainment. It's to keep us alive. Once working on getting rid of that attachment issue, it helps with differentiating what's healthy for you and what isn't.

Personally I'd find it much easier to drink 6 liters of Coke a day than water. Sugar also causes a chemical reaction in your brain to make you happy because it tastes good. This is why I try to avoid sugar, and I think most people should do the same. It can be very addictive.

these kids should be getting phycological help as much as the physical for the amount they eat. these teenagers show signs of binge eating disorder which should be treated as a mental health problem just as much as the physical.
@riverdaisy4215

Unfortunately most eating disorders are treated as physical illnesses rather than mental health issues that cause some physical complications. They make kids with BED restrict calories and lose weight the same way they put kids with anorexia on feeding tubes and gain weight then send them home. That’s also why most of the time when sufferers of eating disorders receive treatment they relapse treatments given hardly work it’s sad

being overweight is bad. being obese is bad. but you know what’s worse? bullying someone who’s going through it. if you’re reading this, please just remember the impact that words can have on someone. they hurt, so much. we need to encourage a healthy lifestyle, not shame others for their weight. ❤️ stay safe, everyone. stay healthy, do exercise, eat responsibly! ✨ edit: yes, being obese and all is bad for your health, but the whole point of this comment is letting y’all know that bullying someone for it isn’t going to make the situation much better.
