I was an Army MP for 12 years. I would say pick a different MOS because you will be overworked yet still get paid the same as other MOS's that work a regular Mon-Fri 9-5 schedule in garrison. In my experience I worked somewhere around 80 hours a week and did do a few 100 work weeks in garrison due to being undermanned at most posts/bases (There are some sham duty stations for MP's. Good luck getting them). If you were to work the same hours as a civilian police officer you would be making six figures in overtime. You have to remember that your day doesn't end after you work your shift of law enforcement. You may need to go to your company after or before shift to do paperwork or attend mandatory training. You may need to go to the motor pool to conduct maintenance on your ASV's and Humvees. You may need to do barracks maintenance/cleanup or IF you're a leader check on, inspect, or counsel your soldiers. Also, you may not even be working law enforcement. You could be put on gate guard duty which is a mind numbingly boring job. It's just not worth it no matter how much you think you want to be in law enforcement. Just be a civilian police officer instead or choose a different MOS. Additionally, promotion points are generally higher for MP's due to small Regiment size.

Or they did a certain MOS for the same reason. They get to their first unit, hate their choice, and commit suicide. If they don't do the last part, they still hate their lives. Do whatever branch and MOS *YOU* want... I hate when people say what you just said. Stop being a sheep, and do what *YOU* want, dude......

One day going into Fort Bliss my buddy lowered the passenger window as I was driving and we had already passed the gate guard and it was windy AF and spit away from the car toward the sand but the spit flew back and hit the guard on the chest and my heart sank . So naturally we where screwed even though it was unintentional . The guard got his buddy’s and drew his weapon and had us exit the vehicle get on our knees while he proceeded to ask what unit my friend was in and lectured us on federal officer rites . MF wind kicks up at the wrong moment and my boy was flipping rocks on base for two weeks as a punishment, he was literally told he had to flip rocks so they would tan properly 🤣🤣🤣. Smh . Most army bases are run by civilian DOD police. The chances of you actually getting stationed at a base with traditional military police is very slim. Most of the army military police is combat MP, which is a fancy name for infantry. You'll spend most of your days training in the woods, learning infantry tactics. If you're one of the few that actually get stationed at a base that still has military police, you'll only be doing it half of the time. You rotate in and out of the field with other units. If you're still wanting to do traditional 100% military police, you need to join the Marines, Air Force, or Navy. The Army won't change the name military police to what they're actually doing, it should be called light infantry on wheels. The Army knows the name military police sells, and it helps them meet their recruiting goals in the infantry field.

Hey bro prior service Infantry, this is one of the jobs open to me for the Army. Obviously I don’t want to go Infantry route again because I want to learn new things. Can you confirm that the Army’s new age of MP is just a fancy cover up for Infantry? Because i do remember seeing MP’s slowly get replaced by guys in blue but the actual Job still had a good amount of traditional MP dudes. I’m just asking because I don’t know anything about the Army and I’m researching every job that I qualified for. Thank you in advance!
@mikedean19434 жыл бұрын
@@haroutdemirjian8831 hey it is true and there are only a few bases left that have 100% traditional MPS. The chances of you getting that base are very slim. Plus you have to keep in mind if you got lucky eventually you'll get transferred. Also keep in mind with the Army and the Marine Corps, getting promoted is not who you are or what you do it's based on the MOS you pick and The Cutting score. You pick the wrong MOS and you're going to retire as an E6, if you pick the right, you'll easily retire as an E9. Look at the Army cutting scores online and find you one that has low cutting scores. In general if it's low at the bottom you're going to have a good chance of getting promoted all the way to the top. Military police in the Army is also very slow promoting because it's a flooded MOS. If you need help finding the MOS cutting scores I can send you the link
@mikedean19434 жыл бұрын
@@haroutdemirjian8831 also keep in mind the benefits aren't there like they used to be. The retirement is chump change. You are already locked in for VA benefits , if I was you I would recommend finding state employment. E 7 retires with an average pay, of 24,000 a year, and E 9 isn't much better. I'll give you an example Pennsylvania give you 75% of your base pay with overtime for retirement. State troopers and correctional officers are retiring with an average of $80,000 a year for the rest of their life. You'll have to do extensive research with each state generally the states that are on the Eastern side, starting with Virginia down to Florida it's real shity, if you go north it's really really good. Out west it's hit and miss.
@haroutdemirjian88314 жыл бұрын
Mike Dean I know all about promotions lol I got out as a E3, no NJP’s, or I think army calls it article 15s, no bad conduct, no rank demotions, I always got expert on the range, 1st class pft and cft, passed multiple courses, meritorious awards etc etc and still an E3 😂 but damn you make solid points good sir, but even if I do get unlucky how bad can life really be? Infantry life sucked golf balls I’m sure anything else would be a walk in the park but obviously I don’t want to be complacent or go in with a bad attitude. I did find out that certain states N. Dakota for example has a accelerated program for Army/Marine MPs that allow you to basically skip academy in exchange of a 2 week course that helps you prepare for the civilian aspect of law enforcement. But again I have no clue how the Army works (outside of infantry) but I’m very open minded hence why I ask questions before making decisions and let those with more knowledge give me advice. Now with what has been said what do you recommend as an MOS that is beneficial with a decent promotion rate along with a somewhat steady work schedule? And what civilian jobs do you recommend in general (I live in LA) so I’m not informed on matters outside of Cali! Thank you in advance bro

You will be dispatched to anything from someone just needing help to an actual emergency situation via 911 call during your road cycle. You will also rotate between different cycles and participate in ranges, field exercises, and other training events. I can literally promise you, you’ll always be doing something.

Qwerty Pro are the chances of deploying as an MP high?
@CFHDime5 жыл бұрын
Max Combs ehh just depends where you’re stationed and what details you’re on. I was at Ft Polk in the line units, deployments depend on needs of the army. MP is combat support so you can deploy to do PSD or regular shit on a FOB. You’re more likely to go to Korea. I was there, it’s nice but sucks at same time.

Qwerty Pro so depending on what base your at, you could have a higher chance to deploy?

I'm Brasilian and we only have military police and the investigation squad. Our reality is extremely violent, so the police needs to be more "aggressive".

What do you Guys actually do? I'm considering this because I was a police officer for my city, but I failed field training . How is this different from being a police officer for the city ? I would love to do this if I guaranteed the job and it will help me when I re apply for city departments

@@chelseascott2294 what I’ve heard it goes both ways. The army hates the Mp’s cause their the ones that gives the tickets holds them up and some other stuff. But they say the same thing about law enforcement and how their pigs and stop stupid people make horrible decisions. Also they stop the fun but if people are doing stupid shit they won’t have to do it. It goes both ways tbh
