@Codraroll
@Codraroll 4 жыл бұрын
It would have been a very old song by that time. If Romeo and Juliet was contemporary fiction when it debuted (late in the 1590s), the medieval period would have been over for more than a hundred years by then. It would be about as modern to Juliet as Gilbert and Sullivan is today. Then again, people do sing Gilbert and Sullivan songs to this day, so it might have worked well for him anyway. Certainly captured her heart and all that.

What's truly icredible about this is how Hildegard manages to incorporate old English into modern pop songs and still make them sound just as, if not more catchy. I read in an interview that you're now also teaching yourself how to make the arrangements and edit the instrumental. I would absolutely love a sole Hildegard piece. Remembering singing "Hey Nonny Nonny No" style lyrics in Choir back in the day for a Medieval Medley and feeling sort of silly. I STAND CORRECTED! She makes it, like, super cool!!!! *Note to my younger self....You didn't know what you had at the time! Yay Choir Director for introducing us to this style of music!!!! I love how well this version is done and I really appreciate how different people have come about with their own style. I really love how this sounds like a genuine translation of the lyrics especially with female vocals makes it sound super surreal. I find the_miracle_aligner version is also just as brilliant even with with how "incorrect" words are translated because songs like these aren't supposed to be super serious either. Happy to have a community form under Sir Cornelius Link, just as with the comments section of the Medieval Party Mix :>
