Okay so I was confused by what Nero bedlam lament was. So I looked up all the meanings separately. And from what I’ve gathered… she wants someone from a dark skinned race to drive her insane and make her wail without ceasing. In other words. She wants some dude to rock her world all night!
@NeurodivergentAntifa2 жыл бұрын
@@xFoxOne Um, she changed the lyric "I want your psycho" to "I want thy Nero", which made me think of the Roman Emperor who threw Christians to the lions/used them as torches for his parties and is said to have caused the Great Fire of Rome and fiddled while his empire was literally burning around him I'm guessing it's that versus the dark skinned part, but the bedlam lament sounds accurate

Historic fact: this song was written by the great Joan of Arc during her imprisonment by the English. As Joan was illiterate, the beautiful melody and the original French lyrics was actually transcript by the prison guards as they were haunted by the beautiful melody of the song. After her execution, the song found its way back to France, it became one of the most popular folk songs in Norman. After the horrible plague, the song was largely forgotten, until Shakespeare found the original sheets of musics during one time travelling in France. He decided rewrote the lyrics in English, and premiered it during the play of his now famous comedy “A midsummer Night’s dream”. The song resurged in its popularity, and the French court rediscovered this long lost piece of art. According to the diaries of the servants of Louis XIV, the sun king himself had to listen a certain set of playlist during his dinner time, and this song was amongst the most often played. After the French Revolution, before the execution of Marie Antoinette, the Queen pled to listen to the song one more time before getting on the guillotine. The song slowly faded after the revolution, but was still a common tune during the industrial revolution in London. Even Queen Victoria, were found to have quoted the lyrics of the song in her many many love letters to Prince Albert. However, after entering the 20th century, the song was slowly forgotten by the public since with the popularity of radio, new music were spreading quickly while old traditional ones are mostly forgotten. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Stefani Germanotta, professional known as Lady Gaga, rediscovered this song during her studies in the NYU, in the old archives of the library, and proceed to cover the song in her album the fame monster. The song quickly regained its prevalence again and was at one time the most viewed video on a digital platform named KZbin. In the following decades, people largely forgot the story of the origin of the song, until a medieval version of the song resurfaced on the internet.

Eh, I think it would actually be something like "Ich lest þi adle," or a more modern version could be, "Ich wisshen for thi disese." (Middle English is all over the place, and I'm not entirely sure on grammar because of that and my own ignorance. However, it is very obvious when you are using Early Modern English instead of Middle English). Actually, I believe disese fits better since it includes both physical illness and abstract illness, such as "a troubled state of affairs" or "that which inflicts hardship or misery." Not sure if lest is appropriate. I know you can use it when saying "HE wants." Can also use list. "Him lest" or "him list."

I have been listening to these songs for the past hour and came up with this story for the following songs on this channel (as of when this comment was written). Bad romance, Somebody that I used to know, Jolene, and Summertime Sadness. Part one: Bad Romance There was once a young common girl who lived in a small village near the castle. She was nothing special, not any different from the other village girls her age, but on one of the rare days that the Royal king and his son, the prince, came to that village, the royal son and the young common girl’s eyes met. It was unmistakable that the two loved each other from the first stare. When no one was watching or paying much attention, the royal son came to the to the common girl and whispered quickly and quietly to her: “Meet me tonight at the lake at moon high.” The young common girl could not believe her ears. Did he really just say that? Before she could get a conformation, the royal son and the king left. Moon high came. And, despite the young common girl believing she imagined the whole interaction with the prince, she went to the lake. But there he was looking at her with a loving and longing look. The common girl? She was astounded. The two talked for hours, about their lives, their interest, and their unbreakable love for each other. But there was something about this love that could not be ignored: the son was a royal and the girl was a commoner. It was a sin! It was bad! But to them in that moment, and the many nights to come, none of that mattered to them. It was a summer the common girl would never forget. She wanted so desperately for it to last forever. But one night came when the prince didn’t show. She came back the next night and the next, but he never came back. Part two: Out now in the comment section of Somebody that I used to know (medieval version)

After a lucky find, experts found hidden music sheets in a Medieval castle. For about a few years of researching and painstaking work, scientists and historians were able to piece and replicate a song found on the stone grounds. Remarkably, experts also found more music sheets and found faded signatures on the top right-hand corner. It was found that the music had been made by an extraordinary female noble by the name of Lady Gagatha II. The wonders of the historic world never fails to amaze me. Hopefully the experts can recreate another one of her songs!

@@MisteurBear I don't have expertise in Early Modern English. I am just a German native speaker with a master degree in linguistics who accidentally had to read a few Shakespear poems in 12th grad. However, due to the similarities between earlier stages of English and standard modern German it is quite easy for me to spot obvious mistakes. In fact, I think that every English native speaker who translates an English text to Middle English or Old English, should give his translation to a native German linguist, because we simply see immediately when the verb is not at the right position, when someone confused "thou" with "thee" and so on... Because you English speakers may have studied Old English/ Middle English really well, but all the things that you gave up (conjugations, declensions, noun cases, genders) are still present in German.

As if to say, I want thy cruelty or Darkness. If Im not mistaken I believe in latin Nero means Black though Im sure Im missing something there.
