I was a Wilson player for a long time but the problem is that they don’t offer one true tweener line that is all-around good at many things like Head does with the Speed, Babolat with the Aeros, Tecnifibre with the TFights, or Yonex with the Ezones. Most of their racquets are under-powered except for the Ultras, and the Ultras are uncomfortable, lack feel, and only come in one head size. Nowadays, everyone can use a little bit more pop and forgiveness even if they play a control frame. And they shouldn’t have to make an all-or-nothing decision between thick beam and 100 sq inch head or thin beam and 97/98. I switched last year to the last generation Technifibre TF40 and it is a better version of the Blade with more power. I imagine that the new TFights are even better based on the reviews. Wilson has not offered a viable alternative. The Blade V9 98 and Pro Staffs were pretty good, but compared with what the other brands offer, they look a little long in the tooth. But given the dedicated following both have had over the years, myself included for the Pro Staffs, I don’t think they want to change the formula too much. However, Wilson should think about a TFight-type frame that ups the ante on free power but leaves the rest of a winning formula alone.
@cesarelodesani13849 күн бұрын
@@randrothify maybe the wilson shift 99?
@randrothify8 күн бұрын
@ Agreed, it could be, but I think the Shift is a bit idiosyncratic with its vertical flex and what many people says is a strange feel. I don’t know because I have never plated with one but all the reviews I have seen lead me to believe that it is a polarizing racket. What Wilson needs is something that is a good all-around frame that anyone can play with. They already have it and it is the Blade. What they need to do is give it a bit more power like Technifibre did with the TFight.
