@sunmarsh3 жыл бұрын
@@SurvivingArchitecture I should note that my undergrad degree was not in Architecture, so I did not have the same foundation or frame of reference going into a masters program that you had. That said, the main issue with the program was that the professors were, generally speaking, not skilled teachers. Nor did they actually know how to use the digital tools we were expected to use to produce the work. This often meant that they had unrealistic expectations, and did not make suggestions that took into consideration the digital tools at our disposal. The studios were also not oriented towards practical skills or knowledge that would be used in the real world. Instead, the emphasis was on the theoretical or academic aspect of the discipline, which, with some exceptions, is generally unnecessarily verbose and yet lacking in any actual depth. I felt like I came out of the program with much less creativity and confidence in myself and my work, despite the fact that my skills continued to improve throughout my time there. The culture of overwork also took a toll on me both mentally and physically, and my ability to fall and stay asleep has yet to recover.
