What is Monolithsoft's First Nintendo Switch 2 Game...??

Monolithsoft is one of my favorite developers and they are certainly a powerhouse developer for NIntendo. Their first project on Nintendo Switch 2 will be a show piece for what the system is capable of! In this video I have some predictions on what that first game could look like and also debunking some ideas of what it could be. Leaker and insider Midori has also claimed that there is a project in the works at Monolithsoft and we'll be talking about that too.

I honestly don't think they can do a sequel to X, before they put out the first one in a remastered form. To much of the story would be missing for the players that didn't experience X on the WiiU, turning those players away. This game deserves a sequel, no doubt. But what it really deserves, are more players falling in love with it.

A new IP would be something really cool to see from MonolithSoft, a little rest before they continue Xenoblade. I want to see what more they can do with a different gameplay or world structure.

Even though I don’t know a lot about Xenoblade lore, from a business perspective - it would make sense to have more releases, remasters, and sequels after its success on Switch. I see three games, and continued support on Switch 1 for a bit longer than expected. I do see a Xenoblade Chronicles X remaster as a cross-gen release for Switch 1&2, because there’s no way Nintendo would abandon the Switch 1 audience for this franchise so soon. If Chronicles X remaster sells well, than a sequel to it is very likely for Switch 2 exclusively down the road. Towards the end of Switch 2’s life I then see the Xenoblade trilogy continued in part 4 or re-released on Switch 2 - that or Nintendo taking Xenosaga back if this series’ sales continue to flourish. As for Legacy… this new medieval IP or maybe even connecting it to this rumored Princess Zelda game is the only thing I can think of.

Legacy does sound like a remake/remaster code name, and I would love a Xenoblade X definitive edition, but more likely it’s probably going to be a new IP. We know they’ve been working on one for half-a-decade now.

No matter what it is, after playing the Xenoblade Klaus Saga and being very impressed in general as well as learning from their prior history (struggles and successes). I'm all the more for it, on what their next game is for the Switch 2. New IP or Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition. I'll be there!

Tbh, code name aside, my expectation has always been that X Definitive would be the next Monolith release. But clearly based on the code name this is going to be a remake of the classic NES game Legacy Of The Wizard.

saga is so old that at this point is almost forgotten. Also a lot of people me include think that the last scene in future redeem is the ending of saga and bandai namca is listed in the credits even when there was no mention of xeno saga, also the ¨radio¨ that was like crying HEY THIS IS XENOSAGA RELATED check luxin video for more info, if saga became relevant to the xenoblade world it need to be retcon and not a litle like how DE change alvis key necklace for a core crystal but a huge retcon at that point can be consider a new game like xenoblade legacy saga and be a new trilogy.

Xenoblade X and Starfox Zero are the only first party WiiU exclusives that haven’t been ported or had a sequel on Switch, and both very heavily relied on the Gamepad.

I think the image of the girl with the crossbow was a cancelled 3ds game. Besides that a lot of monolith is made up of concept artists who have routinely delivered work for in house competitions. I don't know if we can take any of these concept arts beyond face value but it's fun to do so. I think they've been working on a new IP also. I hope it has a unique premise and more action combat than their previous titles

Monolith Soft is Xenoblade AND Zelda. A lot of Monolith's staff worked on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

The easiest way to think of kyojin is to think of the anime shingeki no kyojin aka attack on titan and a titan is a large human so kyojin = titan or at least that’s how I’d take to translating the word which makes sense since the first xenoblade takes place on the bodies of the two titans bionis and mechonis

Yeah Kyojin means big human. Which is why Attack on Titan in Japanese is Shingeki no Kyojin. I tried checking the Xenogears project name, it was "project Noah" dang they're all connected, whatever this Legacy is, I'm excited for it.

What We do know is that Monolithsoft is dedicated Nintendo 2nd party and have been so fiercly loyal allowing them to focus and create iconic projects such as of course XC X. This is the new era, and if I'm honest it _already_ looks to blow even that Wii U title away. Just from that one image, the level of detailing in the buildingwork and sculpture is already well beyond anything on the Switch! And the blend of 'Arcane ancient' and futuristic Mech that Monolith are famous for! 🎉

I think the only thing I don't agree here is separating "the next big thing/XC4", and X. I say that because I think it is like X is the big thing that comes next for Xenoblade, there will not be a game called Xenoblade Chronicles 4, the next arc is X.

Bandai has given Monlith and Nintendo some permissions to use the Xenosaga IP with the Xenoblade series so I don't think it's impossible for them to get permission to remake it. Though I think what would be best is if Xenosaga gets and HD remaster similar to what Baten Kaitos got from one of Bandai's remastering studios, and I think the Xenosaga teasing in Future Redeemed could be hints that characters and story elements from Xenosaga will be showing up in future Xenoblade games. Also I think this year would be a perfect time to reveal Xenosaga HD since Monolith is most likely not releasing a game this year, so my fingers are crossed it will show up in the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Granted my faith in Bandai is pretty low, but I have been noticing that they've been remastering and remaking games more frequently in recent years. So the chances of it happening are higher. I'm also hoping they remaster the first 4 .hack games while they're at it, but I think the odds of that happening anytime soon are definitely lower than Xenosaga even though the second set of .hack games did get remastered a good while ago.

I think the HD ports wouldn’t make sense since the first two games aged poorly and probably gonna play well with the controls. If by chance, a proper remake should be realistic other than the cost.

@@therealjaystone2344 Other than improving the character models for 1 and 2 I don't think the visuals have aged that poorly. The prerendered cutscenes, which is basically any scene with special effects in it in those games, could be AI upscaled as well. The only thing I'd honestly like them to do is some QoL stuff for those games maybe add in some more music to the first game if they can. A remake would be nice, but I think Bandai is very stingy and wouldn't approve that even if Nintendo paid for a good portion of it. So a remaster is probably the best we can hope for it. I don't think they are ignoring the success of the Xenoblade series so I can definitely see that happening. Though if it doesn't happen this year I think we'll be waiting a while for it to happen since I don't think they want to have that remaster compete with the Xenoblade games in the same year. And I think we're getting X DE next year since 2025 is its 10th anniversary and Xenoblade DE was release on its 10th anniversary.
