I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm about 2 years away from retirement and plan on cruising the Bahamas. I live on the East Coast of Florida and it's so close. I work 50-60 hours a week and can't imagine not working. I'm looking for a larger sailboat now. Your videos have been very helpful thanks for sharing!

@@marketzensperger5214 Awesome ! One of the main things I'm trying to do with these videos is give people ideas. And encouragement. If I can do it, just about anyone can ! 😉👍

I had new cutlass bearings put on a few months ago they put them in freezer overnight before they put them on, maybe you can rent the press to install them
@sailingonabudget3 күн бұрын
@doncritzer2798 It has been some serious hard work. I got the prop and coupler off and the shaft out. Still working on the cutless bearing

Pre-cooked bacon is hermetically sealed, shelf stable and and you don't have to fight with it. But you won't get the grease.
@sailingonabudget3 күн бұрын
I have tried and I can't say I like it that much. I will take some regular bacon though ! 😉👍

Happy for you getting close I know your leaving from Green Cove Springs I had a friend who was the very second customer of the mail service there and spoke very highly of them he even continued to use them after his boating days were over just a thought

@davelawrence6777 Yep, I've heard of that service. But since I'm leaving behind a wife and house I've got it covered. 😉👍

Do the folks at Green Cove yard allow you to do your own boat work? I've heard some bad stories..
@sailingonabudgetКүн бұрын
@EngineeredAngler They have a work yard and a storage yard. Anything bad you've heard is old news. This place is great. Good community of cruisers, plenty of help. I'm really liking it. 😉👍

@josemadriz5675 I can't think of any warnings, except make sure you have an appointment. They need at least two months notice, it's a busy place. 😉👍

Pricey stuff over there was fresh and canned. Dry goods go very far and aren't worth saving 10 bucks for the valuable space they take. Couldn't find one Baja fuel filter. Take a water tester for salt and TDS. Twice I paid for fresh and it was salt. Ruined my whole fresh water tank. Best burgers in Bimini, Smalls south bimin, and only $8i. Only place. Bimini cove pool bar had best pizza. Free pool if you buy too. 150 a week there wink wink.

i thought the passport without a visa is only good for 90 days visit?
@sailingonabudget2 күн бұрын
@JohnBraman413 Not sure I understand the question. But when you clear in you can get a year long permit for the boat and then yes, it's usually 90 days for individuals and then you have to get an extension for longer. Bur I have heard it's up to the agent so maybe you can get longer initially ? Very rare I guess.

I'm enjoying your videos, but your back ground music ... well, it's somewhat ... I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I'd prefer to hear you then strain to do so ... Don't want to be blunt! Anyway, keep on with the good stuff and enjoy your time. That's the name of the game after all
@elliottscott61793 күн бұрын
KZbin is very picky about it for copyright reasons so most folks use the "canned" ones youtube allows for free use.
@sailingonabudget3 күн бұрын
@hillyard12tondenia89 You won't hurt my feelings with constructive criticism. I try and make sure the background music is not intrusive but sometimes I'm a little off. I'll keep working on it. 😉👍

I have found the food to be abysimal in the Bahamas. It's all balloney and it's very expensive. Way better to have frozen and canned food from the US and to fish for the rest.
@magdakaniewskiКүн бұрын
Cheaper to buy and extra 12v fridge/freezer that you can run as freezer only. And get food state side. This way you have quality stuff and will last. I dont get how local Bahamians afford the food in their own stores
