I love how blackstone can defeat/keep out the warp, maybe intended to be an anti old-ones/Eldary weapon. However, faith can manifest in blackstone AOE. While souls might be the connection between the warp and the matirium, faith is willpower from the matirium manifest pre-warp. I suppose WAAGH is also unaffected by blackstone, though to my recollection, there hasn't been any WAAGH/blackstone interaction. I wouldn't be surprised if Blackstone is made from a material from the dimension past the Warp, where the Chaos gods dare not go.

I find blackstone in general to be one of the most fascinating things in the Warhammer 40k universe, the blackstone fortresses most of all. I wonder, did the Emperor know of their existence? And, if so, could that have been a secret objective of The Great Crusade (i.e. locate and take possession of the blackstone fortresses for the Imperium)?

we'd have to know if cadia was a part of the imperium when big e was alive. i'd imagine it was, and i'd imagine big e knows of them right now.

@@TheLostPrimarch Total domination. They could have been incorporated into the Emperor’s webway project. You mentioned in the video that each blackstone fortress has a webway gate at their center. Imagine an entire fleet of blackstone fortresses, each more powerful than even the Phalanx, under the control of the Imperium and each with a connection to the webway. Any race in possession of all of the blackstone fortresses would be nigh invincible.

@@TheLostPrimarch I wonder what would happen if legions of vat-grown blanks were machine-spirited and hooked up to the computers native to the Blackstone Fortresses? With enough numbers, the blanks' lack of souls would drain the energy from the intelligences native to the circuits, thus allowing the Emperor along with Malcador, and Magnus to use its weapons to cut the 4 warp gods into smaller pieces that are more and more malleable.

It never comes out and says it is Noctlith, but the Alpha Legion had an outpost on dwarf planet that was made of a black stone that could amplify or void the Warp. They even had a prison full of psykers on it, but one of AL pretended to be Omegon, and had one of the psykers fling the whole place into a sun.

So, I never actually got to play Battlefleet Gothic, which might seem odd, considering how much I complained about it not coming back when GW was hoth breathing new life into dead games, AND spinning a 40k story about weaponized Space Hulks, and causing epic space battles, but among the things in BFG u really did like, the Blackstone Fortresses were one of the high points of the list! There were a few times where I almost bought one, secondhand, to paint it, and as a big fan of FFG Rogue Trader, which actually involves ship combat almost as much as grunt battles, and exploring, they were a thing I kept wishing that I could involve in rhe Koronus Expanse, but I couldn't ever wedge them in, in a satisfying way. Lorewise, I think they are cool, and I just wish that Abaddon hadn't basically taken ALL of them, leaving the Imperium with none, and then destroyed several. I guess I am also a fan of what is, basically, weapons-grade space stations. 😊 I'm still more inclined to think that the Eldar made them, more than the Necrons, but I suppose I'm not against some of both teaming up to drop a more dangerous threat. It's not so weird that "modern" Eldar don't find much use for Blackstone; they need to limit how excessive their warp shenanigans are, these days, and the DEldar do even more, despite hiding in what is effectively, another dimension, but I'd laugh if Vect was hiding a Talisman of Vaul somewhere in his city. Of course, five minutes after we'd learn that, I suspect that both Trazyn AND the Blood Ravens, would attack, to trycand steal it! The Blood Ravens would mostly die, and the survivors get caught, so they don't need another video game, while Trazyn would successfully slink off with the station, and add it to his collection. Maybe we'd even find out that he's a big DC comics fan, and figured out Brainiac's miniaturization tech, so he can hang it from a ceiling, and not have it orbiting his planet.😊 The Necron plan, at present, does confuse me, though. It took me some time to grow to like the Newcrons. When they were first introduced, back in the early 2000s, I personally found the Oldcrons refreshing. They weren't tripping over themselves for Saturday morning cartoon villainy, nor needing to seem "decent", despite needing to justify galactic war crimes. You didn't negotiate with them, and they were both fearl,and inexorable. Special characters were mostly worthless, with many costing too much for their inferior gear, for their "better" abilities, when it was better to pay less points for the strongest weapons, and upgrades that did iconic stuff. Oldcrons didn't have that problem,and Necron Lords were great! Then they became Tomb Kings in SPACE!!!!!, and I was pissed. Now they had goals, but also worries, and infighting. They could be scared, bribed, or just appealed to. They possessed super-powered, immortal, cybernetic bodies...and wanted to return to fleshy, mortal weaklings. Now, I get it; they've added in some bits to explain why, and I understand wanting to be able to feel again, and evolve, but I wish that there was a better faction within that wanted to keep being immortal killbots, able to survive, and repair, from almost anything, and even modify rheur amazing forms to better deal with threats. Every Necron who wants to replace a portion of their body with a skimmer, or an arm with a cannon, shouldn't HAVE to be contaminated with the Destroyer Plague; this IS their evolution, and they've advanced beyond a simple, humanoid shape. They are also used to getting minions to do stuff for them, so one less hand is fine? Why did I babble? Because the Silent King, and majority of the Newcrons who CAN think, want to undo the bio-transferrence, and return to flesh, mortality, and oblivion. Fine, but then wouldn't their own noctilith network plan be terrible FOR THEM? They don't have souls, and flesh, right now, but that's the end goal, yet we, and they?, know how bad long-term exposure to the null energy is, for organics. They'd either have to build it, and then just turn it off, which would leave them vulnerable, or kill themselves with their salvation, because their own only defense is their soulless, necrodermis bodies. Why are they trying to both become mortal, AND kill off the other mortals they might co-opt, while severing their then mortal selves from a dimension I'm relatively certain all "living" things, like they want to be, NEED access to?

here's a disturbing thought: what if the Blackstone Fortresses WERE made by the Old Ones to destroy C'tan by amplifying their psychic gifts, but were lost in the War in Heaven? And the Silent King used them with Aeldari prisoners as catalysts to split the C'tan? Because the Necrons did not have the proper clearance codes and not having an Old One whose power the fortress can amplify, the best thing the weapons of the Fortresses could do was to split the C'tan instead of completely destroy them

Black Stone really is the key in containing the Warp, and make no mistake that the majority of sentience beings will do everything in their power to obtain it, but there appears to be a limit to how much of it exist in the Galaxy.

if the blackstone fortresses dont particularly care for humans, why would it care for a human made A.I.? and why would it allow abbadon to command it?

The one commanded by Abaddon, and also why he handed it over to Blackheart, was because they did some daemon shenanigans and that fortress was possessed, that is why Abaddon didn't want it, it was unpredictable. The ones that are awake actually are in way hostile towards all invading creatures.

When the cicatrix maledictum happened I theorised that Cawl would replicate Necron Pylons across multiple worlds in the galaxy and stich the warp wound closed with a huge row of new Cadia's

It goes to show the Chaos gods and the Warp spawn are not almighty nor invulnerable. They are impotent beings and though they may have a higher power level then most beings in the current 42nd Millennium even they have relative set limits of what they can do with their extent and amount of power of the psykic energy they have in their control. Even they don't rule the entire Warp dimension itself and have a limited amount of territory and wouldn't dare go lower into the Deeper parts of the Warp. There have even been points and times where they have been resisted by opposition which they couldn't simply snap away with a thought and had to actively engage themselves. Imagine how much resistance a Omega Plus Psyker the highest ranking psyker grade could give the four combined.
