I am using Notion to support my PhD research: a wiki to document what I've learnt, a relational database to track where they were learnt from in a citation format, and fighting academic procrastination with the Kanban features. Early days yet, but loving Notion and gladly paying for it.

I use notion for my entire life. For example: I've got crochet patterns, DnD character sheet and info, tarot spreads and a journal of readings, all of my notes from various note apps and hard copy notebooks *to be imported*, daily life management and basic lists/trackers, building a work database for a recording studio, following imported local events, and I'm hoping to upload photo shoot information for my photography business. Notion is pretty amazing and I can't wait to get everything added in so it can work for me. Patience is key!

While this is a wonderful start, Notion has so many Notion Ambassadors with KZbin channels which go into much more detail. Hundreds. I use Notion for my life. I have ADHD, and it helps me tremendously. With the tons of free Notion ideas and templates (not to be confused with what Scott was talking about) there will be something out there for you to work with. Not only the templates which come with the program. Try it. It has a bit of a learning curve (and just came out with a MAJOR update) that it can keep you learning more than you dreamed possible.

I'm using the free version of Notion instead of Evernote. I imported all of my content from Evernote to Notion. I actually like all of the numerous features that Notion has. It's going to take a while, but there should be a lot more features and capabilities with Notion going forward.

Sorry for the previous rant! I realized what I needed was info on database templates, that are created in the database, and I didn’t know it functioned differently from templates in general. This is not about creating templates. It’s about creating a template button.

@justtere2 жыл бұрын
It is done exactly the same way. I create template buttons all the time. I can do almost anything on my mobile that I can on my desktop. Just create what you want in your template button, click on create new template, rename it, pull what you want in your template into the space, and there you go.

So I did this. But I need a template I can use over and over again. I noticed when you dropped the block into the template creator it disappeared from the column on the left. How would I do it so I could use my template on other areas of my notion?
@MacAutomationTips5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. I was searching earlier on Google for how to create a template, and I didn't get any top results. Your video effectively explains how it's done. Great job. Also, to answer your question, I'm thinking about using Notions for keeping track of all the KZbin videos I create. I know I can sort by tags in YT, but there's some other categories I want to include. And I also will create a template planning sheet for new videos.

Hi, I really like Notion, but it's not replacing my Todoist or Evernote. I use it as my "vision board' and my own home website for good stuff to keep. My favorite is to store links with the /w function. Wish I could integrate Todoist daily tasks and have a more selective calendar.

I think this is a great tool for a home base as you describe. Thanks for sharing, Thomas.

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to 'mirror' To Do items in other To Do lists? For example, if I had three pages for projects, each with a To Do list, can I then decide to 'mirror' a couple from each list to a new Today list, so I can then just look at the today list? When I check off an item on Today, it auto checks it off also on the project list.
@susanmoon50214 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a way to achieve the mirroring that you want. What you describe is actually a classic use case for Notion's relational databases. // You start out by creating a master ToDo list containing items from all of the projects. Then you use "create linked database" function to create a linked copy of that Master ToDo list to each of your 3 project pages, as well as to your Today page. Then you use the "filter" function to only show those to-do items that you want for a particular page. This is where it gets a little complicated because in order to use the filter, you have to previously create separate Property columns in your Master ToDo list that enable you to effectively filter. For example, by having a project name column, and a "do today?" check box column. ... It sounds complicated but its really not so bad. Have fun with Notion.
