What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Dr. McCarty: One of the most common things I see as a podiatrist is plantar fasciitis and heel pain. And plantar fasciitis that is the inflammation of the plantar fascia. The fascia is a thick tendinous, tissue that goes from the heel bone all the way to the ball of the foot, and it's kind of the base of our foot, and lots of different activities, running even walking quickly. Some of my kids with growth played in issues or growing pains will get some pain in this plantar fascia and there's multiple ways to treat it. I try and a cortisone injection is helpful but it can be one of the plan B for plantar fasciitis, but stretching and anti inflammatories, ice, a really good orthotic can really kind of help alleviate the plantar fasciitis and help prevent the issue from returning.
