I've fixed my restless legs! Taking advice from two things (a) this video - I'm now taking a vitamin B complex with a high amount of Vitamin B1 (in the UK its called Viridian 'high one b-complex vitamin B1) - I take this at lunch or with evening meal. And (b) I've upped my magnesium citrate dose based on advice from woman at health food shop who'd written her dissertation on magnesium - she advised 400mg magnesium citrate with dinner and then 400mg before bed. She said this is the upper end of daily allowance and is safe - though if you're new to magnesium try starting on a lower dose. She explained that sugars and carbohydrates in our diet, especially in evening meal, cause lactic acid to be created in muscles which results in the dreaded twitching! The magnesium disperses that lactic acid before you go to bed so you can actually sleep! I've now had a week of good sleep for the first time in years! A last bit of advice - get a proper measuring teaspoon set - your normal household 'teaspoons' are often a different size - mine was about half the size of an actual teaspoon measure and was taking too little magnesium. My increased dose and the vitamin b1 seem to have fixed it. I still occasionally get a light bit of twitching earlier in the evening on the sofa whilst the magnesium is still doing its work, but only sometines and Its gone before bed and I can sleep! Deep joy! UPDATE - 1 year later - after more research and making a diary of what I've been doing and eating and how that relates to my RLS - I've found a better cure - I now Just take the magnesium (regular dosage, only more if I have a particularly bad night, sometimes none at all if I forget and have a light dinner and don't get any twitches) and I use my Therapulses every evening. I bought two Therapulse leg vibrators and these are the best solution by far. The vibrate your legs for 10 mins or so and get rid of the twitching and sensation. I do it in advance when watching TV in the evening. Just put them on and sit there, no effort required. If I forget and wake up with twitches I just use them for 10 mins and it fixes them. I'm so happy! Worth every penny! My RLS got REALLY bad a few months ago when my twins were born because I was getting very little sleep and was stressed. I was getting twitches in my stomach as well as legs, my whole body was twitching in my sleep. That's when I did more research and found these Therapulse vibrators from the UK and they stop all my RLS totally, even the bad times. I've also worked out that alcohol and carbohydrates and sugars make my RLS worse, it's noticeably worse when I have a big meal and alcohol, although I haven't stopped consuming these things as the Therapulse fixes it each time! I do not take the vitamin B anymore although my homeopath told me I was deficient when I had the twins so I took some then. Hope this helps!

Hi Tom, I'm happy you cured your RLS. Did you buy Dr. Berg's powder? How much potassium are you taking? I decided to purchase Dr. Berg's Potassium powder, and I have been taking 500mg of Magnesium, but nothing has helped my RLS. I have it all day and night. It's excruciating. Ive tried several medications, but I end up getting chest pain and have to stop. How long after you started the two doses of Magnesium did you notice improvement? And do you think powder magnesium is better than pill form?

@@marlenej7951 Does that work? I'm willing to do anything. There's got to be an answer. My chest is hurting again from taking the Lyrica. The RLS got really bad last month. It burning pain and itching and every medication my Doctor's have given me do the same exact thing. First they start to work. It was Gabapentin in the beginning. I was so happy when I got it. I was thinking I was going to be cured. Then by day 4, my heart starts racing, then chest pain, so I had to stop it. It's strange because I took Gabapentin back in 2017 for RLS just for 2 days and it didn't cause chest pain. I stopped because my RLS went into remission. So then my Doctor gave me another drug, and by the 3rd day chest pain with burning, so I had to stop. Then my pain management Doctor gave me Lyrica and by the 6th day my heart starts racing and then chest pain starts. I was thinking it might have something to do with me getting an Emgality ( migraine) injection, because after that I developed chest tightness and chest pain off and on. That takes 5 months to be completely out of one's system. If not I just don't understand why I can't take any medication without developing chest pain. Are you on a dairy free diet and how much potassium do you take?

This would have been wonderful to hear 8 years ago. I ended up getting RLS. My Doctor ended up giving me medication to help it which didnt work. We tried another one and that didnt work. Another one and that didnt work. My doctor said that where it was a newly diagnosed issue there wasnt to many medications for this issue and that he had one more medication to try. I tried it and that didnt work. I couldn't sleep at all. I was literally in tears over this situation. One of my buddies offered me a percocet. What a bad idea that was cz it worked but with my new found relief came an addiction. It was definitely a double edged sword. Around that time I stopped consuming sugar and carbs and started trying to stick to keto diet as much as possible. After I went through hell and back to kick the percocet addiction I was nervous of the RLS coming back but it didnt. I always wondered why it didnt come back. After this video I now know why it never came back. This is a great video Doc. I hope anyone that gets this can see this video and fix the problem naturally rather then going down the path I went down. This is by far one of my favorite videos you have made Doc. I also got really bad pain in my butt down into my hamstrings, the back of my thighs, to thr point that I could not sit down because of the pain. The doctor said it was probably coming from my back. Then came the issue with trying to sleep and my legs would not keep still. I talked with an older lady that is a coworker and she told me I had restless legs syndrome. I started talking the Hyland’s Naturals Restless leg PM tablets and they help me get to sleep. However, I am so glad to see your video to help me understand what the root cause is. I will definitely be increasing the B1 vitamin, that I probably only get from my multivitamin. Thanks for your video.

Ohhh, Dr. Berg! I hope and pray this will resolve my RLS (40 year duration) I know I lack dopamine production which starts manifesting in the evening and the RLS goes all night long. I, too, can't even rest in the afternoons. The RLS starts immediately and I have to get up and move. Needless to say, I've been searching for a cause and cure for a very long time.

Thank you so much Dr Berg! First off you have Ben literally the only person who has helped me with restless leg; and believe me I’ve seen my share of docs over this issue. For over a year potassium citrate stopped the issue completely. However, it’s back! I started iron, B1, of course multiple forms of magnesium and continued potassium citrate in relatively large quantities. The only thing that gives me relief is Ropineral, the side effects of which are hallucinations. This hasn’t happened but you can see why I’d rather tackle this issue more organically. Please help! Is there anything to add? PS . I do clean Keto and fast 40-hours, consecutively, a week. Additionally, I don’t start consuming food until at least 1pm. It works like a charm! My GI functions much better, almost no inflammation and generally happier/healthier. I have you to thank. Again, you’ve given me better quality information compared to the integrative practitioners I use. Thank you!!!

I ALMOST had the same situation as you - my restless leg syndrome CAME BACK!! It was so frustrating and annoying thinking WHY?? So, I came on here and one of the other comments REALLY was insightful as to what the possible problem could be for ME and may help you. How I eliminated the restless leg syndrome in the first place for ME was taking (1) Magnesium Malate 425mg daily. It was GONE! Yay! But it CAME BACK recently. It started to come back after Thanksgiving and then TONIGHT. I came on here, KZbin, and saw this comment about corn giving her restless leg syndrome. It started to make sense, I had lots of corn for Thanksgiving and the leftovers and tonight I had a bag of white cheddar POPCORN that I bought at the convenience store because I was hungry after food shopping. The restless leg syndrome didn't even wait till I went to bed - it started at 10:00pm (I go to bed late). So now I will totally go off of corn/popcorn/corn products - I wasn't eating that much anyway as corn gives me digestive problems most times. I hope this information helps YOU as it will definitely help me. 😊💖

@@tillygirl7450 wow! That is very interesting. This restless leg has a life of its own. Now it likes corn! UGG! I’ll check my diet and see how much of it I’m getting. It’s in a lot of foods. I started taking Gabapentin and it’s really working for now. Plus, it helped with a bunch of other things like: mood, body pain, frequent urination. It’s not cheap though, even with insurance.

I have RLS really bad and all the medications I've taken give me chest pain, so I have to stop them. I'm at my wits end. I've watched so many videos on RLS explainig that it has to do with Dopamine and articles talking about Iron not being able to get to the brain, and all the medications out there etc. How much potassium are you taking? Did you buy Dr. Berg's potassium? I watched this video and thought it would be easier to just buy his Potassium. I take the suggested dose, and I take Magnesium, but nothing works. Most people have it just at night. I have it all day and night. And no one in my family has it. It is such a curse.

I have severe refractive RLS. I’m an airline pilot by profession. I’ve taken everything under the guise of a centers of excellence. I’m permanently grounded because of this. To date nothing works except opiate based treatments. It’s in my arms, Legs and shoulders. I’ve several spinal cord injuries. We have run dna tests, I have a genetic link to rls.
@cannotbeshaken78899 ай бұрын
Do you think your RLS is caused from your spinal cord injuries? If so, I'm not sure I can help. But if not, then I can tell you what worked for me. I've had RLS ever since being pregnant with my twins 17 years ago. Just now I finally got it to end. Thanks to Dr. Berg. I take B-1 but in a different form called, "Benfotiamine". I went through a whole bottle and it didn't work. Then I noticed in another of his videos that you need to take around 4 times the recommended dose on the bottle. So I purchased another bottle and upped the dose and it worked. It was gradual. It gradually went away to the point of being completely gone now. It took about a month. I take three or four dropper fulls before going to bed at night. I think people can have RLS from all kinds of different things. So, perhaps it won't work for you, I don't know. But i think you should try it, if you haven't already. I hope this helps. 😊
