It’s a great series and refreshing take on a storyline of another world. His cluelessness sometimes seems on purpose to remain a background character or keep the viewers engaged. Sometimes reminds me of that old radio series The Shadow. I have been ready for season 2 since s1 ep5.

This is crucial for the upcoming arcs for Claire realising her specialty, Bloodqueen bowing to Cid in the end ( we will definitely see her again later). Connecting Cid to Yukimi. These were all pretty important and also most importantly a connection between Vampires and Diablo's cursed bloodline (possession) as we see Aurora using the blood magic in this recent episode. So its more like a prelude for whats to come.

He was already as strong as (if not stronger than) his elder sister in magic the moment he was born. He retained his muscle memory from his previous life and was able to continue off where he basically left of with his physical regime (albeit having to accommodate for being an infant again, but made use of that time to perfect his ability to wield magic). A lot of everything else is sheer dumb luck based on what superficial knowledge he was able to recall from his past life such as perfecting the slime body suit and splitting the atom using magic.
