Very good demonstration. Your comment about this amount costing $130 is why I don’t work in precious metal clay. It’s just too expensive for me

As a person who has taken courses in manufacturing technology and materials I can tell you that your visualization of the process of sintering is great, it pretty much looks like this under a microscope, the only difference being that the outer layers of the grains can melt and merge with each other which these pieces of clay didn't really do in the video. I just found your page and I actually didn't know that silver clay was a thing until now, this is so cool and your jewelry pieces are so pretty!❤

This is awesome to hear. And yes exactly, the particle surface melting and merging is where the connections really happen, so this is only close-ish. Thank you for commenting!

depending on the brand, the silver particles are around 2-3 microns in size. sterling silver or fine silver depending on the clay is ground down into a very fine powder, then mixed with an organic binder that doesn't leave any soot or smoke when it burns off, leaving you with just the silver once it's fired

Thank you for the explanation. The first video of yours I had never seen this material, and it left me with so many questions. Thankfully, after scrolling on, you answered the largest mystery for me. That is very expensive, but right now silver and gold are up very high. Does the price reflect the current price of silver, or is it more expensive as a premixed material 🤔.

I just bought some silver clay, inspired by your video. Would the strength be okay for keychains? I also work with resin and find that jewelry stays pretty nice, but the keychains get all banged up. I was hoping I could add sturdier pieces with silver clay, but after seeing this, I'm not so sure.
@BlueDotJewelry4 ай бұрын
It's about the same. Sterling silver will be stronger, but fine silver will get banged up over time with use as a keychain. I would make it as thick as you are willing to, and make sure the area around the ring hole isn't too thin (this is important) and it will last a long time, scratched up or not

@countermelody1674 ай бұрын
