You're welcome and thank you for sharing. I'm going to try and replicate the icon that you're mentioning later. But here are some common colors on the dashboard that I've learned from a BMW trained mechanic: Red is indicating an issue that required immediate attention. Orange is indicating a less urgent issue, for example an oil service or maintenance required. Colors such as "blue" and green symbols are providing you with information such as lights and indicators. In your case it is an indicators of the current driving mode. Flashing warning lights is informing you of an urgent issue.

Thank you. Please push (turn on or off ) the SYNC button. It will allow you to control both sides at the same time. As far as the benefits of using A or M, everyone has his or her own preferences. But, I like to keep mine on A because sensor technology and the filter itself in a BMW is quite good. It will filter out any pollutants before outside air gets to your cabin. Thus you don't have to breathe that the bad stuff. In addition, you will always get fresh air from outside because your cabin air can get polluted as well. One may see this as one of the advantages of keeping it on A. Other may not.. Cheers~

I know I'm a little late to the party, but just an FYI for future readers, some BMWs do not have the ability to sync the two sides (no sync button). My 228i doesn't.

The M button will often allow for quicker initial heating of the car in extreme cold weather. For example, the heater will be heating recirculated already partially heated air, instead of constantly trying to heat new cold outside air.

Just last night I was driving my 535i usually when I want to turn the ac up I normally press the “ max a/c “ button for some reason when I pressed it didn’t turn on the way it should I had to press the actual fan button on both sides to turn it up. You won't notice any different in fuel consumption when in use because it doesn't have a big motor driving the fan. But the main benefit is that you will breathe much easier when you use it. It will filter out most of the nasty and pollutants from the outside.

Iḿ having issues with parking brake malfunction. I had the back brakes fixed, reset it. Then the parking brake malfunction light came on. How do you fix it or reset it? Its for a 2017 BMW X3

I no longer have my X3 but got this tip from a mechanic friend The easiest way to reset the brake light on a BMW X3 is to: 1. Turn the ignition to the on position but do NOT start the engine 2. Open the driver’s side door and wait 30 seconds 3. Turn the ignition to the off position and wait another 30 seconds 4. Start the car Thanks

Not really. It doesn't work that way. It will only filter the outside air "inflow". It doesn't filter or "force out" the inside air

There are a couple of reason for that so it will be tough to know the exact cause without getting the diagnostic code. I had a talked with a buddy who is a mechanic for Mercedes for a long time. He said the obvious reason could the electrical component that is responsible to set that mode back and forth is faulty now

This is so unintuitive - 99% of cars I’ve driven have two option recirculate inner air or outside - this is all counterintuitive - intuitive would be, unfortunately - 3 settings.. But how does the automatic setting determine how to circulate, based on air quality or air temp?

What year and model do you have? A mechanic who is working at BMW told me that it may have a sensor where it will detect the quality of air in your car and switch it. I would read up on a manual too

That’s just whether or not you want both left and right to have one temperature. When synch is off, you can had different temperatures on both sides.

It depends on what temperature you have set inside your car. Once the temperature is set and the system is on the auto setting, the car’s air conditioning automatically adjusts between heating and cooling to maintain the set temperature in the car.
