I actually own this TREK and the new Propel SL0, the Giant is nearly 1kg lighter and the ride quality with the Cadex wheels is something to be believed, it is a slight bit more of an all rounder and not quite as quick as the Trek once you get it up to speed. The TREK has the nicer cockpit regardless of what he says but a new bar on the Giant resolves that. You can't beat the value of the Giant, here in OZ it's 1K more than the Trek with full DA vs Ultergra - mind you, there's no difference in shifting etc or brake performance. I love the Giant but if I'm out on the flats the Trek is addictive, it's got updated RSL51 wheels and once it's wound up, is very quick and easier to hold at speed.

Hi, could you elaborate more on what you mean by "a new bar" for the Giant Propel? Do you mean bar shape and width, or the flared drops? I'm considering the bike, so your feedback would be a great help. Thanks!

I was on the market for an aero frame and went through these and other propositions. Incredible value from Giant but I dont rate it as an aero bike but they sell complete bikes with imediate stock. Trek asks an absurd price for its frameset. Really liked the Ribble but for europe residents the cost is discouraging. This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

You can’t just go buy a Ribble in the USA. You would have to import one from the UK. If it’s an extreme generalization to say nobody is going to do that, so be it. That’s why he did a £ to $ conversion, as opposed to the Trek that costs nine thousand some dollars, but ten thousand some pounds, when those are not equal prices, yet that is the retail price on each country. Merida and Lapierre are two other brands you can’t buy in the USA.

Why not compare the 10k propel to the trek. Propel easily wins. Both still better than the ribble
@adossantos69751 Жыл бұрын
Trek is outrageously overpriced. Its a subpar frame compared with the likes of Giant or Ribble. I was lucky to own bikes from all those 3 brands but not so lucky to own a Trek. Their carbon layup is frail and prone to cracking. And God forbid your Trek frame don’t crack accidentally as they don’t offer a crash replacement program. I have a brand new trek pro caliber sat in my living room with a crack on the down tube. it was an unfortunate outing. First ride off road, first small stone frung and hit my downtube, voala, crack!!! Trek doesn’t want to know about it, just blamed the little stone for the unfortunate crack. Im currently saving money to have it repaired by carbon bike repair, wich by the way was on point. Do your self a favour and do your research before committing buying a carbon bike. Their advertising is not what it seems, its only a way to fish customers with false promesses. To be honest the best bike I have is a Dawes Audax Winter Sport steel bike. I have had it for 11 years, its been through hell, and the frame still as good as new. I have fallen for this fad, I have spend a lot money on unnecessary latest technology junk, disc brakes and all. If I could go back im time I would not have made such mistakes knowing what I know now. Long live the Steel frames, rim brakes and tubular wheels and tires. Those where good days!!!

Firstly the Giant isn't an out and out aero bike like the other two, it's a lightweight and fairly aero bike the other "all-rounder" bikes on the market, like the Tarmac SL7. Secondly, why isn't the Trek "reclining" seatpost not discussed? It's not a secret that there are failures in the public domain to see and read about. Can you really put a bike with such a potentially catastrophic failure built in up for discussion in the video?

@@bikeradar Ok! By the way, here in Switzerland, my observation is that about 95% of amateurs do not have an aero body position. I showed up at the local group ride with the Worx WX-R 33cm bars you tested, and they thought I was totally nuts. Maybe it's that there are so many climbs here, but probably also due to what you state. I believe that aero bikes are a waste if you can't get your body aero, and your observation leads me to conclude that aero bikes are mostly useless for the large majority of amateurs.
