I volunteered at a Mosque. They had a gym/multipurpose hall. We had roll out carpets for prayer. The Dysons were super expensive and sucked on those carpets. It would get full very often and get clogged often. We used a Seebo corded vacuum and it was great. Light duty is all the Dyson is good for.

We have the cleanmax zoom commercial vac. It doesn't have a detachable hose to get into small areas, and it takes vac bags. But the fact that it's cordless makes my job so much easier!

I used a Tennant V-LWU-13B before, it’s very reliable and does great at vacuuming rugs in elementary school classrooms and entranceway rugs. One of the best vacuums I’ve ever used. You can get them from Romaine Companies in Hopkinsville, KY.

I bought one of those cordless Sanitairs and love it! When the maintenance guys do work and make a mess, they actually clean up after themselves. We have tried to get the district to purchase some, but no luck yet.

For me when it comes to vacuums, I mainly prefer my ProTeam upright & my ProTeam backpack, at my actual workplace I use a Clarke upright( mainly one I got for them lol), but I have used a RYOBI cordless stick vacuum before to help a friend with renovating this house & I loved that thing, unfortunately I couldn’t use it much because the battery was low & the charger wasn’t there
@mrjeffthecustodianАй бұрын
Never heard of ProTeam. Will look that up.

@ they invented the backpack vacuums, but also have uprights & newer cordless vacuums, they’re pretty popular in the cleaning industry

Dyson V15 detect is the best investment I made to make my job at work easier. the auto mode makes the battery last all day, I even have the carpeted library in my section, but it does have a removable battery if you needed another. If u want to upgrade it fully you can get the XL motorhead for a bigger cleaning path. the only cons besides price that I found is the wheels they use are not industrial grade and break easy if you drop it on floor with out care i remedied this by putting small Teflon sliders with double sided tape after the back wheels came off, with the low pile carpets it works just as good if not better. The newer models don't have triggers which i don't feel is an advantage in this field. Although it was pricey id buy it again if i had too with how much time and hassle it saved me looking for outlets.

Used a corded Sanitaire and it was the BEST vacuum ive ever used. Too bad a sub dumped a mop bucket then used the vacuum to "suck it up" cuz it wasnt "his vacuum"

In commercial accounts do it works well picking up salt after a snowstorm
@mrjeffthecustodian2 ай бұрын
We don’t have snow but every few years here we’re I am at. We do have sand. So It does pick up sand well. So I would think it would salt as well.

@mrjeffthecustodian okay thank you I'm going to order a few and give it a shot

@dee1716 I spoke to the guy who sells us our vacs and other products and he said if possible use something else for entrance rugs when you have salt. It is horrible on our vacs, causes moisture once it's in our vac bags and eats away at everything inside so now I use my oldest corded vac on them and I've saved my cordless from needing to be serviced! It doesn't help that they use pounds and pounds of salt at the doors lol

Do u have any big grade corded units like original sanitares or any corded commercial vacuum in general?

Not anymore

Back Vacs are a pain that I’m glad I don’t have to use anymore. They dig into my shoulders and hurt like hell. I don’t know if you talk about them in this video but yeah those vacuums are the worst in my opinion.
@mrjeffthecustodian4 ай бұрын
I don’t care for them. They kill my back and shoulders. Also I want something I can grab quick and go.

That vaccum and those like it would be a complete joke in my school. Have 26 large classrooms and 4 offices every night. About 3 hours of work. The corded backpack is the only one that can do a good job.
@worldofthought83524 ай бұрын
I must admit I don’t see the appeal in cordless vacuums, we use one in a mental health setting (makita brand) and the suction is poor. In practice we should use them over a large area but they are make it a chore in picking things up that it’s easier to sweep everything to a rug and then hoover it. If given the option I go for a cord based vaccum to save any trip in replacing the battery.
@hotnoodletruck87964 ай бұрын
@@worldofthought8352 Dyson v12 and up have better suction then any corded vacuum I've ever used and the battery's last forever on auto mode. You cant beat the freedom of a cordless vacuum on large carpeted areas being able to move around tables with out getting wrapped or tripped up is a game changer. Think you'd change your mind if u tried one there Gary.

Jeff I this is going to sound stupid but I just had a custodian quit on me because I would not allow him to use a leaf blower on low speed to blow out the classrooms in a elementary school . I told him if he could name one school or school system that allows a custodian to use blowers in a classroom I would let him do it . Well he’s no longer with us lol . Do you use vaccumms in the classrooms to vacuum tile floors?
@crentz4 ай бұрын
As long as the hallway is clear and it is an electric blower then go for it.
@nabilblack4 ай бұрын
Shouldnt use a leaf blower in a closed area. Blowing the dust around isnt healthy.
@garyday66814 ай бұрын
Does not sound stupid. Sounds like you are not open to new ideas. Did you make any other sugestions to the custodian like sizing up the rooms to be cleaned and help by showing hard to clean areas where a leaf blower would not be needed? Did show this custodian other available tools like attachments to the vaccum? Our job is too difficult for bs from coworkers who do nothing but make our jobs harder and offer no solutions to real world problems. There you are welcome. Use it on the new custodian you have to hire now along with a little respect for them.
@Cpoulin19744 ай бұрын
@@garyday6681 hold up let’s get something strait off the top my father was a custodian for 25 years and never used a leaf blower to clean his floors. He also did twice the work then most custodians do now days and didn’t quit when the boss said no to something he suggested. He used a dust mop,broom and dust pan and did his work just fine. I never said I was not open to new ideas but I am not open to ideas that are going to potentially blow dust particles in the air for kids to walk into the next morning and have allergies start up And get sick .I also found out while the custodian was using the leaf blower to be more”efficient” and get things done faster he was going home early every night and not doing other things that could have been done. I do not try to make my custodians jobs more difficult and I don’t say no to anything I wouldn’t do or try my self first - I personally went into a classroom and used the leaf blower and tried his way and then had to spend 20 mins dusting the room because of all the dust it blew all over the room . The only problem in this guys world was he was lazy not that I didn’t allow for better solutions. This was why I was asking JEFF if he ever used a blower and where one might be acceptable to use in a building. So before you run your mouth saying I am making things harder for my custodians you should know your facts or get the whole story.

A gas blower is an absolute no go for indoor use . However, a 3 speed battery leaf blower is an excellent tool to help clean inside..
