I've been lifting for 25 years and following Lee the entire time. Same height makes his exercises almost always fit me perfectly as well. I have yet to find an old-fashioned lying leg extension but I do put the seat all the way back to get as close as I can to the same motion and it works... it hurts like hell he's right but it works.

Thanks Lee. By all logic, the way Platz trained legs with maximum stretch as in sissy squats one would think his knees would’ve exploded long ago yet he developed the best legs ever. Or Arnold doing db chest flys with a deep stretch or Gironda style dip and never tore pecs but developed the best pecs ever

You Pros know the tricks of the trade! Awesome video. What I'm curious to know from your knowledge Lee, is what you think of an exercise such as the Bulgarian Split Squat? Do you think it's an effective mass builder? I've been doing this exercise for a few years and mainly use it for conditioning. I'm an avid Mountain Biker and notice that I have more power on climbs and think it's the Bulgarians that made the difference. I'm older, in my 50s, and back in the day I primarily did Squats/leg press/Hacks and none of these exercises made a difference as the Bulgarians did with my riding. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on this exercise. Thanks!

Not sure where to post a question but here goes. I’m the older generation and always do the 6 to 8 reps, why is everyone now saying 12 to 15 or even more? Is 6 to 8 not the way to go anymore? What’s your thoughts Lee?
@daniellovesosrs Жыл бұрын
Common knowledge says reps for size weight for strength. Most old school and new school body builders train for reps above 10
@silatguy Жыл бұрын
I think both are great. I tend to do about 12-20 for accessories but that's just personal preference. I also feel like there would be no point for stronger people to do 300lb leg extensions for 6-8 or some other isolation exercises it seems a little silly
@WAYNEMODELBUILDER Жыл бұрын
@@silatguy the only reason I asked was years ago ( I’m old now 🤣) but still occasionally train… I only ever did 6 to 8 reps for years and years and years. Since switching over to all the new KZbin so called professionals I fabled with the 10 plus reps. In all honesty I definitely had my results in the 6 to 8 reps max . Now I’m 52 years old and trained since I was 18, as I say only as a hobby nothing professional and took the odd few years off in between due to family ect but even so I like to think I know a bit about training and I’m convinced 6 to 8 is best which is why I can’t understand all this KZbin stuff these days about higher reps but hey what do I know? Lol hence I thought I’d ask as I thought at one stage Lee only ever did 6 to 8 to build his size too? Cheers for the replies 👍
@spec24 Жыл бұрын
The rep range for muscular growth is actually about 6-30. That's a huge range. The optimum number, in actuality, is what YOU like to do. Because if you're not into your set, or each rep, you're not going to get any growth. I find that if I train my legs above 10 reps per set I get next to no growth. Me legs were at their largest doing sets of 6. And that generally involved starting with a light weight, for 6 reps, and then increasing the weight each set but doing no more than 6 reps each set. Do 5-6 total sets. But that was me. Other people benefit greatly from doing lots of reps.
@WAYNEMODELBUILDER Жыл бұрын
@@spec24 actually i totally agree, just do the rep range uou personally enjoy and see results from, personally I don’t like anything above 10 reps I think for me 8 is my sweet spot. All this 12+ just doesn’t do it for me
