The video is useful. But I want to add two things: first, and I know, most people know this, but just the same, when you cook with oil, do not put any food in the oil UNTIL it reaches the temperature you want. If you put it in the oil FIRST, then heat up, it will absorb a LOT more of the oil. Put it to maximum heat point, then with tongs, place gently (so as to not splash) into the oil. Second, related to first. He mentioned how may calories are added using oil vs baking. That's true, but is is greatly reduced if you do what I said, put the food in only after maximum heat is obtains and second, using a thin crust, such as Panco, holds a lot less oil than one of the very thick, almost like pancake batter. If you ever have had fish and chips, you know it can vary from very light, to very heavy. The good news? The lighter ones taste much better AND have far less calories.

1. Coconut oil: Many grades of coconut oil is available in the market. The commercial grade is Refined, Bleached and Deodorized (RBD) coconut oil. Pure coconut oil is used extensively as a medium for cooking and many packaged foods and its unique property is an advantage in cosmetic and soap industry. 2. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO): It is the purest form of coconut oil, has a fresh coconut aroma and longer shelf life because of its low free fatty acid content (FFA). Some grades as extra virgin coconut oil are also marketed 3. Liquid Coconut Oil (LCO) and MCT oil: It is a new product marketed as liquid coconut oil for cooking and baking. It stays as liquid even under refrigeration. It is also referred as fractionated coconut oil or MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) in which mostly some saturated acid components are removed including Lauric acid. LCO is marketed for skin care applications also. The price differentiation is always there. I believe that coconut oil is supposed to be one of the healthiest cooking medium than many others marketed.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 KJV Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: Exodus 20:8-9 KJV Saturday is the day of the Lord The claim that Christ by his death abolished his Father’s law, is without foundation. Had it been possible for the law to be changed or set aside, then Christ need not have died to save man from the penalty of sin. The death of Christ, so far from abolishing the law, proves that it is immutable. The Son of God came to “magnify the law, and make it honorable.” [Isaiah 42:21.] He said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law;” “till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in nowise pass from the law.” [Matthew 5:17, 18.] And concerning himself he declares, “I delight to do thy will, O my God; yea, thy law is within my heart.” [Psalm 40:8.] GC88 466.3 Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

I feel as though contradictory/unsubstantiated information has been included in this video. Initially you made the statement that an ideal smoke point should be above 230 degrees celsius. However, the study done on virgin coconut oil was only performed at 180 degrees celsius. I do not deep fry very often, if ever, but i am pretty sure that the average person at home would be exposing the oil to temperatures much higher than this. Though refined coconut oil may have a higher smoke point, all the perceived "benefits" of coconut oil are actually associated with virgin coconut oil, which should not be exposed to such high temperatures.

I hate when people say something "shouldn't be in your diet because of calories". If I stay at a healthy weight I NEED those calories to burn since I have a physcially demanding job! Calories are looked at as evil for some reason. It's like air or water, you need the amount you need. I used to put an entire stick of butter in 6 servings of instant mashed potatoes, that's 800 calories in butter alone. :)

canola oil has very inflammatory properties....avoid it at all costs
@mrdeadsea77727 жыл бұрын
Canola oil is one of the best for deep frying, is has both Omega 6 and plant based Omega 3 (won't replace fish in the diet). It is a hydrogenated oil though which isnt good for health (what the research says).. This guy didn't mention Rice Bran oil or Macadamia Nut oil or Peanut Oil, all good for frying. Macadamia Nut oil isn't cost effective though so best used for shallow frying and on salads. Peanut, Rice bran and Dripping are probably best to use, again Peanut is expensive, so maybe don't use it where a lot of oil is needed. Dripping is very fattening, but tastes amazing.. would use it on special occasions. Coconut Oil is very healthy, but very expensive so not best for deep frying. It also imparts a flavour.. that you would only want on very specific fried foods. Avacado Oil and Olive Oil are best used on salads or for shallow frying very specific foods. For deep frying (out of the ones mentioned ... Rice Bran, Dripping, Lard/Tallow and Canola are the winners. Canola fries well.... many aren't mentioned here. Would keep Rice Bran (deep frying/shallow frying), Macadamia (shallow frying), Olive oils (shallow frying/salads) in the pantry and get drippings or lards/tallows (roasting/deep frying) on occasion.

What about Grapeseed oil. And peanut oil. Wondering
@jairajsanand18347 жыл бұрын
Grapeseed oil is a hoax a waste product of the wine industry that includes grapeskin flour. Only good part is most of it maybe cold pressed. Groundnut oil is a great oil to deep fry but its not the healthiest its healthier than any of the non-traditional oils(like corn, soy, canola, rape, cottonseed, rice bran, all of these are mostly hexane extracted and cottonseed contains high levels of pesticide and has a poison)
@arth82655 жыл бұрын
Grapeseed oil is the worst for frying because it's mainly composed from PUFA omega 6 fatty acids (about 70% of mass) which are highly sensitive to heat and rapidly oxydize. Peanut oil - the same problem. It's mainly PUFA omega 6 fatty acids which becames toxic after heat processing.

99.9% of people came here to find out if you can use canola or some other oil because they wanna fry for family/friends who might be allergic to peanut oil (the most common deep frying oil for turkey deep fryers). yes you can use any kind of oil, it won't change the texture of the food. taste maybe.. but ever so slight.. each oil may take more/less heat to get to a specific temperature, use your thermometers folks. peanut oil is less expensive, olive is the most expensive. find the happy medium between.
