Couldn't agree more. I own a 2007 WRX TR Hawkeye in WR Blue Pearl. I am the original owner and have only 75k miles on it. It's reliable, gets decent mileage and has always been a blast to drive. It's the first brand new car I ever owned. It's never been flashed and I have only changed the Radio (pioneer 8" touchscreen), speakers (Polk DBs), shifter (OEM short shifter with Momo handle), pedals (STi pedals), and the tires (Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3s) which were a huge upgrade from stock. I recently thought about getting rid of it while it is still worth something. I looked into an Audi S4 and an Audi A7. No offense to the new WRXs, but I wasn't as much a fan of the way they look, so I didn't consider getting a new one, but I wanted something with the same formula. I bought my WRX when I was 25 and am now 38. I had thought I had outgrown who I was when I bought it. But I couldn't bring myself to selling it or trading it in. I'm afraid someone would ruin it by messing with it's purity. I smile everytime I walk out the door towards it. It's been good to me. I recently had it painted by a reputable shop that did a phenomenal job making it look new again. Over the 13 years I have owned it, the hood scoop had faded and the clear coat was almost gone on the roof. I will eventually get another car, but my WRX will be my everyday driver for the foreseeable future.

You sound like a good owner, i love to see and hear about people who look after their cars. I recently rebuilt an engine from an 06 sti with similar ownership circumstances as yours, guy is the original owner bought it in his late 20's and is now in his late 30's or early 40's i think, but still has the car. Sadly, we car hasn't been cared for properly since the person isn't mechanically inclined.

@@BP-fx3qc I went to Classic Coachworks in West Chester, PA. They had a good rep and good online reviews. They are also McLaren certified and one of the few shops that McLaren takes their cars to for bodywork and paint in my area. They were super nice and talked me through the process, although I had already done plenty of research to make sure I didn't get hosed. Definitely research the brand of paint a shop uses before you go anywhere. Some shops use crap paint to save money on their end, but charge premium prices.

@@stevejohnson2270 thanks for the response, i was considering j&b body works in mount vernon ny. they have a good rep in the tri-state area and I know people who got paint work from them and are happy with the job , but now that you gave me a good word for that one, i have more options to look at. I have tried multiple shops here in nj that are supposed to be "top notch" and have had nothing but bad experiences so at this point i am willing to go out of state like ny or pa no big deal.

Hi Rob, I could relate to your idea at the end. I bought my hawkeye in December 2019. I bought it with a broken engine and swap with a new engine. Barely 300km, there was a sound and I had to overhaul the engine. It cost me a lot in just one month. After it was done, it makes me smile every time I drive it.

I love my 02 WRX Bugeye Wagon with factory leather.... just rebuilt her to factory OEM spec. As she made it 170K no problems, all stock powertrain, until the radiator drain petcock failed and she cooked headed down the freeway. So she just got a heart reconstruction!!!

Liberty Prime, replace the front seats if you can. Those head rests are not that great. The stock 6 disc CD player doesn't skip. If you left that in or even listen to CD's. I think you can do mp3 format CD's X 6 is kind of like mp3 player.

22B just because they are so rare and 2 door coupe omg love that so much. have a 06 wagon with full exhaust,cobb , intake etc and love it daily it with 165k and still running strong, but im a fan of all wrx's of all years,even legacys and foresters, like they are just plain great to drive daily or extreme and the parts interchangability lol they're like legos

I love my 2002 bugeye wagon. Stage 2+ and it is perfectly reliable everything still works and it is FAST. If I get all my shifts timed right it will go from 0 to 60 in about 4.5 seconds. I know there are faster cars out there for sure, but it is 20 years old so I would say it's still a fast car. It's faster than my buddies stage 1 OTS tuned 2011. The EJ205 is a great engine if you take care of it. I know mine is not stock but it isn't crazy modified either.

I can't believe you failed to mention the 98-'01 Impreza 2.5RS. Those models played an important role in getting Americans to start to notice Subaru in a new way. The 2.5RS was the first Subaru that car enthusiasts in America embraced. The 2.5RS was and icon to many back then that loved Rally racing.
