2008-2014 generation which I own(2013), had a facelift in 2011 and powerbump to 265bhp in Australia and was also standard widebodied not sure about the States, due to it's slow rep and 'ugly' looks, which totally fixed both issues in my opinion. This gen has its own cult following in Australia even more so than the Hawkeye..

Yeah the power upgrade was in 2009. 2007-2008 narrow bodies have 225hp and 2009-2010 narrow bodies have 265hp. They carried the same engine over to the wide body but obviously changed the body a bit. But I think the power upgrade in narrow bodies was only in Ausrtalia and maybe euro countries.

When I was at an autocross one time, at the latter part of the day, they started doing "Fun Runs" and someone was kind enough to let me drive their 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. You know, the bug eye. I was disappointed with the turbo lag. I had never driven a car with a turbo before, so it took me a few turns to figure out how to keep it high enough in the power band. The next part was learning how the car likes to be handled with turns. I figured that out quite quickly. It was very easy to get it to rotate. Fast into the turn, quick brake and turn the wheel, get back on the gas and the AWD pulls it out of the corner. In other words, it was tossable. It was an absolute blast. Unfortunately, I wasn't financially able to get one because I had only had my then current car only a year. I would love to have an unmolested 2002-3 Bug-eye Impreza WRX. EventuaIly i bought a 2007 Impreza WRX I was happy with that car, and the engine power delivery was a big improvement over the 2002 model, but the handling was more toward understeer. I'd rather have the 2002 but only an unmodified version. I'm not going to waste my time looking for a unicorn. Now I drive a Mazda MX-5 (Miata).

I love 3rd gen Imprezas. I have an '11 Forester XT. With a few chassis and suspension mods, it's a fun wagon.

I have a 2018 Fozzy XT. I traded my 2010 non-turbo 2.5 for it. "More power". I'm never going back.

Forester is not a wagon.... That would be the Outback

I bought my 02 in WRB around four years ago. I’ve done a complete engine rebuild. It’s super clean for its age. I will still get a blob eye though. The 2005 is the best looking one IMHO. However I’d still like one of each gen.

I own a 2020 wrx, it’s how I learnt stick best car I’ve ever driven and easy to work on even though the engine is a learning curve for me. Just keep that oil changed for sure.

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’ve been looking for a second-gen Subaru WRX STI, and I found a bug-eye that I absolutely love. The separate round headlights are just perfect, and I’ve fallen for the design. But here’s the issue-I saw some pictures of the third-gen WRX STI with buttons on the center console, and after Googling, I found out they’re for DCCD (Driver Controlled Center Differential). DCCD lets you adjust the torque distribution, which would make it way easier to drift, something I’d love to have. The problem is, there’s no bug-eye Subaru with DCCD, and now I’m stuck. Do I choose the bug-eye for the design I love, or go for a hawk-eye with DCCD to make drifting easier, and you know having more buttons to press?

Hello, I'm certain from Roadandtrack.com as a reference that in 2009 they upgraded from the old 230hp they year before to 265. Is this correct? I have a post that asks this question most recently. Thanaks!

I agree with Brad.......2nd gen STI. Don't forget about the head gasket issues though. My sedan choices........1. C63 2. ISF 3. CTS-V 4. Latest turbo M3. They're auto for street/traffic and will crush it in acceleration.
