Age 67, menopause at 58. Been on HRT for about 1 year & use Combipatch. It's great for hot flashes & night sweats but I did start having periods again in May after several months on the patches. Had ultrasounds & hysteroscopy/D&C to rule out cancer or other problems. Doctor said there's no risk to having periods so I'm staying on the patches & just dealing with the inconvenience of periods after 9 years without. I get my HRT thru the VA so options are somewhat limited

I have a similar question to above. I’ve been on climara patch started with .035 with 100mg micronized progesterone had some bleeding and a fibroid. Never had a fibroid before but was also on IUD for many years for birth control. Had fibroid removed and went down to .025 patch and it’s been 8 months with no bleeding until recently and had two spotting events so my doc wants to do another ultrasound to see if fibroid is back. What are your thoughts on bleeding on HRT and does HRT cause fibroids? Thank you for taking the time to inform women. I appreciate what you do so much.

I am 39. I had a hysterectomy and oophorectomy at 36 so symptoms of menopause hit me hard this year. I am taking 2.5 mg of oral estradiol and 100mg of oral progesterone. Just upped this dosage because symptoms were getting really bad, I was having severe joint and body pain, hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety…all the things! I feel Normal since changing this dosage 🎉

I'm on an estradiol patch, oral progesterone and compounded T cream. I appreciate the effects and benefits of all but T is by and far the biggest positive impact on my sleep, muscle composition and sense of well being (I'm single and libido has nothing to do with my use). I really really really wish doctors would catch up on T for women.

I did my 1st hormone panel on Friday 10/18/24 at age 47 and I can’t wait to get the results. I “know” I need to do this last year at 46 but both my primary and GYN dismissed it and me.

As a senior who was a "victim" of the WHI scare, I believe eventually we will be able to use MRT but probably not in my lifetime. Thankful for local estradiol.

I'm 80, and was on on Premarin after a hysterectomy until the scare. I'm taking otc hormones, and getting ready to go with the rx.

@@julieellis6793 How were you able to get it with the rx at your age (our age)?
@julieellis679318 күн бұрын
I went to North American Menopausal Society and got a list of doctors in my area, including a compounding pharmacist. I started with her( closest). She had me do a saliva test and put me on otc biest, as well as an adrenal support and DHEA that they carry. I recently decided to go to one of the doctors on the list to make sure I'm getting the right balance of hormones. I have an appointment in January.

@@julieellis6793 I hope you let us know how that appt. with the MD goes and if you then get MRT prescription.

I wish US providers would talk more about vaginal progesterone. Micronized oral progesterone causes so many side effects, just like the estrogen: GERD, insulin resistance and other issues exclusive to it going through the digestive system. Other countries have vaginal options for progesterone delivery.

I have heard that many women use micronized progesterone vaginally

How does compounded Estrogen and progesterone fare in the spectrum? My doctor has prescribed creams for both
@mbigs1509Ай бұрын
I'm young(ish) 40 yo on estradiol patch and oral progesterone 14 days per month. I've asked repeatedly for T, but my doctor refuses. Backround: I knew something was wrong at 35, and after begging for 4 years, I saw someone else who finally checked my hormones and gave me an answer to my horrible symptoms. Also, unfortunately, found out too late for me to do anything about having children.

Do people with MTHFR mutations fare well with oral HRT?

I have 2 MTHFR gene mutations. I'm on oral progesterone and estradiol patch. It's been 4 weeks and each day I feel more and more like myself.

I have been taking duavee. I am unsure if this is a good choice.
@triciab2354Ай бұрын
Generally in the menopause world (Dr. Mary Claire Haver) she considers the estradiol patch or any estradiol (topical DIVIGEL)with a micronized progesterone to be safer than conjugated estrogen therapies with a progestin, which is what DUAVEE is.

Hi, I used the patch at .25 and progesterone daily for 5 months and was having all the monthly things periods, sleepy and cramping so I went off but am missing the things it did help with, sleep, energy, skin, night sweats. Any suggestions?

Patch, micronized progesterone, vaginal estrogen. I’d like some T . Haven’t asked my Dr. about it yet

I'm 54, started menopause less than 1 year ago. After using 1 pump of oestrogel + 100mg of micronized progesterone daily for 5 months, started having some bleeding similar to periods, once a month for a few days. It really feels like a period, because I also have cravings, bloating, sore breasts etc. But my doctor says it's not healthy and I might have uterus cancer in the future, so she wants me to stop HRT 😢 Has anyone here experienced the same? Please share, I really wouldn't like to stop it.

I use Combipatch, but want to switch to a transdermal estradiol patch with a transdermal progesterone (not progestin). Does the U.S. have any transdermal FDA approved progesterone products? It doesn't seem like we do. Combipatch is so limiting in terms of dosages & I would rather take a bioidentical progesterone transdermally (not orally) and not a synthetic progestin like the norethindrone acetate that is in the Combipatch.

Do you need testosterone if your blood work for it came back normal? I’m on the patch and progesterone and I feel great. ❤
@DebMcCabeАй бұрын
Testosterone dosing is more about symptoms rather than levels. So if your levels are not high and you are having symptoms, ask your doctor about supplementing.
