From Canada, stoked to see Blanche de Chambly as it's a classic. I called the Hoegaarden due to how clear it looked. It does the trick on a hot day, but it's usually too watery for me compared to others of the style. Would love to try the Allagash!

Dogfight head Nameste white is a very fine American brewed white. I bet it gives Allagash a run. It's very similar in flavor profile.

Unrelated to white ales but Nate, have you tried King Crispy Pilsner from Deschutes? I was inspired by your pilsner tasting video and did a pilsner tasting of my own with Pilsner Urquell, Paulaner, Bitburger, and Weihenstephaner pilsner. They were all absoutely amazing, but King Crispy was absolutely incredible. I'm curious to know your input on this beer. I am looking to brew a similar pilsner of my own!

Thanks for including the dates, even if they didn't really give an idea of age. I wonder how much of an effect temperature during storage has on white ales? As an IPA person, I've never noticed expiration dates that are a year or more from production.

Avery beers don't seem to be as easy to find these days, but I loved their White Rascal back in the day. And someone mentioned Dogfish Namaste, also a great one!

I still remember having my first Allagash White with an awesome dinner at Street & Co in Portland, ME. I do love Hoegaarden too, but always worried about age. As others have mentioned White Rascal, it was also good, but very flavorful if I remember correctly, too much so IMO. I also think wits are great for adjuncts (spice & herbs), and I never pass the opportunity to try them.

Avery White Rascal and Einstock White Ale come to mind. Both pretty solid beers. Never had AW, so not sure how they compare.

Just so you know, Ommegang Hennepin is a Saison vs. a Witbier. I presume you intended to state Ommegang Witte. I hope to be enjoying both of these beers in a few weeks while attending the Belgium Comes to Cooperstown event.

I have a short laundry list o questions. Have you reviewed Belgian Saisons, does Tree House brew a Saison and having been to local beweries I have yet to find one - is their a reason - hard to brew of just not a popular beer? Thank you Martin

Allagash is really good. The Unibroue does not look like that at all when fresh. Unfortunately, that would not be representative of what it should taste like. They offer cans now for the Wit, at least locally in QC. Let's do belgium tripple next.

I was shocked with the Unibroue reveal being the second beer, that beer is extremely hazy and white every time I've had it.

I go Alagash, then Hoegarten. Both awesome. Not a huge fan of St B, the only one of their brews I’m not in love with. Never found the Canadian one, but I really like their tripel.

Avery White Rascal would be a good witbier to throw in the mix. Locally Newburyport Plum Island Belgian White should be available. Rockport Brewing makes a wit that’s in distro too.

You have to find a way to get your hands on Celis White and compare it. Pierre Celis brought the Belgian white to America and allegedly it’s what Allagash is based on.

Celis White is very similar to Hoegaarden because before he came to Austin, Pierre Celis started the Hoegaarden brewery. He sold it to InBev after a fire and used the money to come to America and start over.

Personally, I’ve never had all 3 side by side by side, but individually, my taste memory has Allagash closer to Celis. I’m in Texas so I have access only to Celis and Hoegaarden unfortunately and have only had Allagash on a trip to New York.
