It’s been popular for a while, especially with interest rates being so low globally. But when things start to shift, like interest rates rising or currencies fluctuating, it can cause big disruptions in the market

Warren Buffet did it this way - took free japanese Money and invested in 4 japanese monopolies, when they were cheap and paying around 5% dividends....Itochu, Somutumu etc...However this trade is over and I would das best way ie to Take free money and invest in Alibaba or China ETF.

This is why you don't hire an investor to advise you if you are an average joe. You buy the market

Why would Japan authorize these loans?! I understand low interest rates for Japanese banks to avoid recessions. But keep the money in Japan. What do they get out of loaning hundreds of billions to American banks at zero interest?

Thanks a lot, Jimmy! Very clear explanations. I don't understand why these crashes tend to start from Japan. In 1987, similar drops happened in Nikkei and then it kept continuing downward trajectory. We also have lots of hedging in the market with the shorts and puts. All these ETFs with double or triple the returns of S&P500 show how leveraged we are in this market. I am fearful this slight bounce is just a bear market trap.
