Hey there. Im doing my bachelors in IT. I had a network + class now i have an a+ class. Im confused can you get A network + and ccna. Or do you prefer one over the other? Im not even in help desk yet. I want to do help desk and web development dont know what certs to get
@Itcareerquestions6 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with getting multiple certifications. If you want to do web development that is completely outside of help desk and networking. You might want to look at more programming based bootcamps or Microsoft certifications that specialize in programming.

Great plan! Good luck!
@12012channel6 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Security+ that topic actually came up in my CCNA 1 class.The professor teaches both and he usually tells people they are better of doing CCNA first then doing security+ because you will need that networking foundation before trying to get into security.What are your thoughts?
@bravo22876 жыл бұрын
I will take your word since it is coming from your professor teaching CCNA 1. I was only going to get the Security+ because one of my bar guests recommended it as it would stand out along with my A+.

I wouldn't just take my professor word on it.I am not saying it is wrong but other professionals and professors might have a different view or opinions as well.

Bravo228: Firsly, ProfessorMesser.com is where you want to go for CompTIA training if you weren't already aware of his training. His training covers the perfect amount of detail required to pass the exams i.e., just enough information without being overloaded. If you are new to IT like I was a year ago starting off as a help desk analyst the A+ will give you a lot of confidence with various different environments e.g., office, industrial, sales, etc. That being said, I am studying for my CCENT (part 1 of CCNA, basically), and it goes into a lot more detail, but more than that it has hands-on labs, which will allow you to sell yourself in an interview, and consequently learn quickly at your new networking job. If you aren't new to IT then you may want to consider going straight for the CCNA Routing and Switching since you already have your focus set on being a network engineer. I suspect being able to sell yourself in an interview will *generally* be more important than having your A+. I too have a fondness for wanting to learn security, but my friend who remotely manages networks for over 50 clients recommended to me that I get a firm foundation of networking with the CCNA Routing & Switching before beginning with security certifications. After getting the CCNA Routing & Switching he recommended I check out the new CCNA Cyber Ops.

I've currently have been studying for my network+, should I skip the network+ and go for my ccna?

Not necessarily. There are a lot of fundamentals you will miss by not going over the Network+ or the CCENT. I would definitely keep going on the NET+ path.

tony45x220, as an IT instructor for nearly four years, I have seen students get a foot in the door with just the ITIL Foundation certification. So, yes, those certs will be useful for getting your foot in the door. Remember that the certs on your resume helps you land the interview. It will be your positive attitude and your ability to communicate what you've learned that will get you the job. Good luck and I hope you have great success!

The average female CCNA makes more than the average male. That's interesting, why is that? Do men not work as much or go for this degree as much? I hope it's not what I think it is, I'm worried this might be due to gender discriminating and the push to force women into IT at the expense of men. I hope that is just a normal pay gap
