Hi Tanya! Are you new to the Magenta Otter Tribe? If so, welcome! And we definitely should chat about retirement plans... I had wanted to retire to a Cotswolds cottage for many many years, and then finally ended up buying a flat in nearby Cheltenham instead. I assume you mean Georgia the state with peaches... not the country that was a soviet republic ;-) We live in Texas when we are not in Gloucestershire, so I get the whole Southern thing! I'm not sure if I've been to Shipton Under Wychwood. It is not a place I feature in this series... but I promise to show a LOT of other places!! As you know, the Cotswolds has hundreds of lovely villages, towns and hamlets... despite being only 800 square miles! Looking forward to chatting with you more! Cheers XX Dara

@@ians3586 Yes, they're both yellow Cotswold stone. Most of the stone I collected was in the form of either 1/4 or 3/4 inch chippings for driveways. Occasionally large irregular lumps for building rockeries. Many years ago, I collected 3 squarish lumps of sandstone, averaging about 91/2 tons, from a disused quarry somewhere in Sussex. I think it was near Horsham, I took them to a stone cutting firm in Wem, a town in Shropshire. They had a giant band saw, and cut them into building blocks. I then had to deliver these blocks back to a site less than half a mile from the quarry, for a multi-millionaire who was having a mansion built.

The seat that the farmers/landowners sat on when deciding if someone had committed a crime was a sack made for collecting wool that was stuffed with both wool and haybales.

It was a faff! We had to buy insurance and provide the documentation to them well in advance and schedule an appointment to fly! Thanks 😊

National Parks! That’s what all the American KZbinrs have been doing when they haven’t been able to travel internationally the last couple years. They have been touring the national parks and vlogging 😉

Not to be contrary but although the villages and architecture of the Cotswolds are lovely, in my view the farming landscape is pretty boring as so much is simply pasture and bits of woodland. Coming from Kent which contains so many different landscape and farming features it seems too much of a mono culture. I missed orchards, lavender fields, vinyards, vegetable fields etc.

Well I have heard AMAZING things about Kent, and look forward to visiting “the garden county”! Thanks for your comment. Cheers! XX Dara
