I've been in the low CRP - high Calprotectin category for a year or two. In a few days I will be getting my results from a GI Map test, and now I'm almost certain there will be an infection / bacterial imbalance. Thanks Chris, you helped explain something that I have been confused with for a long time. Also worth noting I had a live blood analysis done recently which showed surprisingly low levels of intestinal permeability, yet white blood cells were taking action against something (probably an infection).

Super interesting George and no worries mate. Yeah I do think that bacterial infections and imbalances can be a cause for numerous symptoms we experience, but I think they themselves have come about due to another cause that has given them the opportunity to exist where they normally wouldn't, hope to share more about this moving into the future. Look forward to hearing the GI MAP results :)

Hi great video, very concise I have recently had a GI map done through a lab in the uk, and I have had my results explained to me and they weren't what I was expecting. The test included a marker called Beta Defensin 2, my levels were in the high range while my calprotectin levels were in the lower high range. I was told that Beta Defensin 2, are your body's natural antibiotics and that an elevated range could indicate an irritant like gluten or dairy. I have very low undetectable levels of beneficiall bacteria, which protect the mucosal lining like lactobacillus, bifidobacterium, akkermansia muciniphila. Which explains why I dont tolerate FODMAP vegetables or dairy very well, because its being fermented by other bacteria like bacteriodes, escherichia coli etc. I was told I have to heal the Gut lining before I start taking probiotics, and fix the enviorment otherwise the bacteria will never live. I found it intriguing as i've never heard of this Beta defein 2 markers before and how it relates to IBD, have you heard of it?

Where did you get your gi map done? They sound helpful as they were advising you what to eat for uc remission.

Thanks for sharing that insight bullet0wwn it's super interesting and no I've never heard of the Beta defein 2 marker before, it certainly wasn't included on the GI MAP test I had done. I think what you're saying could very well be happening in the body with regards to an inflammatory protein 'attacking' aspects of those foods, but I would look higher up in the digestive system to try to resolve the issue, perhaps the stomach isn't producing HCL as well as it should do and thus the proteins from these foods are passing undigested into the small intestine where they might then be seen as a threat to the body. I honestly believe the improper function of the stomach & valves is probably due to a nervous system issue, interested to hear your thoughts!

I had fecal calprotectin levels of >1250 micrograms per gram while in my flare last year. It lowered to 668 mcg/g when I was close to getting healthy. Now I am waiting for a result almost 1 year later. I'm expecting levels to be normal now.

@@kaytom6721 Hi, I have UC. I am still waiting for my new calprotectin results. I don't know the science of why they lowered when I started getting healthy last year. I healed UC by following Weston A. Thus far if I remember correctly has been ober 600g to 1g of stool (which has been profuse diarrhoes). I had initially been diagnose with mild to moderate Cron's when I was ten. That has been 7 years ago. I don't know my average as I assume that fluctuates. Again the gighest figure that I remember has been just abive h 600 to 1. I dom't know whether like this being considered above the moderate mark, I simply do not know.

If one would have an infection.. is there any specific medicyn or herb to take.. i mean anti biotic would do more bad then good i guess. I have had high calpro for 6 years but crp always oke.. but i get inflammation everywhere my eyes my joints.. im trying all the known herbs for candida etc. and eat clean.. but hard to get results
@ChrisGascoigne14 жыл бұрын
It's a difficult question to answer in all honesty Aaron, firstly I would be sure you're dealing with a gut infection. When I say gut infection btw, I mean a specific strain of bacteria that is causing noticeable symptoms by itself, if you have something that severe present, at times it could actually require something strong like antibiotics to get it out of the body. I think a far more likely situation is a bacterial overgrowth of commensal/normal gut bacteria (specifically in the small intestine). You could use herbs, supplements and even oxygen to address this, but I'm gravitating away from this approach and onto one that strengthens the nervous system/spinal cord to get digestive function working optimally - it's worth doing that before getting engulfed in the world of herbs & supplements as it will have a far more profound effect on the body, well it will in my opinion :)

@@ChrisGascoigne1 thanks.for your reply. I must say i have bin doing some sessions on the crosstrainer and doing some posture correction excersises, and as always working out really helps out. I got confirmed today that i will be participating in a medical research for feacal transplants, they will do all kinds of gi map tests before and after and during study. I am very exicited for this.. but i also have many questions as for example how to best approach this.. it would seem logic to almost steril ur own microbiome before first transplant. They said they would give me kleanprep for the first fmt.. im hoping for a big step towards a healthy gut

Excited for you man! Hmm I'm not too sure how they would prepare you for it, what country are you in mate, is it being done under the NHS? Some places will give you broad-spectrum antibiotics beforehand to sterilise the digestive tract. I wouldn't personally try to self-manipulate the microbiome before the procedure, I would probably stick to me normal eating/living habits - make sure to keep us updated on how it goes!

My Daughter had a complete GI map done in July and Stool calprotectin was 45, Lab Dr. Said he was surprised she was a Crohns patient, fast forward to this past week Gi doctor ran tests and she had a Stool calprotectin and it was 788, CRP is 54.6 she has no symptoms and is feeling great, she does a modified paleo and is on LDN . Doctor obviously wants to put her on meds but right now she does not want as every single med she has been has cause her more problem than good. Also GI map in July showed no signs of parasites. inflammation, dysbiosis and metabolic imbalances were in moderate need of support.

This is very interesting Kerry thanks so much for sharing! I've definitely considered how markers of both blood and stool tests can vary greatly even if they were taken days apart - from what I can tell, it's an indication of inflammation (healing) occurring in the body, but doesn't tell you much else unfortunately. I'm starting to think that even 'healthy' people who get digestive discomforts once in a while would show up as having elevated markers on those tests if they were tested when things weren't running smoothly. That to me indicates that maybe a weakness of the terrain, combined with a stressor is all it takes to set things off, which happens for more regularly in IBD sufferers. I really believe that one of the biggest 'terrain weaknesses' is a spinal cord out of the optimal position affecting nerve flow, blood flow and hormonal pathways to the digestive system, has your daughter ever considered this Kerry? I'll have to put a future video together on ways to check yourself for a nerve problem/spinal instability. I hope you can find some answers, but glad to hear she's feeling better :)

Free From Crohn's & Colitis , you are Welcome! She does see a chiropractor which has helped her she has been seeing him for about a year and a half now on a regular basis. As a mom I am concerned that even though she is symptom free that these evaluated levels my cause her problems unseen, and that’s what the GI doctors scare you to believe. I was think of getting my levels checked just for a comparison, like you said what are a “normal”persons levels, because they don’t check these levels when you are healthy they only check them when you are unwell. We are going to test for toxins next and see what shows up. But ultimately I just put my faith in God that he will guide us to her healing, we must be patient! God Bless you for putting out these videos.
