@@christalone71 Yeah but do you know who the audience and what timeframe Hebrews is written for? And why the Old Covenant is still in effect. The New hasn't replaced the Old Covenant they are still simultaneous because they are about 2 separate things. The Old Covenant never saved anyone, it was a covenant that kept the Israelites in the land and while they were in the land the LORD would protect them and grow them as a people to bring the messiah where all the nations would be blessed. The New covenant has no claims about the land but that it's about eternal life and immortality. the problem with modern Christianity is that we're taught to learn the NT first and then we superimpose our understanding onto the OT which causes a lot of confusion. When properly we should be understanding the OT first and then the NT so we can take the established concepts in the OT and rightfully divide the NT.

@@christalone71 Wow. So you immediately go with the attacks. Also, your reply suggests to me you can't even define what the Old Covenant was/is, and so you go with the caned response of that Jesus fulfilled it whatever it was. If I'm spreading false teachings then it should be no problem for you to clearly define what the Old covenant was. FYI it had nothing to do with eternal life which the New Covenant does. They are 2 separate and distinct covenants and both are present today. Yes the New Covenant is the final one that saves us, but the Old one is still very much intact.

@@codyalexander3290 Here is the the answer to the question above: 1st both the old and the new covenants existed immediately when Adam sinned, both covenants have nothing to do with time dispensation but a heart experience of the individual. The old covenant depicts men's willpower and effort to save themselves from sin while the new covenant is God's will and power to save men. All who are lost are actually lost because of the old covenant because the old covenant is men's will and desire to keep God's law which we always fail,. No man is lost outside the old covenant. remember the term covenant means promise. Therefore the old covenant is men promising God that they will keep his commandments with their own will, efforts, and power, which means God is the one to believe. Self is the symbol of the old covenant because it believes that it can God work by itself. the old covenant is the man writing the law of God into his stony heart. But the new covenant is God making the promise that he will make us overcome sin hence we are the ones to believe. As the bible says "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people". Not this the 'I', the new covenant is the same old 10 commandments that many Christians say it was done away with being written in the believer's heart by God. The writer is Christ, the ink is Christ's blood the heart is the human mind the results are total obedience from within. No man is saved outside the new covenant and no man is saved without faith. Today many believe that they are under the new covenant while in actual fact they are living under the old covenant. the old is the covenant of death eternal while the new is a covenant of life eternal.

The Old Covenant is the “working arrangement” that God had with Israel. He had chosen them for a special relationship that He did not have with any other group of people on earth. In this new covenant, God said, Israel will be restored, sins will be finally forgiven, people will know God directly, and they will have His law written on their hearts so that they will want to obey Him. The law under the Old Covenant was never a means to salvation; rather, it led to condemnation as people repeatedly broke the law and violated the covenant. The Old Covenant was governed by a law that prescribed correct behavior and that the people continually broke. It contained a sacrificial system that only temporarily removed sins. The sacrifices were administered by priests who represented the people of Israel to God, but the people could not enter God’s presence themselves. The New Covenant is governed by a law that is internalized by the people of God and energized by His Spirit. The sins of the people are forgiven and removed once and for all by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the people of God have direct, intimate access to Him. Is the future “Israel” literal or figurative (i.e., referring to the ethnic Jews or referring to the Church)? I believe it’s figurative as a Amillenialist.

then what do you with the Book of Daniel, of the 490 years given to Israel to go thru before they and the holy city are free'd from their sin and eternal justice established; of the Book of Revelation, the last 7 years of that 490 years, that deals with God's wrath and his people? Israel and the Church are two separate and distinct entities established by God and have two different roles.

“An attempt to fit the two-administrations-of-one-covenant idea into Hebrews 8 invites confusion. If you use the biblical terms, Old and New Covenants, instead of the non-biblical, theological phrase, one covenant with two administrations, you will see that the New Covenant has completely replaced the Old Covenant. You will see discontinuity in the area of the covenants.” John G. Reisinger - In Defense of Jesus, the new Lawgiver

@@williamnathanael412 Galatians 3:6-9 answers the first question. Hebrews 8 answers the second question. “Here is what we believe on the subject of continuity and discontinuity: 1. There is perfect harmony and continuity between the Old and New Testament Scriptures. The Old Testament Scriptures are just as much an authoritative part of the inspired Word of God after Christ as they were before Christ (2 Tim. 3:16). 2. There is total antithesis and discontinuity between the Old and New Covenants. The Old Covenant has passed away and has been replaced by the New Covenant (1 Cor. 11:25; Heb. 8:6-13).” ~ In Defense of Jesus, the New Lawgiver (page 33) If you have not read this book it will really challenge any pre-held theological grid that you view scripture through, such as Covenant Theology or Dispensationalism. The book is helping me understand that getting back to Bible terminology and basic Bible study will help see where man made superimposed systems have contributed to clouding my comprehension. The Bible answers the difference between the old and the New covenant. Old covenant was the 10 commandments written on the stone. New testament is God's commandments written on the flesh, the human heart. The first was the Holy Spirit working from the outside and the New covenant is when the Holy Spirit works from inside us.

Let's just admit that saying God made all these laws and obviously felt it was necessary for us and our growth in this world and then all of a sudden sort of changed His mind, is beyond absurd. To try and insinuate that the people of the ot were somehow immature and not ready to live without all the ritual laws like a teenager is so ridiculous. Let's just admit how problematic this is and how it makes no sense. Why would God make all these laws in the first place if we never really needed them?

"What is the difference between the old covenant and the new covenant?" I believe: The first covenant (driven by laws) was created with 2 parts! 1. God would do what He said He would: regardless of what the Israelites did, "Good or Bad"! To the End of the World! But... If the Israelites disobeyed God's commandments (613 total)! Where the 10 commandments, God wrote. While Moses later; wrote the other 603 Commandment (inspired by the Holy Spirit, through Moses!): God would end the BI-Lateral part of the Covenant. But he would never stop His "blessings" in His "Unilateral" Covenant. Unlike the "Bi-lateral' Covenant; of the Israelites! Sadly, during 2,000 yrs; MOST of the "12 Tribes of Israelites" (drizzling down to only one "Tribe"); became the world's most "Abominable Sinners" on this planet! Thus Jesus (who IS the only true God Almighty ever be) ENDED the Israelites' covenant, 2,000 yrs ago! Regardless what Jews, Muslims or Christians say! It IS all OVER! Believe it or not! Praise Jesus Holy Name! 2. Then Jesus created a "New Covenant" (driven by Faith IN Him Only because He IS God) And it is for every person on this planet; that will believe IN and Worship; the same God that Abraham worshiped. For Jesus said this in... Matthew 22:37 Thou shalt love the Lord (Jesus) thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Thus the difference between "2 Covenants", I do believe.

The Mosaic covenant was a literal covenant given to the flesh and blood descendants of Abraham. “The Children of Israel” The law was written in stone! Ten Commandments Sabbath was a literal day of the week! Exodus 31:13 Notice it says: “Children of Israel” Circumcision was of the flesh! Genesis 17:10 Moses was your Mediator! Exodus 20:22 Aaron was your High Priest! Exodus 28:1 Moses gave the Israelites the Torah, Ten Commandments and dietary law of Leviticus 11. Remember Moses and Aaron did not enter the promise land. Why? Because they represented a covenant that represented the flesh!! 1Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. The Mosaic Covenant was a literal covenant given to the literal flesh and blood children of Abraham the Israelite’s the Children of Israel. NOT TO YOU! Look at Jeremiah 31:31 God makes Israel a NEW COVENANT! Now look at Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant he made with Israel when he brought them out of Egypt. Notice he says “Not according to the covenant he made with Israel when he brought them out of Egypt.” YOU ARE NOT UNDER THE MOSAIC COVENANT, LAWS OR DIETARY LAWS! The Old Testament was given to us to help us to know God and to give us a greater hope. Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. At the crucifixion of Christ the Priesthood changed so therefore the law must change. Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. The law changes from the literal to the spiritual. 2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. THE NEW COVENANT IS A SPIRITAL COVENANT!! The New Covenant is a spiritual covenant given to the spiritual descendants of Abraham though Faith in Christ to all that believes unto salvation. Remember Paul says the “LETTER KILLS BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE” 2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. He also says in Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. The New Covenant is a spiritual covenant there is no Jew or Greek ALL ARE ONE IN CHRIST JESUS. Galatians 3:27-28 The law is written on your heart! Jeremiah 31:31-34 Christ is your rest! Matthew 11:28-30 Circumcision is of the Heart or Spirit! Romans 2:29 Christ is your Mediator! 1Timothy 2:5 Christ is your High Priest! Hebrews 4:14 Christ fulfilled the Law and nailed it to the cross! Colossians 2:14 If Christ had not fulfilled the law and nailed it to the cross we would not be under grace! Christ crucifixion has brought in a New Covenant making the Mosaic Covenant obsolete! Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. THE NEW COVENANT REPLACES THE MOSAIC COVENANT! You are made Righteous by faith and not by the works of the law! Galatians 2:16 You are not under the Ten Commandments! You are under the moral law of Romans 13:8-10 Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: Now let’s look at Acts 15 The Pharisees tried to say the Gentiles must be circumcised and kept the Law of Moses. Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. Remember the Gentiles where never Circumcised and did not keep the Law of Moses! Acts 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: Notice Paul says “to whom we gave no such commandment” Paul never commands the gentiles to be circumcised or to keep the OT Law! The only way you can justify keeping the OT Law is to take scripture out of context! AVOID THE TEACHINGS OF MAN! 1 JOHN 2:27 YOU NEED NO MAN TO TEACH YOU!! Peace!
