Clearly the quickest attack in the game is wearing the Thrall Hood. It deals instant mental damage to the enemy player as soon as they see you wearing it. Usually this means they just try to destroy you with absolute impunity but I believe it still counts

5:23 note about the stacked running: you can actually avoid straight up running before holding up the shield, by simply holding the run button during most animations(if memory serves), including walking slowly(that i am sure of) which won't activate neither the roll NOR the running.

Something similar exists in Bloodborne too; can’t sprint sideways while locked on, but hold sprint while strafing and you’ll walk normally, and when you flick the direction forwards and attack, you get an instant running attack

I know this isn't really an intended attack, but what about the No Reload Crossbow? I've used it a lot and I can confirm it is quite fast. From the moment I press the L1 button to shoot, to when the bolt comes out. I can confirm that it is much much faster than a two handed dagger. I use it to reaction trade running attacks and get two hits combos lol

That still requires you to go through the animation of bringing the crossbow up tho, combined with the release animation. No reload crossbow I think I’ve seen before, and does it just instantly do the release animation from neutral? If so that would be the second fastest on that list if it was not a glitch, as I’m guessing that glitch works by first doing some other animation.

@@Amir0 For the No Reload Crossbow you need a crossbow in the left and to two-hand a Dark Hand or fists in the right. After that you're set to go, every time you press L1 you immediately shoot a bolt, I don't think there's any animation to raise the crossbow at all. It goes from neutral to oh, you just got hit by a bolt.

One of my favorite things to do for fast attacks is to hold the shield button, sprint and stop whilst still holding the shield up. Now if you’re at a full stop and hit the light attack button you’ll instantly do a running attack Edit: i should have actually watched the entire video before opening my mouth

Recently got back into Dark Souls 3 PVP a few days ago. The amount of people I've seen just unlock spin-walking and whiff punishing with Curved Swords is astounding. I guess that's how all DS PVP games go. Dark Souls 1 is backstab fishing, Dark Souls 2 is katana whiffing, and Dark Souls 3 is absolute insane tech based gameplay. Stuns vary a lot, dagger stun only traps someone for like .4 seconds, while some ultra stuns trap ppl for 2.5 seconds. Speed varies a lot, although not as much on things like r1s, which for example dagger r1s take only half the time to hit as greataxe r1s.
