Cartoon Universe I think that Lars and the off colors will get stranded in space on a planet or just a random place and then steven will go through Lars's head back to Earth. He'll then tell Lapis, Peridot, and the crystal gems. Then they will either go through Lion's mane, or Lion will be missing and they will have to find another way. This is when Steven would approach Lapis because he knows she can fly. She will then say that she won't because she doesn't want to get involved with any fighting. Then he might convince her to help by flying him there or maybe fusing with Peridot and being amazing. Or he will have to have the help of Peridot and Pearl to build another spaceship. Maybe this could lead to more information about Rose if Lion went missing and they went to look for Lion and find something new. I think they'll probably do the Lion story because it would be more realistic. I do think that a Flourite Lapis fusion would be a little unrealistic because she hasn't had thr best fusion experience and she wants to stay away from Homeworld and Homeworld is after the off-colors. I think she would first fuse with Steven. Possibly Sapphire too because they are both Blue Court gems so she has the most gem relation to Sapphire but most emotional relation to Steven.

As much as I adore seeing Steven and Lapis together, a part of me actually kinda hopes Lapis is the "right" gem that Fluorite is looking for. What with Fluorite being a giant Caterpillar Gem, and Lapis having water wings, it would be a neat metaphor for them to fuse turning Fluorite into a Butterfly Gem. Also as for that last theory of lapis being brainwashed. It IS possible, but I'd say it's also a bit of a stretch since Yellow Diamond did specifically state that a Lapis Lazuli's duty is to terraform planets. I wouldn't be sure how the water mind control thing would backfire on Lapis since she can control it.

I think this arc is setting lapis up to fuse with someone. A lot of the trauma we have seen lapis go through has been due to unhealthy fusions or forced "fusion" with the mirror. I think this will push her to try to leave and then she is convinced to stay and initially accidentally fuses with said person. I feel like lapis needs to be in a healthy fusion to be able to move forward and finally fully accept what has happened to her. It looks like she will fuse with peridot going by the promo.

I think Lapis' first fusion (after Malachite) will be with Peridot: she started exactly like Jasper, she imprisoned her and brought her to Earth, and Lapis initially saw her as nothing more than an enemy. But with the time they spent together alone at the barn It's obvious that they developed a strong bond and they both trust eachother. So I think fusing with Peridot, the gem that admires her the most and believes in her when no one else (apart from Steven) does, will help her get over that trauma that Malachite was and understand that fusion can be a good thing. It would be an interesting contrast with the relationship and kind of fusion she had with Jasper. Plus all that Lapidot stuff (My comment is a bit rushed, but hopefully you can understand what I mean anyway)

Lapis and Lars would actually probably get along and relate, they both wanted to be the person [steven]saw in them, the better versions of themselves, but it was hard to let go of the "not so nice but pretty selfish" bits of themselves to adjust to a life that would essentially be better for them and the people they care about. Lapis spent most of her onscreen time being afraid of something, just like Lars, and they both struggle with courage. I think Lars would be the perfect person to show her that only she has the power to decide to do the right thing. Sometimes it's up to you to change your life and stand for something more than your own selfish needs, even if your afraid, even if you've had your life taken from you or never felt you've got to live one, in the end it's still your decision to do the right thing. It'd be nice to see that as canon, but it's a little disappointing that Steven probably wouldn't witness it, so neither would we. But you know, I just remembered that LION WAS MISSING. LAPIS WAS LEAVING. LION=LARS=LAPIS?!

Maybe Lapis is cuaght by homeworld and they threaten something to do with Steven and she tells them that Steven is half human and explain that rose is half of steven. They might be intrigued by this but want more answers and they compel Lapis to find Steven and bring him to wherever they are. this could be an interesting way to bring Lapis back and see what her character would show us.

Here's my prediction of Lapis' future.................................................... 1) She discovers that Steven escaped the Diamonds 2) Realizing that the full fury of the Diamonds will come soon, she decides to leave 3) Steven and Peridot make an impassioned plea for her to stay on Earth and fight, but Lapis tearfully refuses and flies off into the Cosmos 4) Flash forward to the end of the Season, Steven and Company are locked in battle with some elite Homeworld Warriors, and just when all hope seems lost, Lapis reappears and finally joins the fight, as a Crystal Gem.

tbh Lapis does not have to fight any battle she doesn't want too. People shouldn't be forced into a fight, so I don't really see her fleeing and opting out of a battle as someone bad on her part. going into a battle would just be traumatizing for her, or at least triggering for her- in the actually meaning of that word. The last there was a war she mistaken for an enemy and trapped in a mirror over 5000 years. This time? While she may not be completely on their side but she's helped them, she stayed on earth for them- she betrayed her homeworld actually betrayed them this time, all she could think about how things will be so much worse for her. I think she has every right to not fight in whatever battle there is to come. She's literally since her character was introduced to us has been through trauma, then more trauma, and more trauma - her story should not be just her being traumatized over and over again. And war, battle- whatever you wanna call it, causes trauma.

I think Lapis is going to leave. But I believe Peridot's going to get poofed soon, and I think Lapis will somehow find out about it and come back. And, no. This isn't just some Lapidot fan spewing out want they want to happen. I think the show has actually been building up to it, not to mention, a lot of the show's developers ship Lapidot.
