I am so thankful to have learned about the HPA axis now that I have learned about it it has helped me learn how to manage the anxiety I experience, now I am self aware. Even though I had years of counseling no one ever educated me about the HPA axis. It is so important to learn about the HPA axis in the healing process for anxiety. I thank God for Doc Snipes when the HPA axis goes up in my body system I thank God I have my distress toolbox that I learned about from Doc Snipes to help the HPA axis to go down again hallelujah 🙌🏻☺️

Your videos / channel are so wonderful. This video describes exactly what happened to my body when I was suffering from bad PTSD. I was in 'emergency mode' most of the time, and I ended up with lots of inflammation in my stomach and colon, and had lots of gastro-intestinal symptoms, as well as almost constant body pains, and then the vicious cycle of being hypervigilant about those bodily symptoms! My libido was also very low and felt disconnected from my real self and from reality, too. Your videos are so informative. Thank you so much for the work that you do to helpe people. You are a real blessing!

Thank you for doing all these videos. I can follow what you are saying and understand it. I was diagnosed with fibro myalgia 20 years ago and now diagnosed with complex PTSD 4 years ago. What I've come to learn is fibro myalgia was the start of the symptoms of complex PTSD. So I know what you are talking about. It very education and helpful thank you

The adrenaline rushes woke me up out a dead sleep one night..didnt know what was going on and almost went to the hospital-- but it has been a rollercoaster ride of hell for over a month now..I had histamine issues for years since menopause..only 4 hours if lucky of sleep each night due to peeing every few hours--so obviously inflammation and now it has progressed to this..extreme weakness, dizziness, adrenaline rushes, tight/weak muscles, cramping, extreme fatigue..

Can you speak about HA (Hypothalamus Amenorrhea). I believe my 19 year old is suffering from this. However, all the doctors want to do is prescribe BC pill or give a premature diagnosis of PCOS, without any testing. She does not have PCOS.

What can we do to help this stress state?
@TranscendingTrauma

I think the only thing really is to create safe experiences. To do things that access safety in the body such as the belly breathing. For me, some of this looks like no longer engaging with people that activate my fight or flight so viciously. Becoming really aware of my internal talk and changing it to a more compassionate narrative.

A couple of things, certainly mindfulness for example, considering a lot of stress factors come from things that aren't properly going on but rather we think may happen (anxiety) it might as well useful to check the way we think, what am I going to do if I don't get enough money to pay the rent? No, just don't. You're just on your way to have cronic stress. If we keep thinkg about the what ifs all the time we're just asking to get stressed. So overall mindfulness practice and even try to be grateful for everything we have. Affective mechanism that are opposite cannot coexist, you can't be angry and happy at the same time for example. And also, the "breath and count to 10" the slower we breath the less we are bombarding the brain with cortisol since the blood flows slower

Great video!! I'm all for this content spreading lol so wanted to add about doing well on KZbin with length, thumbnails, etc, something that probably doesn't need changing AT ALL is your actual delivery, like whatever you're doing when you're in that chair! Voice/mannerisms/what you say, etc, just do that exactly as you always have (imo!), don't even think about that. The only related thing you would maybe want to eventually change is the background, at least somehow (different camera? no idea) having the background be blurry while you're in focus. The wallpaper border etc is a bit distracting and the bookcase not looking more uniformly filled and not either filling the background to avoid the high contrast between the bookcase and wall, or gone, plus how it's so much in focus, really don't help the thumbnails either. I'm def no expert so take what you will lol. I really appreciate your videos! (edit) easier suggestion, at least put the big white papers/signs on the bookcase somewhere else? just a thought, and maybe try to have contrast between your outfit and the chair. But then maybe all those thinga actually add to that nice bit of homey/folksy vibe that your channel has, and should stay the same?? who knows. ok bye :)

Thank you for such a clear and interesting video. I have a question: So, say the HPA-Axis has been disrupted in the long-term by chronic stress/trauma and this has caused chronic inflammation and illness in the body. Is it possible to fully repair that damage and if so, how might this be done (would the treatment be more psychiatric based such as EMDR or more physical such as treating the chronic inflammation and medical interventions to regulate cortisol?) Hope that makes sense :)

So just imagine the consequenses of being prescribed ativan for over 10 years for ptsd related insomnia. It took me 3 years of tapering without the assistence of a medical practitioner except for dispensing the lowering amount. So if patients with ptsd exhibit decreased peripheral benzo binding sites, combine that with the downregulation of those same sites because of chronic benzo use and you have...well a shitstorm. I'm 9 years out from the taper. Ive learned to adapt,but nothing has repaired an i no longer expect it will. Speaking of thyroid, i believe this all resulted in my acquiring Graves disease

@Bruce Waynesjustice My comment is a belated reply to Dr Snipes open solicitation for topic suggesitons. The other day I gave her some topics I thought would garner her more attention. When she showed up in this dress in this video, I felt compelled to tell her that she looks dynamite and that also would not hurt her view count if she chose to highlight her amazing figure more frequently..Either way, I love you Dr Snipes. Your videos are great, even if you wore a paper sack.! Cheers!
