USELESS DATA UPDATE! There is a new possible record. In the Judicator Argo bossfight if you are summoned as Halflight, Spear of the Church you will get a absorption boost depending on how many players there are. With 4 players you get 75% extra, but you do lose sacred oath's 30% boost. So there TRUE MAX is 99.5715% Magic Absorption! That's a whole percent better kiddos. As I've screwed around with this myself I knew that for several damage types there are multiple armor setups for the max. 1. Fire can either be Havel's Gauntlets, Winged Knight Gauntlers (hands), Havel's Leggings and Black Iron Leggings (legs) with the Black Iron Helm and Havel's Armor, they give the same in the end. 2. Physical is any combination of Lapp's Helm, Catarina Helm, Morne's Helm or Smough's Helm for head, Smough's Armor for chest, Exile Gauntlets, Catrina Gauntlets or Winged Knight Gauntlets for hands and Harald Legion Leggings (which are also the best leggings for Slash and Thrust) 3. Slash is either the Exile Mask or Gundyr's Helm with the rest being the same 4. Thrust is either Lapp's Helm or Morne's Helm with the rest being the same 5. Magic has either Karla's Trousers or Ordained Trousers 6. Lightning is the same as here, though either the Catarina Armor or Winged Knight Armor is the best. Also here are the highest status resist setups: 1. The highest Bleed resistence is just the Exile Set at 226 2. Poison is the Worker Hat, Exile Armor, Desert Pyromancer Gloves/Painting Guardian Gloves/Exile Gauntlets and Worker Trousers at 174 3. Frost is the Outrider Knight Set with the gauntlets swapped out for the Pontiff Knight Gauntlets at 206 4. Curse is the Prayer set with the Jailer Gloves and Black Witch Veil at 223 Some more pointless information to add.

FYI limit i think you should do some more testing while playing the spear of the church boss vs 4 gankybois. You get basically 65% base absorption to start and then you can stack buffs and equipment from there. I've gotten 97-98% absorption with just heavy armor and perserverance from the ritual spear fragment.

I waw able to take on a cheapie invader in Belfrey Archdragon Peak... I was using Lightning Murakumo+8 so faith has S scaling, fatih stat at 35... Used Great Heal, Deep Protection, Way of White Corona, Lightning Stake, Divine Pillars... using Saint tree bellvine. was able to thrown the discs very well.. Tried free throwing for some fun.. sometimes it works..sometimes... Coronas into Lightning Stake and then Pillars when enemy was 20 feet away still hit him though... He was wasting his stamina sometimes... me too I spamed r1.. Later on I tried using these with the miracle boost rings but taking up two rings is kinda risky losing defense...

Not mentioned, but straight sword Stance R2s, as well as GSOJ WA R1 have a hidden bonus damage absorption (unless it's been patched out). It grants more absorption than perseverance, but for a shorter time (duration of the weapon art), and it can't really be used in this since shield bash is already being used. Pretty neat fact though.
