Maybe this is more the reason for life, but I think "the meaning of life" is literally to experience God. And that's through all the joy and trials that comes with it. I go to John 17:3 for this - "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

And I actually believe that verse could be better translated as, "And they have eternal life to perceive You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ who was sent."
