For that turret section, I feel that if you're counting "attack button presses", you're good to count it as 1 attack, but you'd have to include grabbing the rings. If you omit grabbing the rings because you're not "attacking", and just pressing the button, then we're back at defining what an "attack" is. I would say it's sending out 1 offensive object, like your first or a bullet. I'd personally treat each turret shot as an attack. But this is just fun brainstorming, haha! The video is absolutely fun and chill and I'm enjoying going through your stuff. :)

@@obscurevideogameruns6250 Even it was my favourite videogame back then, there wasn't any specific reason for stop playing, I guess... I simply played other stuff, then started being busy studying at the university (now working, which is probably worse xDDD) and it was like 4/5 years ago when I decided to play again the Rayman saga. The games have aged very well and whenever I can I play Rayman 2/3 in their PS3 versions (much easier than waiting for my PS2 to work whenever it wants). It's great to see some people trying new stuff in this game after lots of years. As I said, you're doing a great job with these videos... You deserve way more subscribers and I hope that will change quickly in the future. It's hard getting popular without uploading mainstream stuff but you're doing amazing.

27:00 Bro you can actually just use fully charged attacks on the machine to beat it, the time needed between attacks is larger when you do a fully charged attack so is easier and you cut off a lot of the attacks. I think that you just need 4-5 attacks to get the bar high and damage it

Horrible Machine can be done with only charged fists, as the bar doesn't drop immediately if hit with a semi charged or fully charged fist. Fast hits are the worst as they cause it to immediately drop. You can easily save 15 or more attacks there

28:30 I don‘t think you need that many attacks on the machine. By ALWAYS using fully charged fists the meter stays up long enough to fully charge again and then it only needs like 5 hits to reach the top IIRC.
@obscurevideogameruns6250 Жыл бұрын
You're right. I corrected my mistake in my Rayman 3 Speedrun video. Comments helped me al lot with this!!
@tumpp2 ай бұрын
The horrible machine requires way less attacks You can spawn an enemy wave with 4 fully charged punches fully charged punches keep the bar from lowering for longer than uncharged punches and its enough time to be able to hit the machine with another fully charged punch This would bring the meter hit counts from 12 to 4 reducing the amount of hits required by 8 for each time you need to fill the meter in the boss fight So this reduces the hits from 60 to 20 (not counting enemies) Granted at least on PC you need the fill the meter 6 times so the attacks required would be 24 but regardless this cuts the hits required the beat the boss by two thirds This would also make resetting for better RNG less tedious

@PidgeyHowler2 жыл бұрын
As far as holding down attacks go, I would just count the number of things you kill. If every enemy theoretically dies in "one hit" and you killed 20 enemies while holding down the attack button, I argue that's 20 attacks, because if you had been able to have better control over it, you would've taken 20 attacks to win that battle, and so on. Though I guess its a little harder with bosses since you don't just insta-kill them.
@obscurevideogameruns62502 жыл бұрын
I get that. Although, the final boss gets really jarring then, because the shield refills itself very fast
@PidgeyHowler2 жыл бұрын
@@obscurevideogameruns6250 Yeah, that's why I recognized it probably wouldn't work for the boss since its not as clear how many hits its taking to end the fight.
@TheBrummi10 Жыл бұрын
you can "defeat the shoe" without boosting right? so in theory the attacks you counted there can be removed from the total minimum count as well, bringing it down even more. I mean yes, it would take months for the other shoe to accidentally run into you while you do nothing but I would say just driving around and "whoopsie, we collided" is also not an attack, is it? :)
@obscurevideogameruns6250 Жыл бұрын
Not really sure if that's a feasible scenario, but if it would work: technically you are correct!
@SuperMSL2 жыл бұрын
So I'm confused. Why don't you just keep using charged punches for the Horrible Machine? That makes the bar go up faster right?

Having seen some speedruns, you can defo do this in way less. At least with glitches
@obscurevideogameruns62502 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but I don't like them. Then you play a totally different game. You will almost never see glitches on my channel. But exploits like jumps you are not allowed to make... well, that's part of the game
@user199x2 жыл бұрын
To make the counts less inconclusive and vague, the run could be simply about the amount of times you have to press the actual attack button? I mean already with the hooks there's some weird inconsistency since you don't count when grappling them but unless I'm misinterpreting the footage you seem to count shots that are missed altogether? Including missed shots on the hooks...?
@obscurevideogameruns62502 жыл бұрын
I chose not to include the hooks since it doesn't feel like an attack to me. Also, sometimes I attack more then the minimum, but everytime you see that you can also see me reset sooner or later. Sometimes you have to practice before the best attempt

There are definitely more optimisations here, there are a few places you can skip some spinning mushrooms (including the "impossible" one in the fairy council), anywhere with multiple hoodlums can have them hit each other at the same time, and the machine boss meter can be raised to the top in 3 or 4 charged punches.
