I throw Latitude 64 rivers as my understable/Hyzerflip fairway driver. I have a 154 g Opto air that I use to hit gaps and Hyzerflip lines in the woods with low power, and a 169g goldICE for shots that need to finish right. I love the axiom trance, but as a reliably straight disc that fades. Flies like a -1,2 or -.5,2 for me.

My favorite understable fairway drivers in no particular order: Underworld, Maul and Jackalope. They are reliably understable but have consistent flights. My experience with Roadrunners and Hatchets matched yours; the Falk also gave me that same flight. I tried three Heats before I gave up on them; terrific distance, but very sensitive imo.

Yes, as you’ve told us, and experienced players know, plastic types matter. The Leopard3 is my main driver. I have 3 in plain Star plastic (171-170-163g) and they fly for my 200’ noodle arm just like the Rhythm did, which I also have. Slight fade right with a small reliable late fade.

I’m here to say my F2 neutron relay is reliably overstable. Flies with the same overstability as my champion teebird, both 171g. I almost get more turn with my champ teebird. The relay seems to want to get stable and get down to the ground no matter how hard I try to snap it on a turnover shot. I currently love my halo star roadrunner, but I’ve been throwing a Z-dye cicada off the tee instead. It’ll be hard to replace my 160g beat up DX teebird for 7 speed turnovers, but you’ve given me many ideas of a replacement. Thanks for the video!

Also, per the relay, flight numbers from mvp show -2 for high speed turn. Some retailers mistakenly list it as -3. I throw 350 to 375 max distance with drivers and let me tell you, the Relay is a great disc but I can barely get any turn out of it. I'd say -0.5, 1.5 would be more accurate. Listed like a slightly overstable signal but the two couldn't be further apart. Signal is legit understable. These videos are extremely useful. Even if some of the evaluations aren't quite right due to the throw being too low or what not, if you know what you are looking at you can still tell a lot from a bad throw, or one being compared based on a completely different throw.

Thank you so much for another awesome video. I hope your arm is ok. I can't throw as far as you, but still appreciate your efforts as your closer to my arm speed than Caleb. Your videos are the most helpful for me when researching new discs as I'm mostly looking for a flight shape that's missing from my bag. In this case, the understable discs are a big help considering I'm not good at throwing anhizers and my sidearm isn't quite up to snuff yet. Thanks again.

Was hoping to see the Essence! (8/6/-2/1). I'm surprised you were throwing so many max weight discs since they aren't very suitable for weaker throwers. I never buy anything over 168g, especially if I want understable flights. Strangely my Hatchet is super understable and my various Heats are only a little understable, but I love the Heats. My X plastic Heat is very understable but it's basically a different disc from the Z's and ESPs. I've noticed that X line discs tend to be smaller in diameter and more domey.

This video kind of cements my belief that there should be a 5th flight number for torque resistance. Like I bag both a Diamond and a Roadrunner, and can use both for similar kinds of shots, but I'll have to throw them very differently. To hyzerflip a Diamond, you really gotta backload it, and be real smooth with it to get a flip up and fade, while a Roadrunner is way more torque resistant and while it does still hyzerflip, I'll really need some more omph behind the throw for it to get some turn over on a hyzer. So Roadrunner is more something I'd use off of the tee, whilst Diamonds come in clutch on the fairway, especially when it's a bit muddy or whatever and I don't feel like commiting to a full run up. Or with standstills, I'll rarely throw the Roadrunner on a standstill baring a forced over forehand, whilst the Diamond I have no issues trusting the understability even with out going full power. But I still don't disagree with the flight numbers because when thrown right, I feel they both fly true, just that on a scale of 1 to 10 to torque resistance I'd say the Diamond would place more similarly to an origin, and the Roadrunner more like a Hex. Origin and Hex both being 55-11s, but the Hex especially in glow is imo WAY more torque resistant than an Origin. I don't really know exactly how I'd rate them, but for example on a 1-10, maybe if the origin/diamond have a torque resitance closer to a 2-4, the Roadrunner/Hex would be more of a 5-7. Similarly with approach discs there are countless 4303ish discs that'll behave differently, like a Harp imo is way less torque resistant than say a Zone. And then something like a Roc, is even less torque resistant, but I wouldn't say it should change it's flight numbers to have less fade or more turn etc, but rather just add a 5th rating number. And I guess it still wouldn't make sense if manufacturers added their own torque rating, because when you switch companies, they'd still be irrelevant.
@Veggamattic20 сағат бұрын
I was really hoping you might do some Yikun discs fairway drivers because my all time favourite disc is now the Yikun View in Dragon plastic. If you get a chance to try one out that would be great. It is similar to the 2 you threw today but less stable. Very straight actually. You can do almost anything well with this disc...even putt. I have owned 3 and 2 were the same. One felt and looked slightly different and was much more understable. Both my great ones were yellow. Some of the Yikun view plastic seems like you can see an internal ring opposite the rim at the same diameter. These seem more understable. I think it might actually be 2 different plastic types labeled as the same.

Or make it hold high anny/flat shots for slight turns. Gotta throw it hard though. 350ft at least to get the flight. You would prolly like that underworld more
@xcfjdyrkdtulkgfilhu21 сағат бұрын
Axiom is out of line with the speed rating on the Trance, then. If you have to get it up faster than someone with mid-300's power on other discs can manage to achieve the stated turn/fade, it's more than a 8-speed.
@luckypennybenny20 сағат бұрын
MVP drivers do not follow the rim disc formula every time. If you measure one specific spot on the wing, I bet the Trance is the "correct" width for its speed. If you measure from edge of flight plate to edge of wing, it's probably like 2 speed "off" by width. A crave is 16.5mm at the bottom edge of the wing. From where the flat part of the bottom of the flight plate ends to the widest point is 18mm. A crave would be an 8 speed from any other manufacturer besides MVP/Axiom.

Where would we be without Ibuprofen... Not out on the fairway... (Actually at 56 I can throw backhand 300ft all day (and probably the next day too)... But if I throw too many forehand shots I do the opposing lats. or if I crouch with bent knees (why would I possibly need to do that as a machinery repair mech)... Or if I forget when driving my old auto Hi-Ace to stretch out my left foot rather than turn it in and roll on it's side.. (That took some time to figure why my foot felt like it was broken sometimes) or if I wake up one morning and... well sometimes just waking up seems a bad idea... but my arm... bullet proof... Maybe from the Trail bikes and MTB (The bashing from the YZ wasn't too hot after a day of trails)... Probably doesn't help that I spend 9-% of the time slumped in a sofa watching TV. but YES... the (actually not too frequent) times the pain is above the background noise level I don't really notice... a couple of Ibuprofen just seem to do nothing... and by that... I just seem fine.. no pain, no stiffness, no weird effects from medicine... just normal... Just how any medicine should work. (For me that's quite good as apparently after popping a shoulder and deciding the 'Green Whistle' they give you in the ambulance was just making my head funny, so I just put up with the pain... turned out that in some instances I have a high threshold for pain.. (The morphine was supposed to knock me out while they popped the arm back in... I just said well I don't seem to be getting any worse than this.. but I'm real trippy, so go for it... Oddly I couldn't feel any pain at all, just them wrenching on my arm... but all of a sudden I broke out in a full body sweat.. so I told them my bod just reacted to something... so they checked.. yup, the shoulder was back in. The shoulder was out for at least an hour.. I thought that was it for the poor ol muscles (Left arm by the way, which was my lifting arm, right for the fiddly stuff).. I think because it ended up under my chin, all the attached muscles were slack, so didn't over stretch them... 2 things I lernt from that... 1, When your 40 and it's your 1st time in hospital, they tell you nothing... but if you popped a joint. .you NEED physio! don't just b a guy like me.. (Remember that apparent high pain threshold) 2, Concussion isn't just a hit on the head... It's when your brain is asleep but the body is awake (ever had a dream someone threw you a ball and you kick the sheets off... that's like concussion... your dreaming but the body is up and trying to make sense of it all... (Oh and the pain threshold arose with another trailbike accident (oh year that last one was a highside full throttle on a YZ250 in a flat field on a 1000 rider ride)... This time I was nearing 50, another 1000 rider trail on rolling farm hills, long story short I did an impromptu double... but the bike only did a single.. and I supermanned into the ground... A month later, when I woke up with my arm asleep.. and it was just in a normal beside me position... I went to A & E... Went something like this... "Well.. you have a little chip off your Ulna... And you have broken the end off your radios diagonally into the middle of your wrist... and theres some floaty bits of bone in your wrist Are you in any pain"??? - "Meh"
