Back in the day, I ran a 1970 LT1 in a Z-28 Camaro... It was a great car and engine. I updated the cam to a Racer Brown STX 21 solid lifter(I believe), and the 350 then made right at 400 horsepower and revved out to 7000. Roller rockers were definitely needed then as the Racer Brown cams increased action, burnt up factory rockers. That cam really brought that engine alive. The factory cam was plain lazy...

I bet it is difficult to source, but it would be awesome to see the LT1/LT4 with the Lingenfelter designed Accel Super Ram manifold.

A kid showed me his catfish camaro on the chassis dyno with a cai put down 345whp. No wonder them cars run high 12s with bolt ons

The 70 LT1 should have made more power and reved higher than the L46 considering the bigger cam and better intake.

my 97 Z28 won Grudge night Against about every High horse Engine there is even the local Race cars lol And it did it through Stock exaust Manifolds lol no cats though I think the thinner casting 561 heads are way faster like 400 horse usually winning by 8-9 car lengths against the all the LS clan a lot of it is Driver skill but the other half is Definately Engine

I really wanted a 5.7 hemi in the test too, I know this is all gm, but I am curious about how it stacks up to the sbc

a modern Hemi against an old SBC? the hemi needs to be compared to the LS1

@@richardholdener1727 well what do you think would make more power? Stock, and modded? My money is on a hemi Stock, and a ls1 when the mods start.

Yep, I knew the LS1 had it all the way. Only the LS6 is stronger than it for a factory 5.7L SBC.
