I’m trying to understand- could not the ‘’Children of the Kingdom’ be the Jews? They persist in unbelief but were by birth children…they, certainly, cast out!

my christian friend was cast into outer darkness years ago when she was being strangled she said she screamed for jesus and she was pulled out and she was a christian back then so does it not tell us we can lose our salvation.

How you get that the 3rd person in Luke 19: 27 is born again, is beyond me. Sounds like some major mental gymnastics… ‘But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ 🤔

So the thief on the cross that said remember me and trusted Christ the last hours of his life? Jesus said to him today you Will be with me in paradise. He had no time to be faithful just to trust Christ. ??? Just not sure about this interpretation

Is a Believer Missing Out on Co-Reigning with Jesus Christ a Form of Protestant Purgatory? - Zane Hodges kzbin.infofXXCqzHwXN4 Catholic View of the Thief on the Cross on Salvation and Discipleship - Bob Wilkin kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6G5nJprabetqbM Catholic apologist, Dr. Douglas Beaumont, claims that the experience of the Thief on the Cross supports Catholic teaching that faith plus works are required for salvation. Dr. Beaumont argues that the Thief on the Cross passage support the following: 1. The Thief on the Cross was under the Old Covenant. 2. The Thief on the Cross might have been baptized. 3. The Thief on the Cross is an edge case. 4. The Thief on the Cross is only one salvation example. 5. The Thief on the Cross did exhibit faith and works. Bob Wilkin of the Grace Evangelical Society examines these 5 points and shows that the experience of the Thief on the Cross supports salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for the free gift of everlasting life and the reward of ruling and reigning with Jesus for confessing Him.

Sons of the kingdom could be taking about the Jews since they are gods people are were supposed to inherit god’s kingdom
@OnceSavedJesus5 ай бұрын
Love Bob, but NO to this interpretation. "Children of the Kingdom" refers to Jews who considered themselves as such and thought that they would be automatically saved simply because they're Jews, the chosen of God, who have the Temple and the Law, but in fact will be left out. The phrase "weeping and gnashing" always refers to eternal torment. The Greek word for gnashing is, "brygmos" (Strongs 1030), which means, "a gnashing of teeth, used to denote extreme anguish and utter despair of men consigned to eternal punishment in hell." These are unbelievers, unsaved. "And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:42 KJV)
This is a weird teaching. Never heard it before, from either churches I've been to, or even the saints of old. A couple holes in this is 1) believers are never judged. Our sin is taken away completely and forgotten. 2) nowhere does it say believers will face outter darkness. You are making a kingdom description of believers vs unbelievers, and turning it into something that it does NOT say at all. No believer will be in outter darkness.

Believers sure will be judged. Just for rewards, not eternal life. (Romans 14:10, 2 Corinthians 5:10)

Amen! You are exactly right, and Bob is wrong on this one. Believers do not need to fear being cast into some kind of "protestant purgatory." Yes, some believers will lose out on rewards, but the outer darkness is a reference to hell for unbelievers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ami5ZIquptt8r8U

Read your Bible for yourself. Most pastors are teaching how to gain rewards on earth not Heaven. This is very much true what he's saying. Only thing "sons of the kingdom" could refer to Jews or Believers. Since God gives us all talents to see how we use it in our time on earth, most likely means both.

Rev22:15 describes a group of people that is not in lake of fire, not in the new heaven and not in the new earth but in a place outside heaven's gates. This place has strong allusions to be referring to the outer darkness for the following reasons 1. This place is not the 3 other locations mentioned. To arrive at this view require one to recognize that different terms are used to describe all these 4 locations, new heaven, new earth, lake of fire and outside heaven's gates. The various groups that qualify for their respective locations are described in separate parts of Revelation with different contexts. To say that the location of outside heaven's gates is symbolical or it is the same as lake of fire or new earth bears the marks of intellectual dishonesty and being disingenuous. 2. Being located outside the new heaven is similar how the outer darkness (Gehenna) has a parallel as a rubbish dump outside the old earth Jerusalem. 3. This group has committed sins that qualify them to the outer darkness. Rev22:15 (NASB) "Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying."

I hold the view this group are born again believers that have chosen and judged as disqualified from the entering the new heaven and exiled to the outer darkness.

No, it's a real place. I have been there. I had an NDE and found myself in the outer darkness. I am a born again believer. To be fair, Jesus met me there and sent me back. But I assure you, it is a real place.

I believe you may have had a very realistic (lucid) dream, but you absolutely did not see Jesus and did not see Heaven and to claim you did is to say that the Bible is insufficient. Good day and God bless

An eternity of regret for the poor servants? Hell, but not quite? Go out and get busy so you can earn a higher place? "for it is God who works within us to will and to do according to His good purpose". I can't deny that that is what the Bible says, so it is truth. It is disheartening that my short life here, when lived poorly, will negatively impact my eternity with my Lord. What should I do to be a GOOD servant? I want to be.
@alexgarratt38082 жыл бұрын
Not an eternity of regret but rather a short lived moment of grief before living forever in perfect joy in a glorified body and world! Not at all hell, in fact - significantly better if not infinitely better than Hell in every way. What should you do to be a good servant? That’s a long answer LOL! I’d start by asking God for his help.

I think you are down playing the outer darkness with the weeping and gnashing of teeth. That sounds like a total loss to me. I don't think the unprofitable servant enters the kingdom at all

I’m glad Bart Ehrman is such an unbiased biblical scholar. His biblical interpretation is probably the last I’d seek out. Forever is related to time, Heaven has no time. Try rethinking “eternal”.
