It's absurd to have quibbling about whether it's a genocide. Yes, it IS a genocide. Who says not? The country committing it, and the countries helping to commit it ,by sending bombs and funds- in short, the mass murderers and co mass murderers. It is absurd to argue about the numbers of deaths, too. It's a distraction from the fact that the US is responsible for the genocide of a helpless, unarmed, trapped, innocent people. Our government/media has a fit if 3 Americans are taken hostage or killed in another country, yet when we are responsible for the deaths of 20,000, which is really 36,000 innocents, there is silence, distraction and denial. This is heinous. I am disgusted and ashamed of my government.

“Under what conditions do I owe a starving child food and when don’t I?” -Les Roberts What a powerful reflection on the conditionality of ethics, responsibility, and compassion. I believe Mr. Roberts makes a great case that the concept of “nationality” is a root cause of many global problems. How many children die while held captive at the US border in Texas? When so many families leave their country of origin because the US funded and armed coup d’etats all across the Americas, it’s plainly evident that the US cares nothing for non-American people, especially children.

I think the reason that Gaza is on the minds of young people and not S. Sudan is because Gaza has been in the news daily since Oct. 7. The world's attention was on the victims of Oct. 7, but then the response was so horrific that fair minded people could not support it. That the US is sending military aid for the genocide in Gaza is another major factor.
