This week on The Big Picture, we sit down with Palestinian-American scholar and activist Dr Omar Suleiman, the founder of the Yaqeen Institute in Texas.
Dr Suleiman built a reputation as a religious voice who resonates with the growing Muslim diaspora searching for leaders, and as a millennial often on the frontlines of social issues and protest movements in the US.
He speaks to us about his own anger, his commitment to challenging his government and why this is a turning point for how he sees himself as an American.

Righteous anger, yes, and it was wonderful that Dr. Suleiman then elaborated that we need to channel that anger into prayer, into solidarity. With all of these things to consider, why hasn’t South Africa taken Hamas to the international court of Justice ? This interview opened my eyes even more than anything else before, it spoke to me at my core. I hear nothing but love and compasion coming through in this interview, there is no hate or calls for revenge only calls for accountability and justice. 🇵🇸❤️🇵🇸 The unabashed hypocrisy always floors me. Yes, everyone should stop calling Palestinians “prisoners” and call them hostages, because that is what they are. (I switched my language on that awhile ago.) Right now people are outraged about the alleged rapes on Oct 7-for which there is zero evidence, and good reasons to disbelieve the allegations-but refuse to give a single moment of their attention to the years of sexual abuse by IDF (IOF) against Palestinians, for which there is so much evidence it’s sickening. Even the language of “soldiers” referring to IOF, but calling Al-Qassam and Al-Quds “fighters” is biased, discriminatory, dehumanizing. They deserve to be called soldiers, and frankly I think they are more deserving of that than IOF. I could go on… I watched the interview with Mia Shem-one that’s over 20 minutes-and it made be both angry and sad the way her indoctrinated perspective of Palestinians so radically skewed her interpretation of her experience and her refusal to allow herself to see them as just human the same as herself.

Why was this not further popularized? I didn't get this when searching for "Omar Suleiman interview" on KZbin, I was only aware of an interview with Dr. Omar after I've seen a YT short about it today.
