Riddler is fantastic, i found it really smooth and forceful. the problem is mm already has 4 sit down looping coasters, and a b&m floorless. this ride is the king of standups and I do think its going to stay

Standup coasters are somewhat "endangered" just like Arrow suspendeds. They're still around but since no new ones are getting built it could be only a matter of time before they're gone. I liked Mantis better than Rougarou simply because the layout was built for standing up, and when you take that out the ride is much less exciting. Most floorless coasters like Dominator send riders through intense elements designed specifically for floorless cars (the high-speed u-turn after the first loop, the cobra roll) and Rougarou lacks those elements.

This is very true, eventually they will become an extremely rare coasters. Your point about Rougarou is very true. I have not had the chance to ride myself, but understand that would definitely alter the ride experience.

opposite for me, When i went for a field trip in 8th grade i went on the riddlers revenge because i wasn’t aware it was a stand up coaster (it was my first time there and i weighed less than 100 lbs and was around 5’4) and when i went on it i wasn’t sure how to sit or what to do so the ride started and i was in a bad position constantly felt like i was gonna fly off so i had my friend hold me with her legs and arms

Thegamingdude935 before it locks you in position, you have to adjust it so all your weight isn't on your balls, kind of bend your knees so you have more weight on your feet , I do it all the time and it works.

I've only ever ridden one stand up coaster in my life, SkyRider at Canada's Wonderland, and I thought stand up coasters are amazing. I wish there were more of them around. Still, I totally get why some people don't like them.

I think that they should build more stand-ups. But a good middle ground would be having 2 loading platforms, one for stand-up trains, and the other for sit-down/floor-less trains. I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Roller coasters are often designed with the seating in mind so that the forces are correct. I'm not sure whether running both trains would work; and you may find that the majority of people would rather ride floorless.

Harry, I think, too, the majority would go for floorless. Nevertheless, as seen with Mantis/Rougarou, it might be possible. I don't think, the heart-line differs much and in terms of air resistance, little adjustments to lift speed and block brake intensity could be done depending on the train style running the track. Most of all, they should find a floorless solution without shoulder-restrains. It doesn't matter which style (accept 4D), shoulder restrains are just annoying and useless.

Standups (B&Ms) create a feeling of involvement with the coaster since you're standing and facing everything instead of just sitting down for entertainment, which also results in lesser feelings of freedom or empowerment during the ride for some. But that does occur because the seats must be adjusted correctly to avoid uncomfortable positioning. Floorless rides retain some of those feelings, but the crucial part is that riders are still sitting down instead of being in a bolder, more deliberate position to experience a rollercoaster.

Stand-up coasters have the disadvantage of riders not seating themselves correctly or taking too long to find a comfortable position to ride the attraction. My home park is Six Flags Great Adventure so I have taken a spin on Green Lantern. It's not remotely as bad as some make it out to be when I got on it. It's simply a matter of adjusting the seat so that your legs can remain straight. I wouldn't be surprised if more aren't built though. Certainly not popular with most folks.

I would enjoy this ride much more as a floorless. It's a fantastic layout. I know it is capable of running 3 trains but usually it is only 2 due to the slow loading process. In fact, sometimes the train is able to complete the full circuit while the next train still hasn't finished loading. A conversion to floorless would restore efficiency.

There is actually a 5th roller coaster that has a loop going around the lift hill. Momonga in Japan. It's the world's first stand-up coaster, and is actually the first coaster to have a loop go around the lift hill. It still operates today!

After my last trip I rode apocalypse and green lantern and I have found the trick to riding stand up coasters. When you are getting on the train you need to squat a bit until the restraint is locked into place, then stand up all the way and once the ride is going lean forward the entire time. After doing this I even found apocalypse to be enjoyable. This is a lot of work just to ride a roller coaster but I didn't mind it.

Elizabeth Schiada i think you should ride it, the worst that could happen is you don't like it and you don't ride it again. If you're going to ride a stand up, i recommend riddler's revenge over any other even though i like most of them. If you follow my tips you and your friends will most likely enjoy the ride. The Riddler's Revenge is the biggest baddest meanest greenest greatest longest standup coaster in the world. When I rode it in 2003 and 2004, it was so smooth you could drink tea while riding it. And it has cool station music. While the ride itself is spectacular, it has limited course theming. Some roller coasters at SFMM have a better course. Others run over mere gravel (Batman) or the parking lot (Scream). The Matterhorn Bobs is a fabulous ride because if its visual course.

Stand up coasters aren't as bad as people say they are, I've been on Shockwave at Drayton and it hurt my shoulders a little bit but not as bad as people say it does. You just have to kneel a little, then stand up when the harness is locked, provides a better ride.

I think parks should keep their stand-up rides because they're only painful if you have the seat too high and in Magic Mountain's case its a nice ride to go on while a larger ride has a huge wait because Riddler's Revenge is usually a less than 5 minute wait whenever I go.

Stand up roller-coasters are fine. the only reason people complain about them is because they don't do what the ride is designed for which is STANDING UP. your balls don't get crushed if you're actually standing up erect with your feet planted and not being lazy slouching down. Just my experience
