Let's talk about why it's much more effective to use it right side up even when your mic is hanging inverted.

Thank goodness. If you use a Rycote wrong three times, the Rycote Gremlin eats your face while you sleep. You also should never say “Rycote” three times in a mirror.

Good video camera I've seen a couple knock off versions of these but I highly doubt they're made out of the same materials so probably not as good even though they look about the same

The thing with the knockoffs is they use a regular plain plastic for the lyres that is not as pliable so they are stiffer.

Loudspeakers get a little warm when you really push them, but a shock mount doesn't experience anywhere close that amount of vibration. I kinda doubt they had that in mind when they chose to make the lyres out of thermoplastic. The shape just suits itself to injection molding

Speakers get warm because they are inefficient and most of the electricity that goes into them is converted to heat instead of sound. However, when you stretch plastic, its surface temperature increases due to the conversion of mechanical energy (from the stretching force) into heat energy through a process called plastic deformation.

Same thing. Lyres up would offer the best reduction in vibration in theory and they are primarily designed for boom pole work or to be mounted on top of a camera, with VO use as an afterthought. But since a 416 only weighs about 160g, it doesn’t have the kind of mass your LDC has, which results in less pull or sag if inverted and if you mount it vertically pointed down, the lyres may sag slightly forward but still won’t result in touching the plate that mounts to the stand so your decoupling remains intact.
