Correction on the whole cargo thing. The Arrastra can hold cargo internally AND externally. What you choose to place there is completely up to you. Be it refined materials from your mining session or everyday cargo. The external cargo will obviously be vulnerable to attack, but it's there for you to use all the same. Edit: Also, I'm not so sure this ship fits in that capital size. It's roughly the size of a Carrack that fits the s3 bill. I wouldn't complain if they DID, but I'd be pleasantly surprised.

It's the Reclaimer for mining. This announcement made me upgrade my MOLE into a Reclaimer because it was lost in a limbo of "worse to 1 or 2 man, much smaller and less lucrative".
@epic_grayfox2 ай бұрын
The mole definitely needs some love. I think a larger capacity for ore would do the mole a lot of buff. At its base level, the mole is basically 3 mining lasers and 3x the capacity of the prospector. Once you put Argo bags on the prospector it becomes immensely better. Honestly a size 2 laser and argo bags on a prospector would turn me into a prospector miner, truly.
@Tentacl2 ай бұрын
@@epic_grayfox It's just a bad design. 3 players on VoiP flying together in prospectors can do much more in less time and still be enjoying the end all be all "multiplayer gameplay" CIG seems to think is something unique - in 2024, as if noone played a MMO before. The MOLE would need a HUGE revamp. It's a 2 player ship because of the size and should be treated this way. Allow a single char to operate bith smaller lasers and the pilot to use the larget one, this is the 1st step.

Would be good if the drones could be sent to scan a rock patch to save investigating every patch with ship. Then you can recall or have drone tag or hold position to mine. Maybe 2 to 3 drones for the ship.

Recon drones OR extraction drones. Either I dont think would require too much in depth mechanics and would greatly increase effeciency

I upgraded my mole to this and got another Mole as loaner. Even after watching this video , which was good I still think the ship is a bit of a mystery. I may upgrade it to the Orion, and hold off pulling the plug until I can play with the Arrastra a bit. At this late stage though I have many concerns about the unsolved issues of stability which unfortunately makes the entire game impossible until the issues are solved, and by impossible - I do mean 100% impossible. No stability means no ability to hold many players in one shard, and its all up in smoke. When I have my ship disappear in the hanger holding 66csu of RMC, and show up on terminal as destroyed requiring a reclaim I can just laugh - for now. But when its supposed to be real, as in the funds were going to be used for the Org to go off to war we will call "The Endgame", yeah no one will be laughing at that kind of thing. No stability = No game.

what we need is a mining ship that mine with automatical drones than we have a prober ship

If drones could extract the ore for you and the lasers simply fracture, that would be HUGE. Honestly a broken concept tbh.

@@epic_grayfox yea but its the furture if you can fly in space from soler to soler system Drone can not be a issue right

If it had Medical facilities I would buy this ship and use it for exploration.

Honestly I think that'd be super OP if it came stock with that. On the other hand, you can put an ursa in the vehicle bay and have access to medical

@IanMartinAdams it fits a ROC DS which is the same size so yes 👌

@Desrtfox71 that's a hot take, why do you think so?
@Desrtfox712 ай бұрын
@@epic_grayfoxit's not a hot take. To answer your question, let's see - the DS has better mining laser power, traversal, and range. Plus it protects the driver while in transit. It also is more stable when mining. You don't need to reposition the DS nearly as much either. This means mining with the DS is faster, safer, and easier. The DS also holds substantially more which admittedly, wasn't important really prior to the cargo patch, but certainly is now. The DS is objectively better (by a wide margin) as long as you can fit it in your ship. The only hot take is people parroting talking points having never put them to the test (I, like nearly everyone dismissed it a t first, but after trying it, it's not even close. Unless I have no room, the DS is the right choice.) Try it
@epic_grayfox2 ай бұрын
@Desrtfox71 Some people parroting, maybe, I would not say I am one of those. Power - all minable gems are, by default, within ROC power limitations. You are much more likely to find a rock fit for hand mining thus needing less power, than finding one too big. All gems are typically within about 0.15 mass of each other Traversal - sure, it can articulate more than the standard ROC. However, that is a mute point when I can just move the standard ROC while I am mining so that doesn't give it much of an advantage The same can be said for range, if in the single seat ROC then I can just drive closer, or farther, while I mine. The 2 differences between the 2 are that the ROC DS has a larger cargo capacity and has the ability to support 2 players. It is also enclosed, so that provides a method to resupply oxygen and stabilize your temperature, although these 2 things are hardly an issue in a typical mining run. If anything the ROC DS is worse for a single player as you must constantly enter and exit seats. Plus in the event you over charge a rock you are not going to be able to back away fast enough to avoid damage.
@Desrtfox712 ай бұрын
@@epic_grayfox It is in fact, substantially better for solo use. The amount of time necessary to get in and out of the vehicle is miniscule in the overall mining loop, plus - as mentioned - with the DS you have to reposition far less. In fact, in nearly all cases, you don't need to reposition at all to mine out even the largest clusters. So, in nearly all cases, you're getting out once, getting into the mining seat once, and then getting out of the mining seat when done once, and getting back in to the driving seat once. That's less time than you spend repositioning a standard ROC. (also, once you're in the driver seat you are environmentally protected which means you have to drink less often as well. This is, of course, assuming you're mining on Arial or Aberdeen.) Also, the ROC-DS, while mining is much more stable - because you aren't in the driving seat. Unlike the standard ROC. I've mined in both - for years, and I can say that one of the downsides of the standard ROC is its propensity to move a round a little bit while mining. The DS doesn't do this. In your example of overcharging a rock, this is true, you can't move the DS, but you are already further away due to the extra range (which is also a benefit when extracting BTW), and I've never actually had an issue damaging a DS from overcharge. I've damaged it from highish speed collisions - like getting in and out of ships, but I've done that with both. I think you should actually try it some and see for yourself.
@epic_grayfox2 ай бұрын
@Desrtfox71 i feel like we've had very different experiences or maybe you haven't tried the ROC since you've used the DS? My ROC doesn't move around while mining at all and my repositioning feels natural as I'm just scooting forward slightly through a cluster, the movement are not what I would call unnecessary. In that way I find the DS not as useful because it adds a requirement to enter and exit the vehicle and mining seat. Plus the DS fits in less ships.

Potentially this ship kills the Mole. With a crew of 2 why would you bother with a Mole? The Mole needs a big cargo increase and the ability for at least the Co-Pilot to use a mining laser just to stay competetive. The Mole needs 128 scu and the Prospector 64.
@Kyle-sr6jm2 ай бұрын
Yep. Price aside, Arrastra just kills the MOLE.
@epic_grayfox2 ай бұрын
I 100% agree with the increase to ore capacity. Mole to 128 would be perfect and I think prospector should be 48 with the ability to use size 2 lasers. I think that would balance out well. The thing with a cockpit operated laser is that it really takes way from the Prospector in that way. A size 2 laser on the prospector gives you scalability with it and makes it viable for solo play as you progress. Mole would be good for multi crew and possible solo play if you're skilled enough.
@mustrumridcully38532 ай бұрын
@@epic_grayfox I use my Mole solo - just because of the capacity. The Prospector is a waste of time and effort currently. Once the Arrastra arrives, with 1 other person it means a huge payday - and the Mole becomes useless.
