I REALLY like your idea that Solaris was a living creature who was killed by humans producing the evil Mephiles and destructive Iblis. However I still like the head cannon I said before that Mephiles and Iblis where demons that terrorized Soleanna long ago before fusing into a false god (now that I think about Mephiles absorbs Iblis with Chaos Emeralds just like Elise and Blaze do so it's possible that the two where unrelated creatures originally but Mephiles sought to tame and control such raw power) and being imprisoned by the real Solaris in the Eternal Flame and just over the years the legend got twisted and people started to think the Eternal Flame was Solaris (the royal family knew the truth though and held onto the Scepter of Darkness and Chaos Emeralds to imprison them again should the need arise)

What if scepter was artifact meant for more than just Mephilis? I mean we have quite a lot of dark entities in Sonic lore, like Black Doom or Dark Gaia which seem like entities that could need similar magic to steal them away, and maybe Scepter is a relic of an ancient encounter with one of such beings which can also trap Mephilis if used against him

I personally think in the distant past either Mephiles or Iblis was a benevolent being while the other was malevolent and at some point the malevolent one corrupted the benevolent one. If both were malevolent then why would they come from a flame that represents HOPE? I am leaning towards Iblis being the one that got corrupted because fire doesn’t only represent destruction, it can also represent purification, rebirth, and other concepts. Look at how Phoenixes are always portrayed as beings of fire. The ashes created by a fire help plants grow by acting as a natural fertilizer.

Maybe Mephiles and iblis started separate and monks created the scepter of darkness to control his dark power but failed and Mephiles merged with iblis to gain power to protect himself from mans greed and became the flane of hope.

I still assume he went Dr. Strange and saw all the outcomes with the first one being Iblis destroying the world and being too strong to fuse with Mephiles. Which is why he went after Shadow to distract him and let Silver take on Sonic which lead to Elise's captures a couple of times for Sonic to save allowing a bond between the two in order for the impact of Sonic's death right in front of her to be more impactful. Mephiles never interacted with Silver at any time after Silver knew the truth meaning that Silver served his purpose in his plan and with Shadow too focused on him, Shadow never tells Sonic about Mephiles at all. Meaning Sonic was never aware about this other player on the field who wishes to bring the end of the world.

I love this. As much as I love 06, I've always struggled with the biggest plot hole: why did mephilis do such a convoluted plan for something so seemingly simple?

The Scepter of Darkness... Well it's an interesting ancient artifact left behind for the royal family of Soleanna. Who created it? It's likely ancient monks along with one of the ancient kings. Seeing as you said it was something made hundreds of years ago, according to an archaeologist. Why it was created? Well to seal Mephiles and the darkness. But that's going off the rail for answers outside of the game's story. Remember my theory on the Phoenix Eagle on the Solaris video? Well, if the fiery phoenix eagle was getting weaker over time and turned into a little candle flame, there had to be a shadow of the burning soul of the very flame, giving a subtle hint of yin and yang / light and darkness. I'd imagine in this theory for the scepter, the monks took notice of the shadow projection from the candle's angel, they must had form a ritual that extracted the shadow of the candle's projection. I know that sounds incredibly odd and unbelievable when I say that, but really it had to be something. Plus I recall during Kingdom Hearts 1 Riku managed to create a shadow form of Sora on Captain Hook's ship, and had to mention it as there's some use of magic in Sonic 06. How does this have to do with Mephiles? Well, when the shadow the Solaris's flame was first extracted, it was likely born anew as the dark shadow of Solaris. Over centuries, later it must have learned some of Soleanna's culture every year from the festival of the sun, making it quite curious about the world itself. But during the day of the accident, when combining the flame and the dark energy together, we know a prototype engine was failing and failed to keep itself running, but what about during the process? I'd imagine the combination of both entity spirits were in pain when trying to fuse together as they were both not completely whole, much like Dark Gaia during the opening of Sonic Unleashed who looked 3/4 complete, and were both likely trying to develop a new forms over centuries of being the same and how some of the recent kings must have gone mad for power, much like Elise's father during the Solaris project, trying to protect themselves and would've give the royal family a piece of their minds for forcing them to fuse together at the inappropriate time by destroying the kingdom and soon the world.

Mephiles saids that Shadow was always meant to seal him away 10 years ago. But Shadow was still asleep on Prison Island during that time. Shadow being the one sealing him away was dumb, he only did that when Mephiles told him the first they meet in the beginning of Shadow’s story. I don’t like time travel in Sonic

It does seem complex, especially if it's to a ongoing story. I don't know if all the games are connected or not, but given that Unleash had a origin involving a planet demon imprisoned inside the earth that's where id draw the line for it's confusing bit.

If you think about it Shadow uses Chaos Spear to light those candles The answer to who created the Septre of Darkness is any ancient being who had the powers of the Chaos Energy that is from the Chaos Emeralds The Blue Chaos Emerald specifically as Elise had it perhaps the reason Shadow left the Emerald in the past is cause it was always supposed to be there

Since Solaris is a legendary creature I always thought that the Duke Of Soleanna created the sceptor based on the legends to possibly absorb the light of Solaris if it became unstable. I think he gave Shadow the sceptor because he thought that only one of them could be sealed now that they were separated.
