Well, it is 2/3 of a grass-water-fire core, and both of them excel in pretty much the same thing (pivoting, faking out, supporting the other mon, while being tanky and having an ok/good offensive pressure), so obviously they both have great synergy. It basically goes like this “if I am using Rillaboom, I might as well use a fire and a water type with it. If I am using a fire type I might as well use Incineroar”.

@@ratman4200 Swampert is so close to greatness but kinda like Garchomp, GF refuses to give it the things it needs to shine. For now, it really only needs access to good recovery and strong priority. If Swampert got access to Palafin's Jet Punch and Recover (or even Life Dew), it could fill a role. An ability change in the same vein as Empoleon would be nice but what would we even give him?: - Swift Swim would be great just like the Mega. (Not a fan of this, too reliant on rain) - Water Veil to prevent burns. (Least good) - Adaptability to increase it's wall-breaking potential. (My personal pick) - Regenerator/Water Absorb or Dry Skin would be completely nuts.

Give Meganium Revival Blessing and Regenerator, and it'd be a VGC staple. Not only would those TWO things make it viable, but they're also thematically fitting (all of Meganium's dex entries talk about how it revives dead plants just by breathing on them). And it wouldn't be out shone by Amoongus, coz they're both doing different (all be it similar) things. Both want to support the team, but Amoongus does so by disrupting your opponent (Spore, Rage Powder). Meganium would greatly increase the longevity of your team via Revival Blessing, Aromatherapy, Heal Pulse, and Screens (yeah, Meg can be a screen setter). Now combine all that with Intimidate spam. It even gets Helping Hand.

Depends on the “strength” you’re looking for. If you’re looking for pure aggression, Protean and Libero starters are very good. Of course, they’ll fold to any meaningful damage against them or crumple against hard walls, but generally have tools to reposition and come in to exploit weaknesses later.

I don't play competitively, but if I did, and had the choice to use Primarina or Tapu Fini, I'd always choose Primarina, since I just love her that much, and she's my fave Starter. Same goes for me using Meowscarada or Serperior over the other Grass types, since they're my two favorite Grass Starters, and also Cinderace over the other Fire types, being my number 1 favorite Fire Starter. And for the opposite reason, I would never use Incineroar, Rillaboom, or Venusaur, because I don't like them very much.

@@Endershock1678 Mega Blaziken is UBERS in National Dex. Base Blaziken isn't UBERS in gen 8 or National Dex. Mainly because even with plus 2 swords dance it lacks the damage output. Plus it has moves lot issues. It wants SD for damage, Protect to gain early speed boost, flare blitz and cc for stab damage, but also wants thunder punch and earthquake for coverage. It kinda just loses to whatever the bulky water type is, whether that be Dondozo, Slpwbro, or Toxapex.

@@swampat4093 still, it’s a particularly bad example of a regional form just being a replacement instead of an effective sidegrade with distinct niches. the original Samurott is barely good in PU now, let alone in VGC. There’s no reason Torterra should get Shell Smash and Empoleon should get an actual ability while anyone who wants to transfer up their original Samurott has to deal with the fact it gets neither, and it can’t do anything to distinguish itself from its regional form that probably won’t continue to be included in the games after this gen.

Incineroar and Rillaboom have to be my favorite starters competitively. I'm curious how good Incineroar will be now that the Clear Amulet item it out and its interactions with Hisuian Arcanine. I know it WILL be good, but will it start to dip?

Absolutely not; first off, Clear Amulet is a decent item but any offensively inclined Pokemon that could theoretically make use of it would much rather use a power-boosting move or survival tool. I daresay Clear Amulet is a noob trap. Second, H-Arcanine and Incineroar are WORLDS apart in terms of what they add to a team; H-Arcanine relies on STAB Rock Slide and ExtremeSpeed priority to pressure opponents while Incineroar (as stated in this video and countless others) is the ultimate Swiss army knife of support Pokemon with Fake Out and pivoting, something neither Arcanine form can boast. The Heel Pokemon will dominate VGC as it has for two generations straight especially not that it has a new toy in Terastallization to play with.

@@IncineRand Clear Amulet is definitely not a noob trap. A lot of really skilled players who have made pretty decent placings have used Clear Amulet on the likes of Lando, Iron Hands, and in one really odd case, their Rillaboom. One even got top 8 with Clear Amulet Iron Hands. I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit top 8 again, considering it blocks both intimidate and parting shot. That said, I do agree its still gonna be a pretty niche item. While it is very good, since after an intimidate, you're better off running that than say, Life Orb or even Choice Band, there aren't that many good users of it in the format rn. Lando needs Scarf, Hands wants AV, Rillaboom doesn't need to deal much damage anyways, Chien Pao REALLY needs Sash, Ogerpon can't hold it unless you're running Grass, in which case you want scope lens, Roaring Moon usually wants speed booster, Dragonite has inner focus anyways, and Arcanine is not outputting any sort of threatening damage without band (even though clear amulet is better after a single Intimidate). Second, while I do agree Arcanine H and Incin fill ENTIRELY different roles, they do still both take a slot as intimidating fire types on a team, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a team maybe run Arcanine over Incineroar, in the sense of 90% of teams will having Incineroar, and then 10% will have Arcanine.

1 thing I would say is kinda disapointing is that when talking about the Paldean starters it's mostly focus on the 2(Meowscarada & Skeledirge) and not the other which is Quaquaval for I would have thought he be a great fast offensive sweeper with his high attack,speed & ability moxie. Which is a shame cause he's my favorite and I never pick a water type starter until S&V.
