(Nothing against you btw, just wanted to rant about that sentence in general :D)

Lol yeah. Science is observation and logical reasoning. It's pretty hard to "believe" in that. If you observe an object on Earth falling, and an object on the Moon falling, then you conclude that gravity on the Moon is lower than earth's gravity... You don't "believe" that, it IS so and the observations prove it. The whole point of science is so that you do not need to believe anything anymore, you'll know things for sure.

If someone were arguing that the Pythagorean theorem doesn't work, I would still say "I believe it works" and try to explain how it works... the same way I believe in Gravity, the laws of thermodynamics, the moon, that Australia exists, that the Queen of England is not a reptile, that the earth is a spheroid, that there are no 'space jews', and that AIDS is real.

It’s so cool finding individuals whom you respect intellectually within your field of study (Poli Sci and Philosophy). One thing I still struggle with in my college endeavors is giving my own 2 cents on the arguments of well-educated scholars. When someone’s rhetorical prowess far outstrips my own, I find that it’s hard to resist simply agreeing with them without raising objections or prying for further exploration. I think perhaps separating the arguments from their author and looking at them objectively should rectify this problem to an extent.

@@GamesnChips Stop misusing the term 'Islamophobic'. He is simply criticising the religion and has every right to, it's not bigoted. If he hated on normal Muslims, then it would be bigoted. The same goes for anti-Christianity and antisemitism. They are real but the terms are overused by religious people wanting to be offended by something. Islam also says a lot of nasty things about different religions, women, homosexuals, non-believers and many other groups of people, so Islam is the real bigoted religion here.

I see that vice versa. I'm from Germany and you and some other KZbin channels help me so much in learning, writing, speaking and understanding English. And history is so fun. Learning what has led to our modern life and which persons and actions had most influence is so fun. I love it. I'm totally obsessed with history. History, politics, religion, cultures, science, lenguages and literature are all things I love to learn more about to understand the world a little better. And you really help me to achieve this through your videos. Thank you Alex.

As a former Rome-trained Catholic priest, I think the best argument against the existence of god is that for so many centuries the most brilliant minds of their time dedicated their entire lives to prove its existence, but they all failed.
@chrisbarlow21315 жыл бұрын
The Catholic church, in fact all of Christendom have hidden Gods personal name, Jehovah, from their people and removed it from the Bible, replacing it with titles such as Lord. If they can't be trusted to even reveal his name, they can't be trusted to tell you anything else spiritual. The Bible try is Gods Word. Christendom has paid it lip service at best. Shameful.

I agree with most of your thought processes... however, I'm really interested in hearing more of your views regarding consciousness. Couldn't quantum field exploration reveal some yet misunderstood mechanisms about consciousness? What if once individually generated by a brain, consciousness had the ability to connect to a wider spectrum of reality defying time and space..? Just personal views, so really interested by the discussion. congrats on your channel ;)

@jonathancissoko42258 жыл бұрын
Hey punkonthego, I extrapolate John Hagelin's thesis that the unified field could be pure consciousness due to the patterns that they both apparently share. But truly, this is more a question regarding the very nature of consciousness seemingly adopting a wave/particles behavior, which is interesting to me(personal views again ;)). I dont have diplomas, I'm not a scientist, I'm just reading stuff and trying to make sense of it, so if you know what we are talking about, please develop, I am really interested in learning what you do know. peace
@punkonthego8 жыл бұрын
I value what Hagelin has done for theoretical physics, but his views on connections between consciousness and unified field theory are unfounded. His position has roots taken from other less than tenuous sources and ideologues. Just know that his claim is not supported by other physicists and isn't scientifically backed.
@jonathancissoko42258 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I actually do agree 100% with everything you just said. I think Hagelin is trying to do an honest work(at least he seems to), but I also think he jumps too fast to conclusions without the whole scientific evidence to support it. I agree too, probably more than you think, that the roots of his positions have truly questionable sources(for most of them anyway). However, shall we entirely dismiss the possibility that science could still prove his theory right? or something approximating? Intuitively, consciousness to me, could be studied through the lens of quantum physics..
